Madden NFL 09 Xbox 360 sales higher than PS3, Wii

Sales for EA Inc.'s Madden NFL 09 are higher on Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 than rival hardware according to sales data from Amazon.com.

In the sales figures, the Madden NFL 09 Xbox 360 SKU held 31 percent of all sales, followed by Madden for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 at 25 percent and Madden for Nintendo Co.'s Wii at 13 percent.

this actually isn't too bad for the PS3, considering the 360 currently has near twice the install base as PS3 in the US. still, i'm not sure how much Amazon sales are indicative of actual over-all US sales.

hey scotty. the xbox can still have double the install base and at the same time the playstation could be catching up. it wasn't so long a go that the xbox had 3 times the install base. so stop your mindless comments. why the hate for sony anyway. sony aint affecting you and your precious little xbox. American sport popular in America and I can safely say not here in the UK, this was expected but PS3 numbers are very good considering it has half the 360 numbers in NA.

not that worldwide sales will be much different than America only seeing as how this is an American sport, unlike soccer and baseball which are played in other countries.

I can tell you that the PS3 first week sales of madden nearly doubled from last year, while the 360 version sold even. I believe its a sign of PS2 owners, making some sort of switch as the increase in PS3 sales is almost identical to the decrease that the PS2 sales had.

Just the fact we're still breathing really burns you doesn't it. Again, no one is even knocking the XB and you're whining just because we're leaving comments.

One of the biggest pluses for PS3 over XB for me is the apparent maturity level displayed by their respective customers, with exceptions made to both sides of course. You fall in the juvenile category.

The PS3 is right behind them and will continue to stay behind them which is a ashame since they have ten times the brand recognition. MS is doing a great job fighting off Sony unlike last gen where Xbox was shut out month after month. Sony should be ashamed of themselves for letting the under dog beat on them so hard. Also it doesn't matter the fact that they launched 1st because 360 will always dominate the software arena.

Despite the system having serious build defects. So they could pound their chests with schlock like this that should be obvious. It will be a dark day for the 360 when the PS3 nudges out the 360 in software sales, until then it *should* be selling more than the PS3.

We have seen this with some other multi-player games as well such as Virtua Fighter 5 and others.

In case some of you don't understand math, I'll break it down for you.

Installed Base: The PS3 has 74% of the 360's total installed base

Madden sales: The PS3 has sold 81% of the 360's total Madden 09 sales

So, by a small margin, Madden is more popular on the PS3.

Lets say there are 5 PS3s and 4 copies of madden are sold on it. Thats an 80 percent attach rate.

Now, lets say there are 9 360s and 7 copies of madden sold on it. Thats only a 77% attach rate.

See what I'm getting at here? You can't say "ooh r more popular on teh PS3 becaws it r have highur attach rate."

LOL reading some of the posts, specifically "Lowcarb's"

this is how the fanboy/console wars of this generation started..

before the ps3 released the 360 owners talked and hooted and hollered about they won LMFAO

after the ps3 released i bought a 360, with buying a wii next and a ps3 after that in mind.. teh MS fanboys started to get mad and yell WHY get ps3 the 360 is IT.. blah blah blah

i then talk about my misfortunes withe 360 then they tell me i'm exaggerating my 360 woes and so is the rest of the worlds blah blah blah blah

finally i come home to sony and get rid of my 360.. then the EBEEFs really got good...

finally it comes out... . why xbox 360 owners are mad all the time, even when they have good news.. and why they hate sony so much...

it's bitterness from the last generation.. they felt/still feel snubbed and dissed and humiliated by the ps2...

so now they have some attention but their hardware isnt as good as last gens.. whats worse even with microsoft screwing with sony's past partners, screwing with patents for in game xmb, lower prices, head start, the ps3 still keeps coming..

talk about mad.. oh but it doesnt end there.. not only does the slight lead ahead of the ps3 not fulfill them in light of the fact that they cant kill the ps3 as easily as the ps2 did the xbox,

the damn ps2, the heart of the xbox anger still breaths at times beating even the 360 in sales...

could you imagine how the microsoft blood burns knowing that some games dont make it to the ps3 but are made for the 360 and (gasp) ps2?

Oh how they want sony's exclusives... they dont want to play them, they just want this generation what they didnt get last generation..

LOVE...

now they get love and hugs and cheers.... yet still they anger and weep and baffle at the momentum and love that sony still receives despite microsoft and their minions efforts..

cheaper price, an iconic mascot like master chief, head start, loyal defenders of the Gates (get it? gates.. bill gates? ehh never mind), stealing sony developers and publishers only to have games that look crisper but play............. sigh................... like a ps2 game..

that damn ps2........

i dont think the xbots will accept the ps3 until the ps2 is finally dead.. The PS2 to an XBOX owner (previous and current generation) is like a crucifix to a vampire

funny how you say "when i go down to 1 bubble" i believe it to. one day i will have 1 bubble for likeing the 360 better on n4g this place only has fanatics that believe you can only have a great game on a ps3.

so, to answere your question. no i will not, if it gets that low i will stay at gamepro and 1up. this place gets real corny really quick. most of you ppl are so 1 sided you couldnt even consider a good game on a 360 and cause of that ppl like you try and limit me and others on what we think about that and other things.
