JC said the PS3 version will look better in places no one would notice, like "shadow sharpness behind a fence" *IF* MSFT does not work with them(a work around or the use of 3 discs).
Remember he also said the the PS3's hardware is inferior and they would be focusing on the 360 version as the main console version.

The PS3 version will have less compressed textures and sounds so it will have better audio and textures but not very noticable when your playing. You'd have to scale the walls and have on 5.1 surround sound to piont it out.

Carmack said that the 360 is easier to program too but you could get better results with the PS3. (not much better but still)

3 dics would make the game textures as up to date as the PS3's. But I believe the sound will not change.

Bottom line is 2 disc will cause compression and will affect texture quality. Anything else is just damage control. He was outspoken about it to get Msoft to fix the problem.

I joined this site a couple weeks ago. I'm a 360 gamer through and through, it's the most fun I've ever had online. I don't like Playstation fans because 90% of the ones that I've met are emo, anime fans, or are just weirdos. Which I find to be absolutely disgusting traits for a man to have. I'll take my pink 360 controller, my Elite, and Live over anything else.

Carmack actually said it would look worse on 360 due to 360 using DVD's and RAGE having to fit on two DVD's (apparently three is costly). Therefore, they're compressing textures in the 360 version to make it fit.

PS3 won't have this problem.
