IGN: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Review

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix doesn't have any frills and its mechanics -- while extremely well-tuned -- are simple. This is a game very dissimilar to modern fighters because it doesn't shower you with extra modes, art galleries or unlockables. It's admirably precise and meant for hardcore players, despite its increased approachability.

So HD Remix isn't for everyone, but the gameplay represented in this download is extraordinarily balanced and deep. IGN spent hours learning the ways of the retooled Fei Long and just barely scratched the surface of it all. For such a reasonable price of $14.99, HD Remix is a very hard game to pass up.

One of the definitive reasons why Akuma is the most bad @$$ fighter ever. Hands down my strongest character in the Street Fighter series, especially in the MvC line.

A very solid score for a game that came out well over a decade ago. I mean, besides the graphics not much has really been done to the game so that's pretty impressive. Though I know some were looking for a bigger leap in this remake.

At any rate I am stoked and getting this the very first day it hits PSN! I simply cannot wait... and while SFIV is my most anticipated title... this will certainly be a nice little sum'n to tide me over till the 'main course' shall we say! :)

This is gameplay at its peak with 2d Sonic and Mario. These are the games that gaming stands on put Wolfenstein and DOOM in there too.

Dammit are you serious? I assume it has achievements though. Are we getting a patch?

I'll get it eventually anyway, but trophies could have made this game so much better. I don't find playing by myself very fun, especially if there is no reason to do so (besides learning a character). With trophies I would actually be striving for something while playing, beyond just winning. They definitley should have been included in this game.

Probably like crap just like any other fighting game or a game that requires the use of the D-Pad.

I swear when playing MK vs DC, for the life of me instead of doing half circle back, the stupid character jumps instead.

7.2 - How do you think?

The 360 has a pad that's set on a rotating mechanism, instead of the equally separated "cross" design on the PS pad. Infinitely more responsive and precise that way, IMO (the Playstation design).

The PS pad has its own set of annoyances, but I've been using it for so long, it's second nature to me to feel comfortable when playing on it.

9 - getting 360 version - ps2 style

so glad i invested in the adapter to hook up a PS2 pad to my 360. Its will be perfect for this game, as it was for MK vs DCU, UMK3, SS2 and any other 2D fighter...

10 - Eat that Game Trailers

I could have sworn that the video editor from Gametrailers said the ps3 controller was crap? Oh well, this game is gonna be great on my ps3 even though I own both systems. I cant even use my dpad on the 360 to do anything simple like just equiping my claymores. I always end up turning on my night vision.

11 - enjoying it where it belongs

As soon as it hits PSN I'm grabbing it. There is no way to forget playing the original World Warrior on Super Nintendo and scouring Nintendo Power to get the code to play doubles of any character. I remember playing the 3D0 version of SSF2Turbo at a Service Merchandise in Connecticut with a friend and being in awe. I picked up every Alpha on PS1. I hit up 3rd Strike, Alpha 3 and the Vs. series all on Dreamcast. This has just been to long in the waiting...

I just dont understand why it takes these devs so long to make these games? Their should already be a Marvel Vs. Capcom game out by now. It makes me think why don't they make all of these incredible games instead of the crappy games thats been coming out? Its all about money for them right?
