What does Silent Hill's poor performance mean?

Helldescent:

"The latest Silent Hill, Silent Hill: Homecoming has only seen a US release, but even for a one-region release has performed pretty poorly. This can be simply put down to little to no advertising from Konami and general average reviews.

Here's to hoping the series makes a roaring comeback and changes peoples perception on horror games and encourages developers to take a similar route with deeper storylines with deep characters and stories that are so intricate that you can discuss for years - like the old Silent Hills. That's not to say Resident Evil style shattering heads isn't great fun, we just need the old properly scary games back for a bit of variety."

I means they shouldn't have screwed up and went with a western Dev. Better games=better sales=longer legs.

It looks like a last gen title with some next gen polish. I rented this and wasn't impressed.

4 - I agree with some of the things author stated,
mainly that they need to get the original team together to create the next one, which I hope they do. I didn't buy this one because many said it didn't feel as good as the others, and other reasons for me to not buy this were ideas taken from movie?! Seriously, why the need to borrow ideas from the movie? I hated the transition from normal to hell world, and mostly the nurses, I thought they were horrible (in a bad way) in the movie and the game, looked as if they were zombie strippers (bad comparison but still gets the point across).

Also, I agree how the author said that Pyramid Head is just used for the sake of coolness and not relevance to the story or the characters. I don't want Silent Hill stories to go down hill, not mediocre stories like Resident-Evil or Dead Space, though both are great games but one can't deny the stories are borrowed ideas mixed around differently. Silent Hill is the only series where I found stories worth while (in terms of horror games) and deeply emotional.
