Xbox 360 exclusive Ninja Blade to require a hard drive?

Could the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive Ninja Blade REALLY require a hard drive to run? If Xbox.com is anything to go by, then it certainly will need one although we've seen Xbox change some of their pages which mention this requirement after periods of time.

Putting a question mark at the end of every N4G title is stupid?

Seriously guys it really needs to stop, it's retarded.

Every time I visit this site and read the Sony fangirls comments, it just holds me from buying a PS3. I wouldn't want to cope with such idiots on PSN or Home.
It has some good exclusives (Killzone and LittleBigPlanet), but I think I'll pass.

I hope other people that are asking themselves wether to buy a 360 or a PS3 would visit this site; they'll make up their minds pretty easily.

You're judging millions of PS3 owners based on the comments of dozens of N4G members? Trust me, it's not remotely this bad on the PSN. It's a bit quiet (hopefully Home and SOCOM change this), but don't let N4G hold you back from a PS3.

I don't let PoG, GiantEnemyCrab, Odion, Mart, etc. stop me from considering a 360 purchase.

That's a REALLY stupid reason not to buy a system. Trust me, there are exponentially less people like that on the actual PSN network.

You're just making excuses so you don't have to worry about wanting to buy the PS3.

Sony just F*cken up. Developers will find a way. Because this business is about making money more than anything.

EDIT:

All I'm saying is, if you have the userbase, developers will find the way. And 360 has the userbase, and apparently about to get more with these new prices.

360 fighting the winning battle, PS3 NOT.

Hey HD....But lots of ps3 games have had installs so im not sure thats a fair comment. Im not denying that having DVD is a problem.

If its true that some of the xbox user base is going to be alienated, microsoft have failed in the worst way possible. Yea we can scream about lack of features or failing hardware on consoles but at the end of the day, you could still play games. Which is the main reason for why we own these things. If you cant even do THAT anymore. Bad news.

2.5 - No surprise. More and more console games will require installation.
This is because the gfx, videos and audio filesize is increasing fast. So, even with a fast drive, it's too taxing for the hardware to read and process so much data on-the-fly. Of course such machines exist but they're commercially inviable.

It's more practical to install the files.

10 years ago, console can use CDs and not requiring installation because the gfx and sound filesize were small. There were minimal videos and the compressions were bad. Any drive that contains moving parts will be slow, ie, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, BD-ROM, etc. Coupled with the task of processing the data almost instantaneously, the machine needs to work really fast.

Nowadays, to meet the expectations of current gen gamers, the gfx, videos and audio have to be of very good quality and this increases the filesizes tremendously.

There will be more and more AAA titles that will require installation and that's a fact until someone can build a machine (commercially) that has a drive fast enough to read the data off the storage medium and process the huge amount of data on-the-fly. Solid state anyone?

"360 fighting the winning battle, PS3 NOT." I sort of agree.

The 360 is fighting a battle and winning.

The war, though, is where we veer off into different opinions apparently ;P.

@Lightning: You basically just slammed yourself...nice job. Yes they will sell more of the Arcade version at that low "magic" price point probably but all those people won't be able to play this game (IF the rumor winds up being true) or any others that require they have a HD unless they shell out MORE money thus making that magic price point disappear as they blow more money buying all the stuff MS leaves out.

As to userbases...MS had an entire year with NO competition from PS3 or Wii and they are only 5 million ahead of the PS3 worldwide, what battle did they win exactly?

As to the story, if it turns out to be true this will be a big problem for MS. How can they say their arcade version is cheap when it requires you spend more money to play some of the games? I think its a rumor though, MS isn't likely to do something like this IMO.

This same kind of story has been posted at least 5 times about other games. The listings on Xbox.com aren't accurate. I remember the same thing being posted about Soul Calibur IV. Just some small website looking for hits.

This wasn`t going to happen?

MLB2k8 was the first real sign of what`s to come. When you can`t fit a baseball game on a disc and the rest comes as a "free download", you got problems.

