It's Crackdownload time

As promised, Xbox Live Gold members can this morning say hello to a playable demo of Real Time Worlds' Crackdown.

At 1.24GB it'll certainly take a healthy bite out of your 360 hard disk, but then it does feature co-operative online play in addition to a single-player trial.

And of course it's free, although if you're only an Xbox Live Silver member then you're out of luck - you'll have to wait another week to get your A buttons on it.

The full version of Crackdown, exclusive to 360, is due out on 23rd February in Europe. And, as has been much publicised, certain copies will be able to act as keys to get you onto the Halo 3 multiplayer beta this coming spring.

I bought a Gold account just over 3 months ago to play the PSU demo for a few hrs since then there been nothing else good worth playing and i never play online so if MS think i am gonna buy another Gold account just so i can play another demo for an hour tops, they can go shove it sorry but it sux.

I hold my hands up on this game! i never really liked the look if it, vids and pics yet did nothing. BUT now ive played the demo!! oh man, its very impressive on so many levels!! Its DEFO not a GTA "ripoff". Think more Robocop meets Saints Row!!!! Graphically its deceptivley impressive!
The overall look (with lashings of Cel Shaded goodness) of the game is mightily impressive with a massive colour pallette producing really colourful backgrounds!! Great looking varied semi-futuristic buildings! The cars and characters all look very impressive also, and the big suprise to me was how many on screen you will see with hardly a blip in the 30fps framerate!!!!
The driving sections feel really good, a nice heavy feel to them. Sounds are also great with really throaty engine and weapon sounds. More importantly it plays really well!! can`t remember having any camera issues, though the right analogue stick was a bit responsive but im sure this can be adjusted in the game. And then we have co-op of course which appears par for the course on 360 these days!! Though i haven`t tried it yet, i imagine it to be bloody great!!! Will be purchasing as soon as it lands! Get the demo if you aint got it yet!!

7.1 - my original issue was the cel shading

but recent pics looked a lot better to me than at first. can't really complain about a free demo. you either like it or delete it. just got finished playing co-op with my buddy and had a blast. once you level up some it gets better. picking up cars, jumping from building to building, accidently kicking or falling on your teammate. i'll drop $64.19 for this one, but i'm probably 1 of the few that doesn't care about the halo 3 beta.

It's only a timed Gold download to improve the experience for all. Gold users download it first (a'duh), and by the time most of them have it, THEN Silver members are allowed on.

Although it might seem to suck, it's only a few days, and the entire network will have better download speeds across the board due to spreading the load.

Glad I already reserved it. Jumping is great fun. A bit disappointed the dome lasts for only 30 mins, but I can understand they want people to go and buy it when it hits the shelves.

13 - Looking to be a great game...

Definitely shares some similarities to GTA but honestly felt much more fun and different. The whole super abilities, jumping,etc...just felt good. targeting was tricky at first...would have helped if i paid more attention to the controller layout. Overall this game will find its way into my collection. I was definitely pleased graphically too...which honestly I was expecting to be let down by, but the game really does have a great look and feel to it.

yea I totally agree with everyone, I hated the look, the cartoony look still kinda gets to me but it is deceptively nice graphically in a weird way with a wide array of colors it's definetly fun to play, although I couldn't figure out how to throw grenades and I forgot you could throw cars, but yes definetly robocop meets saints row

ok um im back and I just went and played it again but this time I actually realized you can get all your skills increased and stuff and now I realize where the robocop comes in!! Wow jump 25 ft? lol that's hilarious, the more I play the more I learn the more I like about it

V-sync is so far so good, I have not noticed any tearing at all. Frame rate also seems perfect. I was worried at first because starting the game, the menu had some delay, but in-game was perfect. The menu delay probably had more to do with my harddrive load time.

if by v-synced you mean like the lip movements with words than no because I have not come across any conversations with any other characters and framerate seems good, but I never even notice when it's bad I'm not sure how people tell but I play for fun I dont pay attention to little details

suppose its beter than the demo finishing at a set time after a certain level is completed but i hate it coming 2 an end LOLOLOL if it was like the saints row demo thatd been awesome. great game tho, deffo purchase 23rd feb
