You too can own a Gears of War 2 Lancer? But why?

Yes, you did read the title right and we're just as amazed/shocked/confused about it as well.

If you're willing to spend the equivalent of $130 for a special edition of a game, then you're clearly off your rocker to put it blunt. But being able to own your own lancer? That is quite a tempting offer.

It is clearly a lot better then the previous crap offered by special editions bundles such as the Bioshock miniature Big Daddy which was one of the worst quality figurines I've ever seen or the forth coming Fallout game which will give you an alarm clock for $60. This is the one special edition which I am very tempted to buy if I had money coming out my ears (That'd be a sight eh?).

This is obviously aimed at:
1. the most hardcore of Gears fans
2. Kids
3. collectors.

I bought one the minute I heard about it and upgraded it to the limited edition for 10 bucks more. why you ask? I have a 12 year old kid, and Gears and Halo are his favorite games. Last year the legendary Halo 3 game with helmet was his 07 xmas present and he LOVED it. So, basically I just bought him his xmas present for 08.

This is a very lame article because it brings absolutely nothing new to the table apart from it's flame bait headline, which has obviously let the dogs out in the open zone.

it isnt anything like the one cliffy has, those are sold by a prop company for a few hundred bucks and are hand made to order and extremely high quality

from what i've come to understand is the one that comes with the game is pretty big but not 1:1 size and basically just a hunk of plastic like the halo legendary helmet

It's an amazon exclusive and if you buy the lancer you get a copy of the standard edition of Gears 2 for free.

I dunno this is definitely one of the cooler collectible items. It's pricey, but cool. Lets just hope it's not cheeply made like the majority of other crap items that have come with these limited edition games over the years.

I think its great personally. It will virtually come of no use, unless you go to a fancy dress party as a character from the game, but theres nothing wrong with it if people want it. Its a collectable, and who knows, if the game does become great, and this becomes a hot product, it may well become a collectable and worth something to a gamer someday

it isnt the games that cost 100+ it is the extras that come along side, all it does is provide consumers choice and people to have a chance to own something that they enjoy, or collect

i'll stick to my normal priced games because most of the extras are useless to me anyway

but it has nothing to do with ps3 vs. xbox so don't try injecting the fanboy arguments into something that really has nothing to do with it

as long as the regular priced game is offered this isnt even close to a bad thing so keep the fanboyism in the open zone where it belongs

I honestly see no problem with them selling the Lancer. Hell, I wish they did this with DMC4 and life-size replicas of Ebony & Ivory.

Well this is one collectable thats got my attention....although the Big Daddy my buddy got was pretty cool. Still though, what do I really need it for, to put it in the closet next to the battle axe built in shop?
