The full article http://www.edge-online.com/... makes an interesting read.

It sounds like the first step towards computers making games themselves.

Well I hope thecomputers make it longer than Valve did. I started playing it last night and just over an hour later...I was finished. Where's the rest of the game Valve?

Yeah right =) Like you would say anything positive about a game that's not available on the PS3.

The game is on PC and he is entitled to his opinion. Dont get so bent out of shape. Not everyone is going to love a 4 hour game after spending 50 bucks. Use your head.

If any of you had friends you would be able to enjoy the multiplayer as well...

It's impossible to beat the game in an hour, so you are lying.

There are certain parts of the games where you have to stay in a specific location for a set period of time--5, 10, etc. minutes. Add those up and you'll reach close to an hour. Add up the rest of the game and it'll be at least 3 hours total on normal (aka *EASY*) difficulty if you don't speed run. It'll take you considerably longer on Advanced and Expert.

No Bob, I bought the PC version on Steam and there is no waiting in the safety rooms. Sorry. The only hold time is at the very end when you are waiting on the roof fighting off one wave after another. It took me just over an hour to go through the entire experience.

And to the person that thinks MGS4 is 4 hours the last time you checked you must have been at the end of Act I. Most reviews clocked in almost 20 hours NOT INCLUDING THE CUTSCENES. Over twice as long as Gears 2 in just the game play portions alone. Sorry but you fail.

The were able to take such a simple concept and make it work in a way that is enjoyable and highly replayable.

I have yet to try "Left 4 Dead", but I found the article an interesting read on where gameplay pacing and storyline might be heading in the near future.

5 - If I see it cheap I might pick it up later on.
After 2 years of overpaying for XBL (they started charging me the monthly rate at $8 when my free month ran out and I didn't find out till later that is was cheaper for annual) I really didn't see the point paying to have homophobic, racist 12 year olds scream obscenities at me. If they port this to the PS3 I might give it a try, or I may give it a whirl on the PC at some point. Hopefully EA will make it happen like the rumors say. I don't know anyone on XBL. Not much point picking up a co-op game when you have no one you know to play with and everyone in my 30 something crowd owns PS3's.

On a side not, I never could figure out why so many made it out like Orange box on the PS3 was unplayable. I finally finished it a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic! I think I got stuck in a wall once, but other than that all 3 episodes played out nicely.

Valve changed the FPS genre forever when Half Life came out with the games compelling stoytelling and im excited to see how Valve implements the AI Director into a SP experience. even if ur a Valve fan or not, they deserve respect for what they have done so far in their history.

i am totally satisfyed with L4D. i finished Dear Air last night on Advanced with some mates and a stranger (who even without a mic was a great teammate) and the finale was fantastic. all i could say to myself was "this finale has to be almost impossible on Expert". Zombies from every direction possible and very hard to defend. cant wait to get home and knock out Blood Harvest.

7.1 - I did it on expert last night.
And it took us like 5 or 6 tries, we had to place the tanks everywhere and each watched a corner of the gun, it was hectic but so awesome.

if you have 4 of your buddies around playing 2 hours is perfect imo for all 4 of ya to game thru a movie. i have no idea why some are bashing the game for its length. if 1 movie took 4 hours id go insane. the pacing and length of the movies is perfect.

11 - I quite like the length of the campaigns.
It's not like wow where you have to give up an entire night to go do 1 raid thing with your friends, or to do an instance poorly and waste 2 hours, doing well, nothing.

It's fun jump in an play, and it has the best feature ever in a videogame, the "take a break" feature lets the AI take over your carachter if you need to do something, which is awesome. Absolutely every game needs this feature.

Left 4 Dead isn't about "beating the game." It's about achieving the most primal goal there is - survival. Honestly, you don't need a plot pr 10 hours of cutscenes to make this work. You need point A, point B, weapons, and enemies. Left 4 Dead takes these things and sorts them into a great package that can be played over and over again (especially with your friends).

I love this game.
