GTA IV DLC to be available in shops?

GI.Biz writes: "The new downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV is set to be available in stores as well as via Xbox Live, according to a new listing on the website of US retailer GameStop.

It prices GTA IV: The Lost & Damned at USD 19.99 (GBP 13 / EUR 15) and, according to GameStop, consumers won't get an actual disc but a "token card" with a unique code that lets them buy the expansion pack via Live."

Kind of makes sense I guess. MS need to maximise they're potential customer base with this and seeing the content is primarily single player orientated it will probably appeal to a lot of people who don't have an Xbox Live subscription.

This is a smart move by MS because a lot of GTA owners are casual gamers and probably dont know about the DLC and a retail copy could make them more aware

Not to mention If this is true MS could advertise it as their own exclusive GTA game

Well unless you can run the DLC without the original game (extremely unlikely) I don't see how you could push this as an "exclusive GTA game".

Yeah they could with an advert saying:

"GTA: The Lost & Damned EXCLUSIVELY on Xbox 360" with the retail box of the content. Then in small letters at the bottom say it requires GTA:IV and Xbox Live to play

Causal gamers will likely miss the small print and think its an exclusive game

casual gamers will get shafted because they dont know it requires a main game (this is a first time ever expansion on a console you can only play with the maingame + online is a must)

bad idea imo.

They should release a gold version of gta for 30 € bundled withthe expansion

actually ghoul, the 30$ Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion also requires the original game, it was sold on the XBL marketplace, sold as a package by itself in stores, and also included in the GOTY edition of oblivion, and that was a year ago so you are misinformed my friend, the GTA DLC requiring the original game is nothing new

"Causal gamers will likely miss the small print and think its an exclusive game"

Are you saying that casual gamers have inferior intellect to their hardcore gamer counterparts? :)

Yes >_> at least when it comes to games

Sales of games like Mario and Sonic oylmpics, Wii Paly/Fit/Music compared to games like LBP or Viva Pinata kinda confirms it

Excluisive, GTA and X360 will be enough to convince them

I dont think they need to do this seeing as the NXE is covered with adverts. Every the inch of dashboard will be covered with adverts for this when it drops.

Should be sweet. GTA4 haters should be hushed. The game was sweet, if you didn't think it was then you should probably stop gaming altogether. Considering this episode cost a quarter of what GTA4's estimated development costs was, should be sweet. And Microsoft puttin it in shops will increase awareness, which it will need 2 do if this is to sell big (which would be sweet as it will mean more downloadable games)

Yeah ok. So it wasnt 'amazing' like everyone thought it was gonna be, but i still highly enjoyed it and still think its the best GTA to date. It was another victim of the over hype all these games get nowadays. Without this hype people would have stopped the moaning and just had fun with it. I think if anything, the internet (videos, previews etc) have made this hype go overboard.

this would back fire for sure, for one you need to be a gold live member,2 have the original game.a retailers nightmare there.you can see all the returns coming back on that idea not to mention your buisness been pointed at with the word rip off,con artist etc.the casual market would think put in and play then you find its going to cost you $100 to play it without the above mentioned

Where do you get that you have to be a gold member? This is a SP expansion and Silver(ie FREE) accounts can still access everything but MP on Live.

As far as people not realizing that you need the full game that will probably happen in a few cases but if you are that stupid to not read what your buying then well you deserve it.

I won't be buying it unless they bring it out on a disc, so I won't be buying it then.

I don't trust dLC because its not future proof, this is why I waited for the oblivion extras to come out on dvd and I am glad I did.

ges i will be doing that because i dont have a credit card. it annoys me that i can use my debit card on live because if i want to pay my live subscription i need to go out. then again i only payed £25 for years worth of live off play.com play trade.

i will probly get it if its got more to do in it. gta4 once i completed it i had nowt to do basically. in san andreas i had loads of things to do. what annoys me the most is that you cant do much with the money you get except buy weapons and clothes and food. in sanandreas you could buy properties, gamble and mod cars.

10 - So pretty much this is like an Expansion
if it is as BIG as they say, DLC makes it sound small and cheap.
