Valve Says 'Left 4 Dead' Is Studio's Best-Received Game Ever, Splurges On Ads

Patrick Klepek of MTV Multiplayer writes:

"If you're like me, you've noticed more ads for Valve's zombie shooter "Left 4 Dead" than there ever were for "The Orange Box."

"Half-Life" is Valve's bread and butter, but a press release yesterday said pre-release buzz for "Left 4 Dead" means Valve is pouring more money into pushing "Left 4 Dead" than any Valve game before it."

why did i get dissagrees? i bought HL2 for pc. the original, theres tons of mods.garrys mod alone is AAA in my opinion. there was quite a few mods that were coop zombie mods. and it was basically you and 15 people jumping around killing those zombie things from the ravenholm level. yea this game looks good but come on , Gears coming out just 7 days before this game, i think ill go with gears.

Yeah, there are zombie mods out there for the Goldsrc and Source engines, but Left 4 Dead will be extremely polished. Those mods are fun, but they're not really the most polished games in the world, and there are oftentimes various glitches and bugs that pop up. Left 4 Dead should have none or very little of that, which it should considering its $50 price tag.

We need more zombie games out there. This is a day one purchase for me, I just love the concept. I also hope this comes out for PS3 as I would love to play with my PSN friends. I really hope this game does well so that there can be some sort of competition in the future to this title.

This has been my most anticipated FPS for two years now. I don't see how people couldn't like it. Fast paced co-op action with hordes of zombies, being able to play as the infected trying to prevent your friends getting to there goal. I cant wait to stalk my friends waiting for the perfect time to take them out.

I just bought an xbox and even I'm excited for this game. My only gripe though is that the zombies seem to be a bit too fast and also you don't turn into a zombie yourself if killed by one. That was what made the zombie mod for CS: SOURCE so fun. You can have you and 8 of your buddies build a barricade but if you all let your guard down for that split second and a zombie runs into the room you'd all either have to unload hell on him or you'll all turn into zombies. Exciting moments!

10 - Im going to buy it. . .but,
. . .I dunno. .I have a question.about longevity.Theres no story,so gameplay is key. Correct me if Im wrong,theres 4 or 5 scenarios? They random spawn points etc.thats what I cant wait for. But. . .I hope. . .they atleast make DLC free. . .cuz obviously theres going to be alot more maps added.And if it just comes with 4 or 5. . .I dont want to feel like I paid $120 for half a game(thats how much it is over here) btw,I did read before,originally there was going to be 12 scenarios I think? Well,alot more than what their releasing with the game,and if 2 weeks down the line they make us pay for what they intended to put in at the start. . . That wouldnt be cool.

Valve never has DLC that costs money (on the PC, at least...). The movie number has always been four. With five scenes per movie, that makes the total map count twenty, which should last a pretty good amount. And if you ever get tired of those, there will be a ton of user-created content (again, on the PC).
