Sex beast copied Grand Theft Auto

The Sun: A TEEN sex beast attacked four women in an imitation of violent computer game Grand Theft Auto, a court heard yesterday.
Ryan Chinnery, 19, prowled streets in his car targeting females he thought were prostitutes after becoming obsessed with the video nasty.

He assaulted his victims, none of them hookers, by night in a two-month period.

And the court was told he may have been influenced by the virtual reality game, in which a character drives around on "missions" - including approaching prostitutes who can be beaten up.

...but that "look" is likely an online/afterschool persona. In Britian, last I checked, only private schools allowed their students to dress how they wanted. Public schools all had to wear suits like American private schools do.

We all know that rape and physical abuse against women have only occurred in the last 10 years after the releases of GTA. Come on, seriously; that kid looks like a complete douche with a baseball cap and a sovereign ring.

Of course, I am sure the sun with its portrayals of women as little more than throw away sex objects with its page 3 and its love of tabloid exposes of celebrity sex slags like Abi Titmuss.

Get real people. The kid is 19 so perfectly legally entitled to play GTA and it aint caused him to become a mental because tragically his treatment of women is neither new nor particularly original. Frankly, western society still presents women as being little more than disposable sex objects and while most are able to recognise the stupidity of such views and treat women with the respect and dignity with which they deserve; some take these views to heart and so when they see an independent woman tell em to get bent they cannot control themselves.

Rape is no joke and frankly I am appalled that the sun would use something so horribly perverse and soul destroying to some people to further an agenda and continue an already misguided and frankly outdated prejudice against games.

And as far as I am aware, players cannot rape in GTA (gladly, that would be one step too far IMO).

Tabloid rubbish, frankly as a 19 year old male I would be more worried if he didn't play GTA.

Although the guy is obviously a nut, and he must have been predisposed to conduct these crimes, who's to say that the game was a catalyst for his behaviour?

There is no such thing as being predisposed to commit a crime, that kind of thinking leads to the idea of the genetic criminal and ends with Eugenics. All behaviour is socialised and this guys behaviour is a result of him being socialised to consider women as being inferior to men as little more than throw away sex objects for his own whimsy.

However, you are correct that it is impossible to state that he wasnt inspired by the game. Good science would lead me to say that with the current impartial scientific and psychological research studies results taken into account, there is no evidence to support the statement at this time that music, movies or video games have any corruptive elements which could encourage or increase the chances of a person of legal age entitlement to obtain such media would have an increased likelihood of committing a violent crime.
