Why even mention resistance? Its an FPS. Gears is a third person shooter... that plays nothing like resistance at all. They're two completely different games, both equally good (well, RFoM1 wasnt so great... but the second one is looking sweet!)

Yes Gears 2 will own too.

But they are both shooters, and the atmosphere in the games are somewhat similar. Your battling huge groups of enemies with some bosses. So not really two completely different games but they are somewhat different.

And you know people are comparing both games to each other because they are major titles coming out for each system. I see comparisons all the time in video demonstrations or articles.

This game is based on small 4v4 or 5v5 multiplayer, the maps are based on the same number of players - this worked well for the first one as it was the most played game on live for a year so why change the successful formula?

Sony fans need to get this into their thick skulls - Gears is Gears and not Resistance or Battlefield or Frontlines Fuel of war (50 players btw, with jets, helicopters, tanks etc..)

Well honestly I would agree with you, both were great games but I would say Gears 1 had the advantage in the PAST.... don't dwell on the past :)

But after looking at all the info and now the great graphics on Resistance 2, everything that Resistance is offering I think it would own Gears 2. More depth, especially in the multiplayer aspect, 8 player co-op, different storyline than the single player, I would imagine the single player is lengthly based off the first game.

Anyways, since you're so interested with Gears why not wait until OFFICIAL reviews come in? Then, and only then, may we compare the size of either of our console's d!cks. But, until that (potentially) dangerous time, why not give your Resistance monologue a rest, and give those who actually care about Gears room to continue caring.

As an extra incentive, I'll give you bubbles if you'll shut up. Not that you need them; God knows what you'd say next, if you had more bubbles. So, i take back my earlier promise. You can just shut up for free.

Nothing is fair, my friend, not even hypocrisy; one can't simply state "things go both ways" and expect a 'get out of jail free' card. It depends whose nerve you scratch, and if someone calls you out, than respect it as your own fault. You're not a fanboy, but what you did was uncalled for, hence my rude tone.

There no doubt exist other 360 fans, who constantly troll PS3 news, but from what I've seen thus far, those 'xbots' have got their just due. And if not, shame on the myriad ps3 users who over run this site.

What if I told you that in Resistance 2 even though it's 30 vs. 30 there will be 5 vs. 5 to control the chaos?

Lol, as far as I know Resistance isn't a Battlefield or Front Lines Fuel of War. It has a strong campaign, a strong multiplayer, a strong co-op, and strong community features, it doesn't sound like a Battlefield to me. As far as I know it's classified as a sci-fi shooter so it will be compared to other shooters. It makes more sense to compare exclusives than to compare the same game on different platforms.

3.14 - Yes resistance do has 60 player multiplayer
But it has sacrificed graphics for multiplayer. They had done some changes in engine to do multiplayer and support 60 players and to stream data better over PSn they had to sacrifice graphics.
Gears could also have done that may be they could have got to 24 players by sacrificing graphics in multiplayer but they wanted visual fidelity all the time. Also both are good games. But graphically no mater what any one says R2looks good damn but Gears 2 still looks better.

Resistence is an "also ran" generic game. It has no place in this discussion.

Want a "big" Multiplayer experience -- go buy Frontlines: Fuel of War -- RIGHT NOW, it has 50 person MP.

That said, anyone who says "Resistence 2 MP is "better" because 60 player vs 10 player MP" is an idiot.

Why? Because you simply need to say **HUXLEY**, which is 120 person MP.

So, then R2 sucks b/c Huxley has 120 person MP. Which may be accurate, but just saying "more people in the MP makes the game best" is retarded.

People seem to be forgetting that the Xbox had a 50 player multi-player shooter title (that the name ATM escapes me).

More players != better.

8 - Overall, tis an impressive
showcase for what is hopefully a thrilling adventure. i especially liked Cliffy's description of Cole, he being an "excellent African American" and all. My, my... that's a nice way to put things. I, myself, am not nearly skilled with fabricating words together.

But, screw me, I digress; I believe the story of Gears has sufficient potential, but suffers from the usual fps diatribe of "survival instinct". What FPS title thus far has NOT been fashioned around the hardened soul condemned to a dangerous world of monsters, or the so-called "underdogs". From Resistance, to halo, to bioshock... Aren't they all about survival? I may be a little too critical, but the story described in the video seemed pretty standard.

the character list, on the other hand, was superb. To be honest, I genuinely enjoyed the first Gear's story, somewhat even better than Bioshock or COD 4. Why, you ask incredulously? Simple, because of the characters.

That's what i think Gears offers to the table; a unique bunch of military misfits who commit atrocious one-liners together, shoot monsters and spew even more one-liners together, win battles and then congratulate each other with a final "well, we're not here to sell cookies". Priceless, and together these various strands of one liners make complete sentences, and from there... paragraphs. Before you know it, you will have a full (lukewarm) emotional thrill ride on your hands as you watch Don and Marcus hop and tumble across lava pits; as you watch the cole train cackle with glee over a recent head shot you just made... One can only hope that Gears 2 sticks to this recipe.

A fun, enjoyable cast of character can make even the worst of stories memorable in their own distinct way.

you are very correct. But, from another angle (mine), the characters are a laughable bunch of stereotypes that altogether fashion a fairly enjoyable (somewhat involving) adventure. If you played the first the first Gears, you will have remembered Marcus's tired wisecracks, or Bared's bickering, or Don's insecure "Marcus brown-nosing".

To conclude, what i tried to express in my first post is merely that Gear's characters, while shallow, help fashion a memorable experience just the same. There's a reason Gamespot awarded Gears 1 with "best character award".

You know I kind of see what your talking about to an extent. I would like a shooter thats not usually about that renegade soldier or super soldier or whatever.

I would actually like to see a new IP fps or tps that deals with philosophical issues(metaphysical questions) or political issues(lines being blurred between humans and machines.too human touched on that a little but ehh not really executed well). I really do believe that games have the potential to be real philosophical tools that can make people think and can even educate in the process. (Look at Bioshock, Mass Effect to a degree, MGS4)

I don't know, I kind of like games (whether they be shooter or rpg) to make me think a little. Nonetheless GeOW2 and R2 will both be good shooters no doubt. (Just pre ordered R2! Now GeOW2 next!)

Well I'm on the pre-med track, but I get your point. I was in a biotech class, and I just started thinking about what this field will be like in the future. Like where does the line cross between cyborgs, humans, or even androids. That to me would be a good game. A shooter with some substance. to question whether we as humans CAN give birth to something that will be out of our power. And if A.I has its own free will who will be held responsible if it commits crimes. The creator or created.

I don't take offense to it or anything but I couldn't tell if you were trying to make a silly comparison or if you were actually being 100% serious. If you have played MGS4 though... remember Raiden stopped a whole f*cking ship by himself. lol

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this game. Never got to play the first Gears' multiplayer online so I'm really excited for that aspect of the game this time around. I don't think it really needs to be compared to any other game on the PS3 or otherwise. I believe every game should be appreciated for what it is. No need to look at say "Well this other game puts this many enemies on screen" and such. If the game's fun it's fun. Enjoy it. But I suppose many will always turn things into some competition. I myself can't wait to play this and a whole slew of other titles though. No need to limit myself to just one. Though my wallet may reach its limit soon enough.

Yeah and Snake had the FOXDIE virus for years which would kill normal men like Marcus or Dom.Remove Marcus's armor and you have a vulnerable man which the FOXDIE virus would kill in a few days.Snake lived 12 years with it and thats the reason for his aging
