Xbox 360 gets two exclusive Tomb Raider Underworld chapters

Eidos has announced that two new chapters for Tomb Raider Underworld will be released exclusively for Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The two chapters are said to include six hours of gameplay, with the first hitting Xbox LIVE Marketplace before the year's end. The second will be released in 2009. Eidos also revealed that a demo of Lara's upcoming adventure will also be available on Xbox LIVE this month.

I'm angry too but not at the fact that 360 is getting exclusive content. It's the fact that you have to buy it. PC always get these contents for free and shouldn't these extra be included in the final game. It feels like companies are giving us half finish games and expect us to buy the rest later on.

that this is a smart move! is there a need to treat TR the same as bigger franchises like GTAIV and Fallout3? when was the last time anybody played a 'good' TR game? the Anniversary, right? and that is the remake version of the 1st one if I'm not mistaken! this is like throwing gold into a well and hoping for a big boob fairy come out of the well giving more golds! it's like something not too smart to do! what if the game turn out to be just average? will people give a rat about the DLC that only-god-knows-will-come-out-w hen? that's just my opinion. Microsoft is just giving money to EVERYONE this last 24 months. Finally turning a game division profit has really prompted them to start dropping price and buying up exclusive content.

Funny thing is..When I compare what the 360 and PS3 have going forward, the Playstation line murders the 360's. I would rather have awesome exclusive GAMES than some half-assed, usually late, pay-for DLC that's exclusive for my system.

It's too bad this DLC thing has come to this, it was nice when developers used to include thier whole game on delivery media with the possibility of an exclusive character unlock or cheat. This DLC pissing match the Microsoft is trying to put on is retarded.

Actually i think that the PS3 and 360 are both getting seperate EXCLUSIVE content for Mirrors Edge...so in a way MS is still getting content on multi-plat games that the PS3 isn't...

Expansions of GTA IV and Fallout 3 exclusively on XBOX 360. I mean this helps set the tone that the 360 is the console to get and that XBOX Live is way better.

Just simple things like this keep PS3 an afterthought to so many hardcore gamers.

And it's nothing more than just attitude. Like 2 kids sitting in class and the teacher asks which one of you wants to go on a field trip. And 1 kid is like ME ME ME ME ME!! and the other kid is just sitting there wishing he would go.

It's very frustrating that Sony is so uncompetitive. They just have never faced a rival like Microsoft.

People wonder why I criticize Sony and PS3. They are just getting it handed to them and not fighting back.

- Hard to Develop for -> Kaz made it a focus to provide Dev with better tools. EDGE tool set, etc ...

- No games -> Heavy focus on first party content. You'll see that in the games you play this Fall and into 09

The next issue is price. They will get it down to $299.99 but not on your timeframe.

The only thing where Sony (or the PS3) is not competitive is its price. Its not its value, though. But other then that, I think it is very competitive.

I just don't understand the reasoning why Studios decide not to release DLC for one machine. Even if MS would pay them off. Do they really make so much more thru the payout then say selling twice as much on two platforms ? I understand why a title is exclusive (but even that is mostly done thru 1st parties), because it includes development costs on each platform. But DLC ? Its art. Done once costs no extra cent on the other platform as soon as you have the game infrastructure up and running (means original game). I really feel like treated like a second class gamer. OK, if that's what it is, I won't buy those games any more.

Well, yeah, I know it would just signal to the studios, some games won't sell on the PS3. I don't really care. They might wonder, why PS3 exclusives are all on top of the list, then.

It's great to see the money MS collects from LIVE is being used to get exclusive DLC on multi-plat games.

Lately, i kinda feel sorry for the ps3.... it's like since Sept started, MS rolled up their sleeves and are showing Sony that they are a worthy opppnent.
First with the price drops....
then the 360 sells more in Japan than the ps3...
now the 360 is selling more than the ps3 worldwide....
Bioshock looks like Biosh1t...
and now exclusive DLC for Tonb Raider!
and exclsive 360 DLC coming this holiday season for GTA4 and Fallout 3.....

I mean.... DAMN!!!!!

I'm getting pretty sick of MS's putting their money in all the studio's pockets to short change PS3 owners. I think it's a joke, What MS is pulling cause they don't have their own studios; try to short change PS3 owners and Try to justify the 50 bucks a year by making you pay for that and then even more for this content. Instead of bribing companies - make another exclusive game maybe MS???

That's right MS will never make xbox live free, 360 owners are getting screwed, and most don't even realize it - what the hell are you paying for anyway, i get just about the same thing on PSN for free? Better community features? You keep telling yourselves that if it makes you feel better.

Guess what you're just pissing PS3 fans off, and the more you do this the less likely we'll buy 360 or your next console. And yea, Uncharted is a lot better than Tomb Raider anymore, everyone knows that, the original TR team doesn't even make Tomb raider anymore. Yea you get extra content, but you have to PAY for it, and most people don't even bother, and of course all Arcade owners won't.

fact is they could have made it as a whole game in 1 disc or 2. Remember halo offering new maps within months? Yeh thats probably due to 1 DVD restriction.

Halo had short offerings, GTA4 was short, TR will probably be short. MS KNOWS DVD would be a problem but LIVE was their solution. GTA DLC will compensate the short game. So more money.

Who buys TR anyways?
