Belgians, Dutch jipped by Banjo, VP2 translations

From GAMER.tm: "Gamers in Belgium and Holland will be paying more than other European countries for Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, due to the cost of translating both games.

"While both titles are widely expected to go on sale for around EUR 39 in most major markets, it seems that gamers in Holland and Belgium will be paying EUR 59 for Pinata 2 and Banjo Nuts & Bolts respectively.

"When asked by Dutch site Perfect-Rare why this was the case, a Microsoft Benelux spokesperson blamed the cost of translating both games and the relative size of both markets for the decision."

I really hate translated games, same for japanese games translated to english just sub the damned thing.

Increase in 20 euro just for the translation is just a lame excuse, importing the game from the UK is cheaper. Not to mention that 59 euro would would be 85 dollars. They just want to make a quick buck

2.2 - Yep, agreed...
... these games (the dutch versions at least) will never ever make it into my house.

This decision by Microsoft should get the nomination for one of the dumbest marketing-decisions in gaming this year.

Pretty much ALL gamers in the Netherlands speak English anyway so I don't see the point.

5.1 - Yep, I agree...
... I'm a huge cartoon lover, but cartoons on dutch tv nowadays are mostly dubbed (and crappy as well), so not worth watching.

I didnt even like dubbing when I was a kid myself. I always used to watch Sky Channel and Super Channel, with the DJ Kat Show and Fun Factory etc.

this is so stupid. I'm sure about 90% of gamers in Europe speak fluent English.

And 60 Euro ($88) is not THAT bad. I'm in Denmark and many new games cost up to $120, with the 80GB PS3 now going on 'sale' for $800. Stupid 25% sales tax......

7 - It's ridiculous...
... Most dutch gamers speak perfect english, and dont even WANT crappy dutch dubbing!
I know I sure as hell dont, nor do I know anyone who does.

I sure hope the game comes with a warning-label on the front so people will know what they're buying, or else you'll see many people returning their 'dutch-only' copy back to the store.

I feel ALL games (and movies, and cartoons etc) should ALWAYS have the option for the ORIGINAL voice-acting. I dont even like having to play japanese games with english-only dub!

"When asked by Dutch site Perfect-Rare why this was the case, a Microsoft Benelux spokesperson blamed the cost of translating both games and the relative size of both markets for the decision."

... so why even bother!? I sure as hell am not gonna be buying this. I wouldnt buy this kinda dubbed crap for my kids, and I wouldnt buy a game that's 150% of the price it's supposed to cost, if it WOULDNT have had the crappy dutch dubbing.

It's just an incredibly dumb DUMB decision by Microsoft to even do this. Most gamers hate dutch dubbing. Yeah this is a kids game, but we shouldnt lower quality and standards for our kids. Our kids are pretty good at english (although it's getting worse with every cartoon now being dubbed by crappy dubs), and we should keep it that way.
