Square Enix new MMO is Rapture?

Dutch website GameCloud.nl reports that Square Enix will announce a new MMO at E3 2009. This rumor was posted in Electronic Gaming Monthly. GameCloud believes Rapture is the MMO S-E will announce at E32009. Rapture is a MMO in development at Square Enix for a couple years now.

it's been announced since 2006 or 7 lol. Coming out on pc, 360, ps3 too. It is using the crystal tools engine...just check wiki.

Yeah, it's been announced since 2005 but we never heard anything from it. Electronic Gaming Monthly published that S-E was working on a MMO, but they didn't said it was Rapture. But I'm sure it is.

Development on BioShock started in 2004, development on Rapture from S-E in 2005. So they both just happened to come up with the same name, they didn't stole it from each other.

I'm sure it will come out for all systems, but lets hope they all share the same servers. Pc will surely come out first, then its hard to say if 360 or ps3 will come first afterwards. I would prefer to play it on my ps3, just because most of my friends play on that system, and my 360 only has a 20 gig hardrive.

3.1 - I'd be suprised
if it wasn't completely cross platform. They'd be taking a step back If the game wasn't, pretty big step too since I could even play FFXI on my PS3. I'll be getting this one on PC. I was always jealous of windower plugins that PC players could get over console players(even if it was use at your own risk.)

I want to know If It is FF based or not. From the demo they've shown It looks a lot like FFXI. I think I remember even seeing wyverns in the video. Even the story picture reminds me of an elvaan, with their tree necks.

i'm sure this one will be on all sysstems. MMORPG's really wont really do as well as expected unless they are cross platform. unless they are PC only.

Even if Square goes exclusive to microsoft you can expect their MMORPG's to be multi platform.

i'm actually excited about this. i love ffxi. but it didnt make leveling early easy leaving any non large funtioning Linkshell members that are not high level or have access to expensive gear hard to level.

oh another problem with ffxi was that the devs were to eager to please crying wimpy babies that wanted everything nerfed or boosted making partying with players almost static leaving some parties out at some levels. i could barely get past lvl 57 on my dark knight but was able to take my beastmaster past 60 by mainly soloing.

As I've said in a few other topics the MMO's Codename is Rapture. While that may end up being the games final name I doubt it. Games are often given code names to keep them a secret until the time comes to announce them. The game has already been announced for PC Xbox 360 and PS3 and will use the Crystal Tools engine.

on an after thought.

if ps3 can lower their prices and make huge gains. that confuses square and others enough to stay multi and not choose sides.

But if this happens and square gets continues bad rep for poor unreal games, but ffxiii versus is better than ffxiii what will they think then?

i say this because after E3 square said they would have loved to make versus multiplatform but the game was started on a ps3 specific engine not crystal tools. similar to why i expect all future metal gear solids to be on both but not mgs4. the time and money involved to port is the price of one or two new games.
