Review: Too Human 93/100 (GAMES Magazine - Greece)

Scans of the first published review of Too Human, exclusive to the Xbox 360, have appeared at TooHuman.net. Games Magazine, a nationally syndicated Greek publication for all gaming platforms, declares it the game of the month stating:

"Too Human manages to combine the best elements of action and RPG. The result is not only interesting, but of high quality and very fun as well."

In summary it writes:

"Plus: Very well written story, impressive graphics, explosive action, deep character development.

Minus: Static Camera, few AI issues.

General: Too Human puts new standards for the action console games, and wins a seat among the best games of X360."

Personally i believe Too Human to be Too awesome.i have never played a demo so many times in my life.

Even i admit that the game is not for everyone.Some will hate it while some would love it to bits.I believe that reviews will reflect it by some sites given this game a score as low as a 5 while some will score it a 9 like as we see here.

Anyway i buy games that i want to play and not because of reviews and in my hands on time with the demo, Too human simply amazing.

I played the demo twice trying to like it ... I just didn't. The graphics look worse than a PS2/Xbox 1 game but the story is intriguing.

Ultimately, if I have to force myself to try and like a game then the game is really not that great in my opinion. I'm glad a lot of people like it though.

I guess I'm spoiled with MGS4, Uncharted, R&C, Gears, and Bioshock

They include visual design in their graphics score, which is perfectly reasonable.

Visual Design should be included in graphics, because even if you're looking at the most high-res texture, multiple anti-aliased and filtered high-definition particle effects you've ever seen, it's not so impressive if it doesn't have any interesting design involved.

@incogneato: You realize there are publications such as the Official PlayStation magazine, right? And one that is the official magazine of the used/new video game store, GameStop? It's called Game Informer. Sites owned by these publications and the rags themselves are not to be trusted as a be all end of source of information.

Previews on both consoles are almost always positive, because most previews wouldn't even come out without some cash from someone.

1.10 - Love this game

The demo was fun and I would give it an 84/100. But I may have been a little short-sighted because it was only the demo and a small cross-section of the game.

The controls take a little time to master because old habits are hard to break. Once you are able to overcome habits formed from other 3rd person shooters from the past, it does become much easier to play and the camera easier on the eye.

I will be buying this game, and I hope it is successful so we can get another two sequels.

Granted the game doesn't look as good as a game like Uncharted, MGS4, or Gears...but for a dungeon crawler with as many enemies on screen as TH is pushing, It looks pretty darn good.

The environments are large and pretty well detailed. The character models are adequate but not great. The effects and explosions are very solid. I wouldn't call the game's graphics "impressive", but they're certainly not terrible...I'd say overall they're slightly above middle of the road for this gen.

Games like these (Dungeon crawling, loot gathering, action RPG's) live and die by loot, replayability, and gameplay....not graphics...otherwise people wouldn't still be playing Diablo II.

I loved the demo, and I'm anxiously awaiting the full release. A good first score is encouraging, hopefully it's the first of many.

Agreed, if Dyack and the Silicon Knights crew would have made the game's genre more clear ahead of time, much of the confusion around the game would have been lifted.

A lot of people have come into this game expecting Ninja Gaiden or God of War, and that's an easy assumption to make considering the style of the action matches up visually along those lines. Those who have invested time into the game see that it has much more in common with Diablo, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and Champions of Norrath. Too Human is a very refreshing game to me, because it's very different than most of the games available this gen.

Because of forces both beyond and within Silicon Knight's control, this game really hasn't gotten a fair shake from a lot of people. Hopefully we'll see that start to change once the game rolls out. Whether you love the game or hate it, it deserves to be judged on it's own merits.

This is how you knw Editorial reviewers know they're seen as gods of the gaming community and abuse their percieved diety.

Even when people have played the demo and seen all the footage of this game, even the 360 fans that dogged this game to hell will do a '180' and say the game is one of the best in history just because editorial reviewers said so.

If editorial reviewers said GoW was a 5/10 type game, most gamers would actually believe it. Unbelievable the hold these gaming sites have over the community. They can say virtually anything and get away wtih it especially if the game is a new IP.