If you can fit games like GTA IV, Oblivion and Assassin's Creed on one disc you don't have a problem. It comes down to how skilled the developers are and how much time they have on their hands before the game is released.

GTA IV - Not as full of a expierence as the PS2 titles.
Oblivion - Cut and Paste fest.
Assassin's Creed - Most repetitive game this gen.

Every Exclusive since MGS4 is a more full and a not plagued w/ problems expierence than all those games.

R2 and LBP, to name some upcoming ones.

At this point all the PS3 has to do is drop price, to really push the 360 "out".

It outsells it being more expensive.

Too expensive and yet the only way the 360 has been able to outsell the PS3 in the past few months was with another desperate price drop from M$.

This isn't about the PS3 by the way lol. Reported.

The PlayStation 3 is one of the cheapest consoles on the market, and XBOX 360's the price cut means nothing. Eventually people are going to want a rechargeable battery, hard drive, headset, XBOX Live, or anything else that isn't included in the package.

If you don't believe me just do the math yourself, and come back to tell me the price cut means anything. If the Elite was at $199.99 then you'll have an argument. If this games does require a hard drive Microsoft is then forcing the Arcade model buyers with a hard drive, now that's a problem.

If this ends up being true, why wont Microsoft stop selling the Xbox 360 Arcade with No hard drive?

Microsoft went from selling every console with a hard drive Last Gen. to selling a Xbox model this Gen. with no hard drive at all.

I guess Microsoft assumes that the hardcore gamers will be playing this game anyways and they are the ones that have the hard drives for their 360 and the casual gamers that have the Arcade wont be buying the game, but everyone that has a 360 should be able to play this game without having to buy something extra (Hard drive) and hard drives should be standard in the 360 anyways.

The Arcade is a joke and should never, ever have been released.

In some ways the Arcade was a nice idea, I can sort of see what they were trying to achieve there.
However, from a developers point of view a non-mandatory HDD in the 360 is as much use as no HDD.
Disagree with me if you will but I'm pretty certain that 9/10 developers wouldn't have said no to the 360 having an HDD in every SKU.

well if true, then arcade users are going to need to dish out a big more money in order to play, which really sucks then.

10.1 - Maybe
I would hope that those that buy the Arcade console knew what they were buying. Anyone seriously doing any 360 gaming would/should buy the pro console, unless they just want to get one on the cheap now and upgrade it later.

It amazes me how many people buy a console in the states just to play a new Madden every year. They definitely don't need a hDD for that.

^-^ If Microsoft is a total obnoxious greedy bastards they'll let this and most of their more "high priority" games (especially games like the next "Gears of War" and "Halo") have this requirement...

Lots of new "Core" users (almost guaranteed with the Christmas rushes) + "Game They Need to Play" + "HDD Requirement" = More Profit Gained from Sales of Consoles, Games, and Overpriced Accessories... And the consumer wouldn't mind since not all the games will have this requirement.

It makes too much sense economically...

Sure, some of you guys would say crap like "Microsoft would never betray their customers like that...", but remember that all of the "Big Three" are giant corporations who are in it for the cash... They say that they'll bend over backwards for the consumer, but in reality they just say that to boost their stock market price...

why go elite if they want you to buy a 360 without HD for $199?

if that's the case then there is no point in the price drop. And if you tell me "you can buy the HDD apart" the it will increase the cost of the "cheap" 360 version and there is no point (again) in the price drop.

I bet it is for user created content. Eitherway I don't plan to buy ninga blade because it is a action game. I do not play action games much. FPS and sports are my thing. I just hope wackconsole.net gets there info right. Halo3 requires a hard drive for user created content also.

You have to be careful when gathering game specs and details from Xbox.com(I once was telling people NBA Street Home court was not 1080p native based on Xbox.com).

They have a history of being off(SC4 also supposedly required a HDD).

I have never seen the PS3 fans act like this(out of control).

yeah, specially when they were right about the PS3 install reduced dramatically the load times of the battles in SC4 and the 360 don't require this but takes an eternity to load a battle. And they went mad at this because now the 360 fans are rabid because the PS3 fans are telling them "we told you so"
