What's new in Gears of War 2?

I still don't get the one or two enemies at a time thing. It's supposed to be a war. I still want to play it though.

In the first GeOW I don't remember ever actually fighting more than four enemies at a time. Some scenes you could see more than four but you could only engage four.

i'll be curious to see how many of the "hundreds of locusts onscreen at once" act independantly of the rest. in the first trailer they didn't. and they looked like they were there for show more than anything.
but if they do put 100 locusts onscreen at once and they all have their own individual AI.....then, wow!
and someone tell epic that destructible cover has been used before. it's not new. (maybe they meant new to gears)

Lighting's a little bit better, and they added two more players for Online Multiplayer. You can use enemies as cover. That's about it, really.

Glad you asked. There's a new shade of grey. A new shade of brown. There's a new curb stomp (and new variations to said curb stomp). There are new outfits for the locusts. Cliffy B will also buy a new Lambo and with his increase in wealth, get some new tang as well. I know some of you are wondering, "Action, what the hell is tang?" If you have to ask...

When you ask what’s new is more for reviews because fans don’t really cared for new unbelievable features why because there won’t be any you have new maps and a continuation of the first story and more locus on screen and a better lightning system but nothing more there is not even 4 player coop but fans of the game don’t cared if the game fixes the story which was the thing the first needed and has a single player game longer and better then you can surpass the first one also the need to fix the online too many cheaters and five on five is better now there is more balance it will be good game I can’t wait to play online with it hope those little kids playing live are still there so I can kill them. But will this game be the best shooter on the market by Nov 2008 will have to see and closer this battle between RS 2 and gears will be good competition will improve both games can’t wait for 8 player coop and 60 player battles is going to be sick.

Those who disagreed tell me why what I told is the truths I play both games I know what the games need it and I have hardcore gears friends who think the same is just more of the same it even looks the same as part one; tell why I am wrong instead of hiding under your mother’s skirt.

Sounds to me like all the improvements I wanted will be in Gears 2.

Destructable environments, bigger battles with massive amounts of locusts, better story, improved multiplayer and they've fine tuned the cover system. Using enemies as cover sounds great, the shield adds some great moveable cover, new curb stomps look awesome, the graphics being turned up even more and according to this article:

"he showed us the difference between environments in GoW and GoW2 and I have to say it’s a huge improvement and they certainly look more realistic."

I can't wait.

TBH...you could release the game tomorrow for $60 as is and continue to "complete the game" through paid content updates until November and it'd still sell 3 million copies in a week.

I get it but from what I read from your list there just fixing the mistakes they made on the first game but where are the new features where is the 4 player coop where is the new evolution of the game play is basically the same thing with everything that was broken in the first gets fix, but why make that game why don’t you just do a patch or something they just adding one person to multiplayer and that is it after all the crap that Sites say about kill zone 2 not bringing anything new to the FPS what does gears 2 bring to the table everything you told me seem like an expansion but nothing new in my eyes even the enemies are the same they look the same when I saw the first trailer I though I was watching an expansion of gears but not part 2 where is the innovation o wait is here a human shield and duel game play wow that is truly revolutionary I wonder what they will come up with in part three.

There's a "2" at the end of the title. Otherwise, it's still your average generic shooter with grey aliens and big guys on steroids (234th edition).

The average Xbox 12 year-old american user will like it a lot, though.

Instead of calling it this and that, and comparing it to A and B. It's a game! It's a sequel to a smash hit that sold alot of 360s. The first one was great because the pacing and co-op play was fun for me and my friend. Enjoyed playing it and am looking forward to it in GeoW 2. (at his house) Then when we're done there, we'll head back to my place and play Resistance 2. (8 player style)

Everyone here acts like GeoW 2 raped your mother or something.

You are correct sir improvements but when you look at the overall picture of gears 2 that is just it improvements and that is it nothing more just a more polish and better version of gears 1 that is what gears 2 is, they don’t even have different enemy’s for God sake and I know it will be good and I will buy it, but then you go and say 60 players don’t even dare to bring RS 2 into this that game brings everything to the next level and you say well they add more player that doesn’t mean is more fun well sir you are wrong if you had played RS one you would know what is special about that game when they bring coop they just bring coop they take it to the next level 8 players and even a second story to go along and what does gears it doesn’t even have 4 players yes of course they will say is because they don’t play well that is BS, is because of because of technical reason this game was rush to the market by MS why do you think it doesn’t any better but that list that La Chance made is just boring stuff leaf from the first game maybe they have some new stuff but will it be good enough to put it on the back of the box hell no will you put features a new light system or now you can use cover from enemy’s that is just an add on and even previews are saying that the duel chain sawing is crap is just a bottom masher and is not fun gears is a hell of a fun game but when you say it looks better and has all this features that it doesn’t really have there just add on and you say I want to revamp the game no the game is good but I don’t want to play the same game over and over even God of war added some new elements and new enemies I am with you dude the game is cool but you can’t say that it has GOTY because is the same game with this add ons the only game that will over deliver is RS 2 and dare to say that Gears 2 will even come close to what there offering and I don’t mean 60 player is the complete package I will only buy gears and it will be the only game I will buy for my 360 this year there are no good games for it maybe left for dead will be good didn’t like fable so I won’t buy the second hope MS brings some good games in 09.

Well you PS3 fan(little)boys say nothing new in GOW2 lets see chainsaw battles, neckbreaking now that is cool, flamethrower, yes i know 5v5( who wants 30v30), sticking grenades to anything and everything, so what if the story is short this isnt a rpg or mmorpg and why would you want to play againt a lot of people when you kill one or two then get spawned killed like 10 to 15 times call of duty 3 anyone team base games are better then a run and gun game
