Microsoft Hints Halo 3 for PC, Again?

With MS' relaunched GFW initiative, one would wonder where Microsoft is planning to go with their PC gaming business after launching the upcoming Games for Windows - LIVE marketplace.

A clue might just have appeared right under MS' nose...

2 - Its bound to come
And dare I say, Gears of war 2 will come to PCs too, howsoever they may deny. Only games which are sure not to come on PCs are Sony games. Otherwise, even MGSs and FFs land on PC, although very very late.
Also, Halo wars will come to PCs too.....may be ported by some other studio, it will come to PCs.

It will be ported likely by the new studio which will take Ensemble's place. Why a new studio instead of just keeping Ensemble and moving staff around I don't know.

3 - well couldbe
MS employee on a website was stating there was no interest in bringing Halo 3 because Halo 2 sales were so poor, why they were poor seems to be of no concern (vista only what a joke)

I hope this ad is more than xbox advertising int he windows client.

4 - @This is one of the big reasons...
... that I've never purchased an XBOX360. All noteworthy exclusives are ported to PC. Invest the money that you would put in to the 360 in to a great graphics card, and SHAZAM!

Gears of War II and Fable II (PC Versions) on the way? All your DLC and add-on content are belong to us.

according to the xbox fanboys that it will never be ported to the PC. Remember never say never.

I could care less whether it goes to the PC or not, I've already played it on my 360 and enjoyed it. If the PC guys get this game then good on them and have fun with it.

Oh it will come to Windows, it's only a matter of time. Both other Halo games came to PC late in the game (2-3 years after console release), so if Halo 3 came out on PC early next year it would be sooner then later. Hopefully their smart and make it compatible with XP and Vista (there is no reason other then to push Vista that Halo 2 didn't run on XP). If Microsoft is going to try and start to push Games for Windows Live, I bet we will be seeing a lot more 360 ports in the future, but some more PC exclusives as well that use the system. Warhammer: Dawn of War II is probably one of the few (if only I think?) PC exclusives not coming out on 360 that offers Live support.

Really, if they want to make a bigger push, they should go back and patch a bunch of older, Games For Windows (sans Live) games and maybe a couple other games that never got branded Games for Windows Live. I don't really care if they end up getting achievements, but some of the other features, like access to my Live account for chatting with my friends while I'm gaming would be great. And a more centralized patch download service would be great too.

Yes Halo 2 is at the top but look at the bottom of the little page pics. Halo 3 is blended into the background of the banner at the bottom, but you can read it.

Since both Halo 2 and Gears on PC sold like crap, I doubt MS and Epic are willing to lose more money (and weaken the Xbox brand). PC gamers are not interested in any of these franchises (although I did finish Halo 1 on PC), they also don't care about Halo Wars. Why? Because they have tons of shooters and strategy games much more suitable for their platform. Face it, the only people that want to see Halo 3 and Gears 2 on PC are kids that just want to bash X360 on the net, repeating "I'm gonna play the superior PC version" (even though they won't). MS, Bungie, Epic and PC gamers? They just don't see the point.

Well, Microsoft kind of shot itself in the foot with Halo 2 releasing it 2 or 3 years after it came out on consoles, so obviously people lost interest in it, not to mention it is a Vista only game, and hardly anyone bought Vista just to play this game (I only bought it because I got it for like 15 bucks, Halo 2 Vista that is). And Gears of War, well, that has to be the buggiest Games for Windows Live game, with Fallout 3 a close second. Hardly worth purchasing.

I think the biggest thing is that many PC gamers already have access to a myriad of great games that are similar to these already, with some being quite superior (no need for names). Not dissing these games, but they are a little streamlined for easy playing on consoles compared to other PC games. Also, both games didn't really receive much of a graphical upgrade to really interest PC gamers in their purchase, especially Halo 2 Vista (Gears does look better, but not too much vs the 360 version).

Now, if they tune Halo 3 a bit and make it more suited for PC gamers, it might work out well. Upgrade the graphics, tweak the balancing a bit more for a PC user and it might work quite well.

The original Halo did well on PC though I believe. I certainly enjoyed it when it came out.

I would expect the port would be a lot easier than xbox 1 games to pc. Gears 2 will come to windows as well, they like money.
