but low polygon character models, environments, and shockingly poor draw-distance. Lighting from gun-fire/explosions and shadows are terribly simplified and are worse than some last-gen games like Conker on the original Xbox.

Basically, it looks like a typical Unreal Engine game that compromises on everything else for the sake of texture data. Obviously, the Xbox360 can do better than this, although the average consumer may not really care as long as it's sufficiently flashy and bloody.

no sh!t it's cause it's a cam shot, it shouldn't be viewed liked that, it should be viewed on your TV, so you can get the full clarity.

What DJ was trying to say is that people saying that Gears 2 looks like Gears 1, has nothing to do with the "blue stripes".

Nobody mentioned the blue stripes and they don't need to. The game isn't much improved from the first one visually and these screens as well as a lot others without stripes of any kind can prove that.

Blue stripes or not the game looks like Gears 1 and that was the main point. So forget about the damn blue stripes.

Oh yes. The old "looks the same" defense. You sony boys need to find start using a new one because that doesn't work anymore. But of course Motorstorm 2 and Resistance 2 are graphically above and beyond their predecessors, right? A recent article said Resistance 2 looked like Halo 2. I have my issue of Game Informer here and they specifically say "it's leaps and bounds better graphically and gameplay wise."

In short, Sony fanboys think it looks the same while professional game journalists think it looks way better. :)

Every character model looks the same in EPICs world, you seen unreal tournament? Character models look pretty much the same, don't get me wrong though - i love them.

Everyone has their own preferences. You can compare art-direction styles, but you can't compare 2 games of equal graphical prowess. You can however compare 2 games of different graphical prowess. MGS4 has better graphics than GeoW1 because MGS4 has HDR lighting, Dynamic shadowing, dynamic lighting, realistic facial expressions, interactive water, better lip-syncing, and better motion capture. Granted, GeoW1 was released in 2006. Now with GeoW2, it looks like Epic has closed all those gaps and it's going to be the art-direction GeoW2 and MGS4 took which will decide which game "looks better"

I agree that bioshock looks better on 360 however what do you expect when it is well known that unreal engine 3 and ps3 do not work that great together. I agree with everything Mario is saying. UE3 is documented to not work well with PS3. I wouldn't base the UE3 as the de-facto standard because UE3 was designed as a Multiplatform engine. A better comparison of a console's potential is between each console's flagship game.

Sony's is KZ2, and 360's is most likely GeoW2. Graphical prowess, not art-direction. Don't get the two mixed up.

First, i own both a 360 and ps3! I do not hate the unreal engine. I just buy all my unreal engine games for my 360 as i know that the engine is better suited to the 360 due to its architecture being similar to a PC. As FantasyStar said the UE3 is built for multiplatform games hence why the 360 and pc run the engine great due to having similar architectures! This is by no means a dig at the PS3, if anything it is epics fault for not optimizing the engine better for ps3!

ps3 has enough power to convert bio shock to bioshitty
ps3 can load only 125-150MB texture compare to 350+MB of xbox360
so see the Blu-ray cant help ps3 for more and high quality texture and with out HDD it cant work for game
an also data in Blu-ray should repeated twice or 3times in the disc to reach sufficient transfer rate(25GB/2=12.5GB) + 5GB install show us that Blu-ray for gaming can hold equal data as DVD-DL with higher cost(Blu-ray+HDD+Blu-ray Drive=high cost&low performance )

How can you say you know resistance 2 wont be? You know nothing about resistance 2 or gears 2 yet! When you play and complete BOTH then you may state this. No doubt about it, Gears 2 looks fantastic as does resistance 2, however, i personally believe that neither game has recieved much of an upgrade in terms of graphics. The focus has been applied more to the online modes.

As for GOTY, i believe LBP has a very good chance of winning from my impressions from the beta, however, like i said it is still too early to tell!

Again i agree with what your saying. MGS4 looks good but it is not the best graphical game out there! Your right about bioshock too. Looks great! Probably some of the best water effects in any game!
