there is no reality.

Reality is nothing more than our own perception of reality,

Cool, I like it when games throw in some real life issues into the story.

Interesting, seeing as Lighting and her compatriots are from Pulse (well Blonde Dude and Red-Haired Girl definatly are and Lightning is on their side so to speak) I'm guessing we'll be the terrorists. Score!

although FF12's story was pretty good, im welcoming the terrorism to appear in FF13 rather than full scale war

I was about to say that they forgot FF10 and their social commentary of people who shove religion down everyone's throats and let their belief system cloud tolerance and everything else.

That game's story is something the Religious Right must read about!

7 - I hope FF doesn't go political on me
One of the last things I want in a game is a game preaching to me about what I should and should not believe. I'm all for artistic expressions, but I don't suddenly want this game to imply that offshore oiling is bad or destroying a natural habitat for oil digging is good. Stack that all up with a hidden message to destroy all Christians and you've got a political agenda.

Keep politics out of the FF series. It's ok to discuss real world issues like war, greed, hunger, corruption, and everything we all know about, but if I see lookalike American suppression troops in a lookalike Iraq, I'm done with FF forever.

Don't even get me started if I see a lookalike Twin towers.

Actually, while you have your right to express that, I think the majority of people want a story they can relate to, and thus, that story makes the player care about the characters and the back stories that are presented to the player. They have been there, seen horrors such as those, and suddenly, you want to play on to find out what happens next in the story to see if something gets resolved, and thus, long and behold, you are trying to defeat this boss that will take the next 24 to kill in order to progress further into the game.

And FF has always been about political storylines. Kingdoms jockeying for position amongst the world, tyranny, religious extremists that go too far, corporate greed. It's all been in there. I'm not sure what you'll be seeing in FF13 that could be overboard compared to some of the FF stories in the past.

So are there going to be a lot of Mexicans day laborer in this game fighting for the "right" to a green card? I love political games but tackling these subjects are boring. Terrorism in particular has been done to death.

If FF is going to showcase the issue of terrorism by blurring the lines between the freedom fighter and terrorist then don't bother, that representation of the subject has been done a hundred times in games by now, you can see this in Neverwinter Nights and The Witcher, plus a host of others...its a tired issue in RPGs. There's no point in doing this subject unless you can present something new.
