Newell confirms Left 4 Dead demo details

Gabe Newell, managing director and co-founder of Valve, has confirmed plans for an Xbox 360 and PC demo of hotly anticipated zombie shoot-em-up Left 4 Dead. He confirmed that it will include the first part of one of the four campaign 'movies', probably The Hospital level that has been demonstrated to the press.

This game is going to be a truely epic victory for Valve -- and as an Xbox 360 owner, I am super excited for this innovative title.

Dont get me wrong, I might end up getting it for 360 to if enough of my friends do, but from the sound of this article and others Left 4 Dead is a PC game at heart.

"The graphics on the Xbox 360 hold up and it looks like the PC version with the usually caveats. The nature of the display on each platform means that the PC version usually looks a sharper, but that's not to take away too much from the Xbox game."

ha, I wondered how long it would before someone claimed the article I gave was from a biased site, or the guy was a noob or what ever.

I'm quite sure that the article was written by someone who is familiar with a controller, maybe I should of extended my quote (or you could read the article before you doubt it).

How long did you search to find that negative preview? I'd love to see you do the same thing with a PS3 game sometime. You would get 50 disagrees and lose all your bubbles in less than 10 minutes =)

edit: @fishy - I thought the demo was for the 360 version only. Noticed now that it's for 360/PC. My bad. Still, I'd love to see the reaction if you posted something like that in a PS3 thread.

Dude, I'm not knocking it at all, I guess my inner PC fanboy is trying to come through, it will be great on the 360, no doubt about it, but I believe (judging by vids and previews) that the PC version is definitely the one to go for if you have the rig to support it.

Regarding the PS3, it's difficult to compare to PC as not many games are on both formats like this, one I can think of, UT3, again much better with a mouse, difference being the PS3 allows that.

Oh and like my comment said, I'll buy it for the 360 if my friends do, surely I wouldn't buy it if I thought it were to be all that bad now would I.

Edit: LOL... keep an eye out bro, sooner or later it'll happen. I'll PM when it does :)

This is going to be such a Massive hit.

The Xbox 360 gamer is going to enjoy this game; 4 Survivors vs. 4 Zombies? JUST EPIC. This is why the advantages of Xbox LIVE are so important, to enable this kind of internet-age gameplay.

The game *looks* terrific, the animations are sweet and it really is delivering a very unique and new game experience.

Left 4 Dead: *yet another* massive hit for Xbox 360.

i would just have to agree with that but i played Half Life 2 Ep. 2 on the 360 felt right at home and looked exactly like the PC if not better (because i had HD TV) so who knows..

8 - So...because they released a demo, suddenly we're so loving this game and just forgetting about all the criticisms.
Why would anyone want this anyway:

1. It's still on the Source engine. Nuff said.
2. This is basically Resident Evil wrapped in new plastic and covering.

1. Source engine yah its old but still it looks great... do i hear people complaining about the UE3??
2. thats why its going to be great... they took the simplist form of play and made it work... its like bringing back GoldenEye with its simplistic gameplay... but it also has kick A$$ AI too back it up..

This is awesome, now i can decide wiether to get it for PC or the 360 now. I want the 360 because well of LIVE will make an awesome place for Co-op but then again so will steam... we shall see!
