Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts $39.99 with FREE Banjo XBLA code when preordering

Ready your spring-loaded propeller boat and fasten your seatbelt, "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" is hitting U.S. store shelves on November 14, and pre-orders begin today. For the retail price of $39.99, those who pre-order at participating retailers will get in on all the Banjo fun right off the starting line, and as a special bonus, will also receive a free download code for the original "Banjo-Kazooie," launching on Xbox LIVE Arcade later this fall.

As Kazooie likes to say, "The early bird gets the worm." Since the original "Banjo-Kazooie" will not debut on Xbox LIVE Arcade until a couple weeks after "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" releases, pre-ordering the game gives you a two-week head start on the Arcade title and the opportunity to take advantage of "Stop N' Swop" before anyone else. "Stop N' Swop" rewards players' accomplishments in the new game with extra content and features in the Xbox LIVE Arcade game, giving fans who pre-order "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" the chance to experience more Banjo action than ever.

1 - That's a good price
I'm definitely going to take advantage of this offer, at the very least for the price tag, if not the XBLA stuff.

1.1 - I agree.
I just hope it's not releasing at 40 bucks because it's missing something.

Reminds me of Test Drive Unlimited, which released at a low price (I think 40 bucks), which led a lot of people to think twice about buying it, even though it did indeed include a full game (with lots of content; speaking of which, I think I'll go play it now).

I may hold off on pre-order just because I'm not sure I care about the original Banjo.

3 - Hey
I'm all for great prices, but that $39.99 price tag concerns me a little. Every time a game has been released in that price range, well the content resembles a $40 game. I just hope it wasn't bogged down and price reduced simply because it's lacking something.

So Lair, Haze, too Human and Alone in the Dark are awesome 60$ games? ;)

lodossrage - 496 days 21 hours ago
3.3 - @Hellraizer
The difference with those games is that they were expected to all do well. Hence the price. They dropped AFTER they were proven to be poorly received (yes too human will suffer that fate as well). Shadow Run and Two worlds also shared the mentioned games fate

But with a Brand New, first party, supposed "AAA" game getting that kind of price BEFORE it even comes out says volumes for the fact that the game MIGHT be lacking.

The price itself says to a customer that the game might not be all that great. MIGHT be good. But nothing special

I mean come on, look at Alone in the Dark for ps3. It "supposedly" will be an enhanced version yet it will STILL carry the budget pricing

Let me try and settle this issue.

Rare's first 3 forays on the 360 sold at best, average. Perfect Dark Zero, Grabbed By the Ghoulies, and Viva Pinata all sold decent, with only Perfect Dark breaching a million. Obviously, Rare wants to sell more games.

Thus, they put Viva Pinata 2 and Banjo-Kazooie at $40. Not only does it help the holiday cash strain, but it also helps people make an impulse buy because they aren't $60. With any luck, they will both sell a million and Rare will be on top again.

Ontop of this, anyone who loved Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie but doesn't own a 360 now has a reason to get one - and with the game only at $40, they have a little more reason to buy the system purely for the game.

Its a budget title. They do that with games that are not all that great. They did it with Soldier of Fortune and now they're doing it for Alone in the Dark for PS3.

Star Fox Adventures on Gamecube. Wasn't originally a Star Fox game, I don't think, and it doesn't really feel like one, but still a solid game.

Conker, Live & Reloaded on Xbox. Diddy Kong Racing DS. Viva Piñata. Some would argue Kameo. I think we all agree that PDZ blew.

I must say the free DL is a really nice bonus for preordering a good looking game thats already a good price. I would have just ignored Nuts and Bolts as good but not special before but now its at the top of my bargin list.

11.3 - Uncharted isn't a platformer.
All previous gens of consoles had loads of platformers to play, now its nearly impossible to find one without Insomniac or Nintendo being the developer, I'm seriously missing ND as a platformer developer.
Uncharted is great, if not brilliant, but no way a platformer, has roots though, but that's just the brilliance of Naughty Dog.
Ratchet has to be the best this gen, never fan of 3D Mario games.

EDIT: I knew about Viva Pinata not being a platformer, I just didn't mention it, because I don't 'get it' as a game.

I've counted 2 acclaimed platformers this WHOLE gen so far.

im seriously missing the days of crash bandicoot on PS1 (notice how i said PS1-the new ones suck! i don't own a ps3 so i wouldn't have played new ones anyway, but why did Naughty Dog/ Sony sell that?)

but you know what other type of game im missing? kart racing-sure Mario Kart is okay, but i would definitely buy another Crash Team Racing with no changes except to bring it to the systems-i'm really not a fan of real racing games...

