Capcom All-Time Sales Data

Capcom updated their all-time sales data at their investor relations site. Notably, two PSP games are in the top 10 (both Monster Hunter) and Devil May Cry 4 weighs in at 8th.

1 - The Playstation brand
basically turned them into what they are today after SF2. Too bad they are one of the last great arcade games makers.

If they only release the PS2 version of MH2G on the PSN. I'll be happy! I dont care if the download takes forever cuz the full game would probably be like 3-5gigs if they ever do it.

Capcom! The best ever! Look at the top 5. Both are my favorite series from Capcom. :) Oh man Dino Crisis! The memories! Dino Crisis 4 I hope comes up. Dead Rising! Look at all those games Dead Rising is above. Holy crap Resident Evil CV for DC sold like poo.

I like the first Dina Crisis for it's dart creation. Dino Crisis 2 was pure fun! Didnt get to play Dino Crisis 3 probably didnt have money during that time.

I wish they make a Megaman Legends 3. Dunno how the story will be but they better kill off someone and they better up Megaman to X.

Dead Rising is pure fun. Having my car mess up in the basement garage was the best! I just hate the part when i had to collect 10 queens for the antidote.

I can't fault you at all for not knowing, but it is definitely base knowledge required to be part of the gaming history conversation, especially as it relates to Japan.

Mega Drive = Sega Genesis.

Who knows why Nintendo shortened two words in English to make it sound Japanese? Who knows why SEGA used to be so bad-ass? These are the questions of our lives.

yeah I know...not that many people liked 2 and thought it would carry over to 3 I guess. I'm surprised Mega Man X only sold a little over a million, I loved that game

They were a great benefit to each other. Actually, Capcom has done well for all the consoles its released games on. The are one of the best studios with some of the greatest, memorable characters and franchises outside of Nintendo.

...best game ever, i download it from the japanese store to my psp and it looks like a PS2 game, i beat it 2 times already on psp. i may get the english version once it comes out on the american store..lol i need to understand the plot!!!

7.2 - Cut them some slack
They're doing the best they can while still remaining profitable in a time when development costs are extremely high. They are always looking to put out new IPs, but its so risky at times. Remember games like Viewtiful Joe and Okami? Great games that never sold a lot. Both new ideas at the time.

For ever Dead Rising that comes along, you get about 5 Okamis that the public pays no attention to.

You have to remember, its still a business. And if they have to make Resident Evil 6, Devil May Cry 5, and Street Fighter Hyper whatever, then they'll do that to make sure that they stay in business. The original games will come, but profit comes first.

Hmmm so capcom has abandoned the PS Brand and is milking thier games... like:

PS: Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil Directors Cut, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil (On the rails shooter thing), Resident Evil 4, soon Resident Evil 5, Megaman X, Megaman X2, Megaman X3, Megaman X4, Megaman anniversary collection, Megaman X5, Megaman X6, Street Fighter Alpha 1, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter First Impact, Street Fighter Second Impact, Street Fighter Third Impact, Rival Schools: 2, Onimusha, Onimusha 2, Onimusha 3 and the list goes on and on.

Yea those games aren't milking at all, holy hypocracy batman.

The worse thing is if you look at that list, most of it happened within 6 years and that's hardly half of thier back catalog... the ammount of games they have released this cycle is pathetic in numbers... Damn the HD consoles.. now to counter the arguement that's going to come up: So then None of the above games were quality?
To counter the response: Well there was a lot more quality in that time to pick from wasn't there.
