Microsoft Creeps Us Out With Lips TV Spots

Microsoft is aware that Nintendo is the company that "puts more smiles on more faces," so it doesn't bother trying to compete on the happy front. Instead, the company wants to invade your nightmares, filling them with hollowed out heads and disembodied mouth creatures. The company's newest creative torment is for the iNiS developed Xbox 360 singing game Lips, in which a man is haunted by a stalking pair of sentient, lyric-forgetting lips. The mouth beast travels across harsh terrain and unfavorable weather conditions to force the man to do his bidding - to sing A-Ha's "Take On Me" for the sadistic ambling maw's delight. Honestly, this Lips commercial reminded me a lot of Sony's style of advertising except they used a catchy song and unique voice that gave it that extra bump. I want Lips now. lol. After seeing Resistance 2 commercials I was almost too weirded out to play it. /sarcasm

5 - Microsoft is attempting an very dangerous ad risk.

This is similar to sony, you have odd commercials that tend to hold the attention of the market for longer but risk losing the average person because it's "too" bizarre, I bet eventually you'll see more regular adds along side these adds to garner attention.

that commercial made me want lips now i like it alot.

BUT, I do agree that the commercial that vere off to this other thing other then gaming, while its cute and doable most fail.

this lips commercial does what they all have been doing, conveying the message and at the very end showing a quick glance of people playing and then the logo.

sony is doing it as well now with these dumb ads as well, showing buildings with snidbits of games refelecting on them and then showing a couple looking up, pointless and also a bad move.
Microsft did them with those head ads, where the camera turn around a head thats open with the people in it, those stink to.

They do get the message across in a way and they arent god awful but to the wrong people.

whatever happened to cool tv ads for games and all things related to games.

even though the gears2 ads and R2 ads do hype me up but i think thats the dev commercial for those games and not ms themselves, its the ads sony and ms make to promote themselves is where the problem lies.

Both the Gears2 and R2 ad do a good job of intriguing the player. Already finished Gears2 campaign and played many hours of multiplayer and every time I see the commercial it makes me want to pick up the controller and play again.

I don't know how people in the states will react to such a commercial but in the UK it will definitely be a hit.Linx,Oasis,Oxy,vauxhall etc all have very weird commercials and they all are hits with the viewing public.

I think for who they are targeting the game at (mostly Europeans), it gets the job done.For me, it was a good advert.

on-topic, that advert was rubbish, i know im a bit of a Sony Fanboy, but if i owned and loved my 360 it wouldnt make me buy it, at least show people having fun with it more. Look at ALL the wii ads, families of people laughing and smiling, friendly smack-talk on the Fifa adverts, and it makes people want them coz they look like fun.
