This is true, but Mark implies that they worked on the two in tandem the first time around, and being that I am not qualified to doubt that, maybe they did.

I know alot of us think you can just flip a switch once a game is complete and port it over, but maybe it isnt that simple.

No you can't flip a switch but members of the Unreal Developer Network are already playing a level of Gears 2 on the PC. Almost everyone in the Network is aware of this and know it is nothing but politics by Mark right now.

No because Mark is a businessman and he is simply conducting the age old tact known as product focus. In order to make sure sales are at their best it is necessary to reassure people that there will be no other version.

Then 8 months from now they will announce the PC version and Mark will say, "The demand was just so overwhelming. We never expected that and we certainly back PC gaming. We really never intended to make a PC version and our people have worked quite hard"

Last time around I had already played 5 levels, 5 levels on the PC while Gears was launching on the 360 and Mark was telling people there was no PC version currently in development. Everyone with a license was, in the meanwhile, laughing our collective asses off.

It doesn't mean Mark is a bad guy. Quite the contrary, he is a great guy. He isn't being truthful but he also isn't lying for malicious reasons. It's simply business with him. When you deal with Mark and get to know him you understand that. I don't care for it but it's just Mark being Mark and everyone that knows him knows this.

And this time around, he could just be telling the truth about no PC version. So go play your "PC version" that maybe or maybe not show up next year. Epic didn't make a profit difference when it was released on the PC, but on the 360, it sold extremely well. What makes you think Epic would strike that path again after finding the 360 to be gold for Gears. I'll just wait for the crybabies to start crying how they feel cheated and don't want to buy 360 for the game, and how they are so "Anti-Epic" now that the game won't be released outside the 360.

but I was under the impression that Gears for PC sold decently (but not great). Also, people have to keep in mind 360 games are mostly made on the PC (run/tested on the 360), there isn't really much of a "port" to be done.

yeah ur rite gears2 MIGHT (resistance 2) be the best graphics this year, but killzone2 is cming out nxt year, which is the best graphics on any consle to date.

Don't know about all that man. I've been playing Gears 1 for the past week, and it doesn't look all that great anymore compared to the first time I played it. When I first played Gears 1, it blew my mind away and couldn't believe those kind of graphics were possible on a console.

Now it looks very dated. Granted I am speaking of Gears 1, but I just don't think Gears 2 will have the same kind of graphical impact. Nonetheless I love the gameplay, the gore, the characters, and everything about it as a video game. But Gears 2 is just going to be an optimized version of Gears 1. Which isn't a bad thing, but to say it's the best looking game compared to Killzone 2 is just plain fanboyism. They are at minimal equal but on a personal opinion KZ2 looks better.

IMO one game that owns Killzone 2 and Gears is Wipeout HD. I can play that game from 1 feet away and it will still have crazy amounts of detail on the textures and great anti-aliasing. That game has some seriously mind-melting graphics that has never been seen before. And you have to see it on a big 46" and up TV to understand.

GeoW 1 did poorly in sales on the PC. There is no reason to port GeOW 2 as there won't be a return in investment. Ask yourself, does it make sense to port #2 when it will only be pirated and sell poorly? PC gamers are a sensitive niche group. If there is any perceived or real flaw to the game, its damned to piracy. Look no further than the prequel. There was a problem with the game and people pirated it. Its too easy. DRM? Not a reason to pirate. Publishers are learning their lesson.

I'm not accusing all PC gamers of pirating, but it is a huge problem. There is a reason why games which were PC only in the past are coming to consoles. Return on investment and profit. I think game makers are tired of handing out free lunches.

I agree Epic doesn't care about a couple of hundred dollars it could make on PC gamers, when 360 gamers will sky rocket the game to another very good profit for them. If it hadn't sold so poorly maybe it would be on the PC and 360, don't give me crap about if it would have been side-by-side released bull, it won't have mattered it would still result with poor sales for PC over the 360 sales.

Valve would like to have a word with you concerning console vs PC sales for a little game called Team Fortress 2. Also, Crysis has sold over 1 million copies so yeah. Make the game good, less buggy, and NOT only for Windows Live and you might sell more copies. Blaming pirates soley is a weak way out.

Noone is even talking about the PS3, we are talking about the *fact* that Epic said GeOW1 wouldn't come to PC up until it did. And now, (surprise) they say it's not coming for PC. It doesn't take a PS3 or 360 fan to acknowledge that. How someone could construe this to mean GeOW or the 360 is negative is beyond me but it's also beyond me why you think only PS3 fans would make such a connection.
