Koei has made its living by putting out niche titles, all of which share a similar action/strategy flavor. The Xbox and Xbox 360 have seen more than a few of Koei's more popular titles, each with the Warriors branding in common.
Warriors Orochi is developer Omega Force's equivalent to an all-star game. Borrowing characters and features from the eleventy-million Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games before it, Orochi ends up being an action/strategy team-up series with its own story thrown in for freshness.
In traditional, follow-up fashion, Warriors Orochi 2 picks up where the original left off-with the Demon King defeated by a joint effort between Koei's longstanding IPs. A few additional characters taken from Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends and some original demon and mystic player characters, plus a new, plot-driven reason for a Japanese/Chinese team-up (a new antagonist that is the embodiment of evil, of course), and, voila!, Warriors Orochi 2 is forged to wipe the nasty taste that the original left in most gamers' mouths. Unfortunately, this new forging is still cast from the same mold that made Warriors Orochi brittle."
