So far the colors available in the US are White, Black, Blue, Pink, and SPecial Editions such as Halo.

I hope so too. Competition is good for gaming and that region is in need of some. The japanese market has just been over-saturated with casual games and handheld games for a while now. A Sony vs Microsoft war for the japanese living room could be just what the region needs to regain prominence in the gaming world.

There probably won't be as big of a difference with those two since they're original IP's rather than ones that stem from a long series of popular games.

Look at Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey. They kept the 360 afloat for maybe a week after each's release, but it really didn't have much of a lasting impact.

But now that Vesperia propelled the 360 to a much more desirable location, Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant will most likely make a much bigger difference than Odyssey and Sonata did. But still not enough to match Vesperia.

I could be wrong though. The Japanese are too unpredictable. <<

Famitsu magazine are reporting that 360 sold 24000 and could have sold many more, it even claims it would have beat the Wii if there was enough stock

24K is a pretty good spike - though its still not AC6 territorry!

It would be good to see slaes stay up for the machine, as its healthy to have three serious competitors in all the markets, but I think its unlikley this is anything more than a quick blip.

It'll be intersting to see if sales going forward can beat 6k (last weeks sales) on a regular basis from now till xmas, if so MS are doing ok.
With the stock shortages I expect next weeks sales to be low. But maybe the sold out signs will get some interest and help future sales

Cheers for that - its certainly a good sign, Though of course, given the new sku, we could be seeing a combination of factors as stocks run low of the old sku in anticipation of the new, as well as increased demand!

Incidentally mate, all links to amazon sales list etc are not valid stories - I'd have reported it as well, and I can assure you I'm not SDF (though some have accused me of allegiance to both camps in the past). Your obsession with 'the SDF' is bit worrying! When I say 'SDF' it is nothing to do with the SDF website. I am only directing my comments at the users on N4g that MUST absolutely defend Sony to the death in the comments section.

Considering how extremely poor the 360 has been doing, I would say this is earth shattering news! Just to see the phrase..."Xbox 360 sold out in japan!" is mind boggling. It makes it look as if the 360 gets the right kind of games... it could become a success! Also, with news like this, it could make a few other japanese developers take another look at the 360!

Also it stands a chance that this will pass, and the 360 will be stuck in the same rut it has been in for a long time!

Only time will tell!

my Elite has never caused any problems for me and I have had major lengthy gaming sessions on it (8 to 12 hour gaming sessions). Knock on wood I haven't had any issues with it and I am hoping I never do.

I am not into RPGs any more myself but I am keeping both eyes on Fable 2 and Fallout 3. One or both my break my RPG dry spell that is 6+ years in the making. Both of those games look awesome.

Hey toolbox, the point isnt that they "sold out" - yes, clearly stock levels matter.

The bottom line: The Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 by almost double last week in Japan.

No amount of oft-repeated HAR HAR FUD from the SDF can change that.

In a few weeks, triAce's exclusive Infinite Undiscovery releases worldwide.

YET another terrific JRPG for Xbox 360 owners. Dont think for a second that Japan isnt going to ignore the Premier WRPG & JRPG console of the generation: The Xbox 360.

Like Food said it outsold the PS3 by a hefty amount so there was obviously enough stock to do that.

Thinking back to Xbox1 and PS2 days this would be absolutely unheard of. My how times have changed and hopefully it only gets better for the Xbox brand in Japan.
