Virtua Tennis Online on Xbox 360 Only
46
Sega put another dagger in the PlayStation 3 this week revealing that Virtua Tennis fans looking for the best experience in the next generation will find that only on the Xbox 360.
The company said that Virtua Tennis 3 would be the first Xbox 360 game playable in 1080p - so-called Full HD. The game was already revealed to be one of the first 1080p games on the PS3.
A bigger blow is that only Xbox 360 players will be able to take Virtua Tennis 3 online. While PS3 owners will have to settle for playing in their homes only, Xbox 360 owners will find a full Xbox Live experience including singles and doubles ranked and unranked matches.
Also exclusive to the Xbox 360 is VT: TV - an online spectator mode where you can watch other players duke it out.

Gee sherlock, maybe people who have a PS3 and not a 360 will buy it. So SEGA screwed the PS3 owners by making the 360 version online. They'll probably do the same thing with VF5. I hate SEGA for doing this, but what are you gonna do?

Sega isnt 'screwing' anyone,
It has online play on the 360 because:
- Microsoft forces games to have online modes
- Microsoft handles all online play so Sega dont have to worry about it
If Sony had a service like Live then I am sure this game would be online for both platforms.
If you want to blame anyone then blame Sony

virtua tennis from dreamcast to now is a hot series.top spin did a good job but still doesn't hold a candle to vt.it's funny though.some 360 gamers act like people don't have friends that can come over and play with us.like the only way to play is online or nothing.how sad is that.the only friends some of these people have is through a game online.i don't need online in every game.i don't need achievments or gamer points to have fun with a game.
plus,we already knew the ps3 version was offline.this isn't new news.

I hate to agree with 360 people but they're right on this one (minus the ones who try to rub it in our face like 3 year olds). Like the game or not, it sucks there is no online for PS3. I MIGHT have bought this game but now there is no way. I can't remember the last game I bought that didn't have an online option.
If you're a fanboy then you'll say who cares, tennis sucks anyway, yada yada yada. It's not the end of the world by any means, but, if you're a gamer...this isn't cool.

Speak your own mind it's okay. If Sega said the PS3 version would be online and not the 360 version you would sh8t in your pants. They we would get this spill about the mighty PS3 network and the Cell processor spec and other pro-sony stuff.

All this talk over no online play? If Killzone 2 or Halo 3 are announced as no online...THEN we can kill eachother....but a Tennis game? There's really no purpose to have online play in a tennis game. Who sits there at night and plays some dude from Arkansas in a game of tennis? That's pathetic...
I don't want to play someone I don't know...
I don't want to play tennis online...
I don't want to play tennis...even on the wii...cuz even that is BORING

"ER1X - You won't buy this game because there's no online play? You're kidding me!!! What the frick is wrong with you?"
Ohhh, I don't know...maybe I prefer to get some life out of my games and online offers that for me. Most of my offline friends don't game so a bunch of peeps coming over to play games offline is out of the question. Sitting there beating the computer 6-0,6-0, 6-0 doesn't sound too fun to me. It's not like I'm a huge friggin tennis fan but a variety of games keeps things interesting.
It's my personal opinion, I'm sorry you don't agree with it...lol.
Like I mentioned, the fanboys will say it's a tennis game an no big deal and you just proved me right. Go pop some of those zits before mommy tells you it's time for bed.

15 - Sony needs to make more of an effort.
If Sony wants to rival Xbox Live they need to make sure as many games as possible have online play. I like that its free and open compared to XBL but they really need to make more of an effort if they ever plan to rival MS. If there is one aspect that Sony needs to put more effort into when it comes to the PS3 I would say this is it.

And that's what was just very simple to know
Free PS3 service online: low quality
Premium XBL online service: high quality
This ain't the first game, remember Tony Hawk same story, it won't be the last one.
That's the advantage of a unified online service people. And I am more then happy to pay for it. Nothing's for free and real good guys. Just accept it.
The 360 is the best gaming experience around, period.

This is one of the bigger advantages of the 360; the fact that most games that should have online capabilities, WILL have online capabilities. Fortunately for me, I plan on being a multiplatform console owner. I hope the 360's Virtual Fighter will also be online.

"Nothing's for free and real good guys!"
To me, membership to this site is free and I think it's pretty good.
I couldn't care for the Tennis game as it's not the kind of game I would purchase. I agree with what "sodslawgy" said about the critea required for games being released on the Xbox360.
Sega simply didn't see the point in developing an online option for the PS3 version because it holds no credibility to them, where as they would get a cut from M$ on the XboxLive subsciption - kinda like a commission. Makes sense, in a business sense.
I guess M$ and their following of self righteous supporters can "WIN" this argument then - give yourself a sticker guys.

The membership of this site is paid for you, by advertisers you have to watch commercial stuff from. Plus that's a whole other story and you know it.
Get a free car if you like.
Get free groceries. You can get them, from the trash can
Get a free internet connection... ads all around probably and sllooowwww
It's not about this tennis game. It's about the larger picture dude. Tony Hawk also has no online support for the PS3. More games will follow. Sega didn't put it in because they were forced. They know that replay value is also in multiplayer stuff. That people want that this gen, that the TV function is freaking great like in PGR3
It's not about winning an argument. These are facts. Facts that Sony fans are missing out on things. If you like this game ore not. Multiple games will miss out on this.
If you want the best gaming experience, the 360 is the choice. It's just that simple

is returning, always enjoyed this series, how many systems would this game be pushing anyway. My thought would be very few, if not none, for both systems. F1 is still going to be my first PS3 title. I would have bought this, online or not, for the 360. I like the gamerscore thing. Sega can always add online play later if there is a demand for PS3 online play.

didn't do online for the PS3 because they would have to build an host the servers.plus eat the cost of running the servers. with xbox live all of that is taken care of with no cost to SEGA!!Sony might help with the cost of online for there 1st party games(RFOM an SOCOM ps2)the reason why all EA games are online is because EA run the servers for all there games.if anybody that plays madden online would know about all the lag an dropped games because EA games aren't run by MS.so unless sony pay to host the online part of the game, then many more games are gonna lack online.as a developer why would I pay to host online servers for this game on this system when I can have online done for free or little cost on another system!

You guys are girls. How can you blow this off. If this was the other way around DJ would be posting a 4 paragraph post about the PS3's superior specs. He also would bash the heck out of M$. I think that the reason for this game not being online is because of SONY'S FREE PUNK A$$ NETWORK. That is the bottom line. DJ and JIN you guys are crazy.

30.1 - It isn't that it is a tennis game...
Could be football, a shooter, a card game...anything.
The reason people care is simply because it is the EXACT SAME game on two systems, with one having online and the other without it.
That obviously raises some questions.
