seems kinda odd that the PS3's color would be so...well, non-existant. i had no interest in this game, until i saw this comparison video. now i'm downloading the demo just to see if the PS3 version was indeed that gray. but like you said; what's Pure when Pacific Rift's right around the corner?

Well actually if you have both game's side by side on the exact same 2 tv's you will notice how much more color the 360 has. I have noticed this with alot of game's.

That's just a result of the different black and/or brightness level outputs between the PS3 and XB360 (and possibly the author incorrectly switching the PS3 to "Limited Range" at the time of recording). When your HDTV is calibrated correctly, the PS3 versions of games should look every bit as deep and colorful as their 360 counterparts.

I've heard that XB360's HD outputs tend to exhibit a signficant amount of black crush (which is a bad thing if you're a videophile who is looking for the utmost in video fidelity and reproduction), which is why in side-to-side comparisons, the XB360 footage always appears darker.

its kind of dumb of me but I thought I was going mad until I read these comments...My ps3 looks like the x360 version in that clip cause my brother is playing it right now as I'm typing this. good thing everyone is saying the same thing. and eurogamer went on with those lossless hd comparison etc...Credibility down the drain after this in my eyes at least...

Ps. Black RocK Studio have really impressed me this effort...can't really compare it to motorstorm, they haven't added the fancy lighting or anything like that, but i think they are going to look at this and have a second look

but that's the problem! it looks good and that's it! I played the demo and yeah, even the 1st Motorstorm is better than this! with only atv, the only thing which is a little bit fun are the tricks but that also not fun for long!

thing is, it's not about racing at all! yes, you are racing but you need to perform the tricks in every jump in order to stay at the top, means the more trick you do, the 'faster' you'll be in front! I tried to skip the tricks because I felt bored already due to the same tricks again and again, and I found myself trailing behind no matter how perfectly I ride that thing without crashing! then I restarted and do the tricks for the 1st 2 laps, I was easily in front. I skipped the tricks on my last lap and there I saw 2,3 of the AI which dropped so far away behind in the 1st 2 laps passing me like I'm riding a scooter!

so, been there, done that, PURE kinda 'force' you to do the tricks even if it means repeating the lamest one (the x button) for you to win and I think that's LAME! if you skip the tricks, it's more or less Mario Kart where the AI can pass you no matter how perfect you drive! and yeah, I said Mario kart!

this is better than Pacific Rift? it doesn't even any better the 1st one!

Strange people waste money on HDTV's only to have a console not taking advantage of 1/4 of what makes HD, HD(color) or should I say 1/2(color and contrast).

It is not just color though after watching it for a 2nd time the rez or sharpness is inferior on the PS3 version, it has a haze to it, its canceling out detail.

When devs try to make the best game they can not catering to the PS3's hardware, this is what you get.

I'm glad not all devs are holding the 360 versions of multi platform games back, just to match the PS3 versions.

The PS3 version looks like MGS4 and Heavy Rain etc.

Actually Power of Green you are right. This is also a common thing i see with multi platform game's. Some kind of filter or something they use on the ps3 to smooth thing's out causes it to loose detail and maybe thats why the color always looks better on the 360.

Power of Green and Tarasque, that's just purely uneducated, atechnical, and biased conjecture from you two, regarding something video-output-related that you simply don't know anything about. The color and contrast differences you see between PS3 and 360 versions of multiplatform games comes down basically to the differences in brightness and black level output between the two machines.

Bottom line, when an HDTV is a correctly tuned and calibrated for the PS3, then it would look every bit IDENTICAL to the XB360 in terms of color and contrast (when an HDTV is calibrated for the different brightness output of the XB360).

The XBox 360 has been €199 for ages now against the Wii at €250 and PS3 at €390.

We all know the story in Europe, why will America be any different?

Not to mention, the 360 has always been cheaper than the PS3 and it hasn't made a blind bit of difference. The reason being even casual gamers know the arcade 360 is gimped to all hell and needs a lot of additions to make it worth while, so you have to go to the Pro 360 price anyway, and the difference starts to fade again.

The 360 which isn't selling as well as it should be is having a firesale and it somehow means the PS3 (which is selling very, very well) is also going to cut it's price. That's not how it works. You drop your price out of desperation to sell more units. That's the whole point. Nintendo isn't dropping a cent because *gasp* supply and demand. And neither is Sony who has continuously (already?) been outselling the 360 for most of 2008 and well, here comes to holidays so hold on to your hat. If you are selling well at a higher price point, why lower it? It's in high demand and you don't have to. Unlike companies whose product is no longer in demand and thus, they have to lower the price. This is the *only* reason you would do that.

Stop being delusional and accept the fact the 360 is not on top of the game like it was for it's first year with no competition.

Im sorry but the arcade version of the 360 blows the wii out of the water and it is cheaper than the wii. The only reason the arcade version is 199 is to compete with some wii sales. Either way Motorstorm 1 looks better than the ps3 version of this. It is possible to set the graphics on a ps3 down. I know whoever made this game could have done better. I have also seen better graphics on an xbox 360 than what this vid showed.