We dont play games we like anymore. We only play games editorial reviewers tell us to play. It sickening!

About 90% of the people I've heard actually played it (including myself) has enjoyed it a lot. If you don't go into it expecting something it isn't, the game is gold.

It's also got replayability up the ying yang, as well as a great art style (regardless of how good the graphics are).

I'm not ganging up on you. But the reason Haze got so much hate was because alot of PS3 owners were hyping it up as a "AAA" exclusive for the PS3. Then they got the demo and the game got released with poor scores and those same PS3 owners jumped off that falling ship real quick.

The hate for Haze is justified. It was supposed to be multiplatform then it went exclusive to the PS3. 360 owners hate it because they lost it, PS3 owners hate it because it sucks. I played the demo. It sucks.

There are certain 360 only owners on here that suck.

It's best to own both. That way you can take a more unbiased view on games. I know you have stated many times that your going to get a 360. I think once you do you will look upon games like Too Human with a different perspective.

I will be owning both consoles but I wasn't one of those PS3 owners who were hyping Haze to begin with. I said that if it was a good game, I'd buy it. But it turned out to be bad so...oh well.

In the case of Too Human, I was probably wrong for judging this game so quickly. Let's just see what the other reviews have to say.

Juuken I never said you were one of the people that hyped Haze and then jumped ship. I just said that others have. All I am saying is that it's not fair to judge Too Human just because it as a 360 exclusive unless you have "really" played it, or the reputable reviewers such as IGN slam it.

I really liked the Too Human demo. But it took some time to grow on me. Once I got into upgrading my skills and upgrading my weapons. I was hooked.

I agree with you though that we should wait for all the scores to come in, and people are actually playing the full game before proclaiming this game to be a hit or a flop.

So I apologize if you thought I was lumping you in with the people who want this game to fail just because Haze did.

I hear what your saying. She and I got into it in the Open Zone some time ago when I first came back to this site. And again the other day. But we squashed it and actually after having talked to her she seems pretty cool.

I'm the one who is really reformed. I had an old account on here with the same name that got reduced from 4 bubbles to 1 bubble in 1 weekend for bashing the PS3 about 9 months ago. But I was a disgruntled PS3 owner last summer when the only game I saw fit to own was Warhawk and I was waiting for games. All that has changed now of course.

I'm sure the avatar I used of my flexing my 20 inch biceps didn't help either. People were attacking me left and right for that picture :p

Well I like to debate not so much argue. I prefer the 360, but I don't consider myself a fan boy. People waste to much time, effort, and energy debating over a piece of hardware. It is much more enjoyable to be a gamer.

The Chiefs had a good showing last nite, but they will probably still suck. 5-11 is my best outlook this year. I hate our QB, our GM, and our coach but I was born and breed a Chief.

14 - the only problem is

they must make their own engine , or get some professional staff for optimizing the code..

the design is ultra impressive,spell design is impressive too(many ripoff s from warcraft like frost armor...etc but even blizzard is out of Ideas, so no offence)
gameplay is fun (specialy for action RPG fans)... but there is sth wrong :
1-animations
2-frame rate issues..
3-textures
4-some character models
5-explosions !

plz make your own engine .. unreal engine is BS .. there is only few devs that can make good games with this engine .. games like Bioshock,mass effect(even this game had big issues but they arent that annoying),Gears !!..

the Too Human project is Awesome(story,art direction,design) but UNREAL engine ruins it .. anyway I will wait for more credible reviews.. I want to buy 360 for this and FABLE 2..

just like Brother in arms:HH (first build looks amazing but in 2 frame per second) this engine is impossible to optimize with HDR .. mass effect did that with some post process and lowres textures anywhere that wont attract attention(you cant notice because of design) ..

same for Too Human ..

u think why EPIC and silicon knights had problems with unreal engine 3..epic think they use their codes without paying the cost.. thats it dude

everything I see from this game say that it use same code as unreal engine.. :P .. may be Im wrong , but their internal engine sux, because their first plan was using the UE3 and they failed, cuz of that ,they hadnt enough staff or time to make a whole new engine, so they use Unreal engine codes without EPIC permission ..(thats my thought :D )
