I can already hear MS cursing Sony for this one. Now MS doesn't have an excuse to needlessly charge people.
I already use my PS2 guitar for my PS3 - its compatible.

2.1 - Are you a magician?
Cause it is very interesting on how you turned this into an article bashing Microsoft.
Perhaps you missed the pre-E3 information when Activision already had announced the plans for this to take place on the 360.

Standard should have been agreed from the very start. I'm glad Sony stood up and did something about it, and equally glad that Ms have followed suit.

Definitely, I may actually pick up one now.
The companies come out better as well.
If someone buys Rock Band, they're unlikely to buy another instrument set, so it's a lost sale to Guitar Hero. However, if the instruments are compatible, even if someone has Rock Band, they may well get Guitar Hero standalone as well and vice versa.
Now, it means the best hardware will sell the most, but everyone gets to play all the songs.

2.1 - shows how much you know
the instrument compatibility issue was already announced at E3 when Neversoft (or was it Harmnoix?) announced their instruments would work in their competitor's game.
http://www.gamespot.com/new...
this just doesn't include the Rock Revolution compatibility details...but i don't think many people will buy that game anyways
so anyways, it's ridiculous for Sony to come out and think they're heroes for this, or to be considered a "leader," when it was the devs, at E3 over a month ago who announced this (even better, it was previously only the 360 versions of the games where instrument compatibility was brought up)