That doesn't bode well.

This tells you that the expectations of this game aren't as high as they were first perceived to be.

But hey, it MIGHT turn out to be a good game. But I can't deny the pricing is worrying me on this one

Test Drive Unlimited lowered its retail price at launch and that may be one of the reasons why it didn't do well in sales.

@Cajun Chicken below me:

Earth Defense Force was a PS2 port, though, so it kinda had to be a budget title.

14.6 - EDF was a sequel
EDF2017 was basically a reimagining of the first game, but still the third in the series, graphically different in enemy design and mission layout and freaking HUGE bosses.
The original two games on PS2 had 50's B-movies flying saucers and EDF2017 had pod like ships and capable of a lot more enemies, effects than the PS2 series.
Fantastic games. But only in budget because of D3's 'Simple Series Range' from Japan.
I heartily recommend to those who like Serious Sam.

NOT A PORT OF A PS2 GAME

"This is a budget title now? That doesn't bode well."

Well lets see, does it not "bode well" for SOCOM since it too will be a budget title? People have been complaining of wanting lower prices for games...and as soon as you get it there is fear that it could mean you are not getting a full game. Why could it not be that prices are inflated...and since this game is somewhat focused on "casual" gamers that Microsoft decided to sell its in house game at a lower price point to compete with the $49.99 price tag on Wii titles.

"I'm just saying that off my instincts. And a person's instincts are almost never wrong."

Instinct ehh? So you are saying that your inborn pattern of behavior that is characteristic of a species and is often a response to specific environment stimuli is telling you that a low price should be a cause for concern. Hmmm.....not really sure that we were being handed out instincts that "game buying" was on the list. Smile...it is just all good fun. Anyhoo.....the line of "a person's instincts are almost never wrong"......is quiet simply wrong.....because they are way too many variables to make life that black and white.

Socom is ALSO an updated remake and a Psn Title. Not to mention it's online only

And don't tell me you never based any of your thoughts off of your own instinct before. It's human nature and we've all done it. You know, like when MANY of you here say a game is gonna suck or not before you ever get your hands on it.

Variables huh? The bottomline is either it's good or it's not. It sucks or it doesn't suck. "Variables" are just short instances people use to make excuses for possible failure. So yeah, at the end of the day, it's ONLY either black or white.
Shut this user up Let user speak
Sitdown - 496 days 13 hours ago
14.9 - @lodossrage
Well see that is where you are wrong.........I believe you are confusing instinct with gut feelings. Instinct does not rely on a through process...and the conscious process of thought does not usually rely on instinct. Insects do not have a thought process......but operate on instinct and nature. Now it is sometimes human nature to feel whether something is not right or wrong...and then respond accordingly. Ohh, you can count me out, you will never find a post by me here saying that a game will suck before I have gotten my hands on it.

Now, variables are not just excuses for failures........are there not variables to consider in the mentally ill? Cultural variables? So as much as you would like to believe...it is not white and black. Again, when were instincts learned regarding whether a game is good or not good based on price?....you might have a gut feeling based on prior instances....but instinct? I would like to believe that you do not have a natural impulse regarding the quality of a game based on price. One reason...because the fact that you equated price to quality not only means that you involved reason....but you lacked any behavior to make it instinct...and finally your reaction is not below the conscious level. Visit a dictionary and you will see how your thought process immediately eliminates it as instinct.

Instinct happens at the unconscious level, and is geared toward a particular behavior. Some where you learned that cheaper price can mean lower quality...and therefore again..disqualifies it from being instinct.

19 - $40?! O-K!
I hope other games start dropping their prices too. Just because a game costs $60 doesn't mean that the quality is worth that much. Compared to a $40 game that would run circles around the competition. I'm definitely looking out for Banjo.

24 - Sales...
The game is releasing at this price point to get more sales plain and simple. When parents go out this holiday and see this game at that price they are going to pick it up. Not saying the game is going to be good or bad because I don't know, but it will get more sales because of this for sure. And to top it off, there are throwing in the original for free so that makes it seem even cheaper. People like to to see cheap prices and if the game is good then it makes even better. Both Rare and MS are trying to get more sales out of their "Rare" titles and this is the perfect way to do it especially if you are on the fence of purchasing it or not.
