Huh.. guess the game isn't a flop like most of the people here on n4g thought it would. And we all know what this site is full of..

edit- I never said sales determines if the game is great or not. How many units are sold does determine if the game/system flops. Remember when the PS3 first came out and nobody was buying it? Everybody and their grandma was calling it a flop and it was then Sony got desperate and dropped the price by $100 only after 6 months on the market...

"it doesn't really matter if a game is great at the end of the day. if it sells well and makes money, that was silicon knights goal."

In a business standpoint you are correct.. In a developer standpoint its a whole different story. I'm pretty sure all developers out there want their game to be the next Zelda Ocarina of time but doesn't happen that way. So at the end of the day its about having money to keep your company a float.

eh, the ONLY thing that matters to us is that the game is great. If a crap game sells well then you are likely to see more crap games, so you aint making no sence.

Not that i have anything against Too Human but If demo download is just over million there is no way pre orders are million ++
I am buying a copy when it goes on sale but not paying 60 + tax
Simple statistics
1 demo download = 1/5 pre-order.

Won't be a commercial flop. But then I don't own or make money off Silicon Knights profits so I don't really care. I just want to know if it'll be a critical flop or not.

Assassins creed is widely panned as a good idea, bad execution game. Yet that thing sold like 5 millie or something.

1.10 - Too Human - Adventure/Action game of 2008 - Mark my words.
@1 & 1.1

The previews have been stellar.
The first review, was 93/100.
Pre-orders are over 1,000,000.

So, when the game gets great reviews... its a hit.

And, Too Human is a hit.

It will be Action/Adventure Game of the Year 2008 from many places.

All this "moving the goalposts" to try and spread anti-Too Human FUD is just ridiculous. Face it, It is going to do VERY well, and it is WELL deserved.

I didnt pre-order it, but I'll be buying it Day #1.

Too Human looks crap to me, I thought it looked good at one point until I saw the gameplay videos. There are a lot of games that have come out that aren't that great e.g. Halo 3, GTA4, but they got very high (hyped) review scores. I suspect that the same thing is happening with this game, say what you want about MS, but they KNOW how to hype a game.

I pegged Too Human as a flop months ago...but after finally playing the demo I gotta say I'm definitely intrigued. I'm going to do some more research on this game and of course see how it does in reviews, but I am officially interested in Too Human.

Wow. 1 million pre-orders?

Good news for Microsoft and Silicon Knights.

Bad news for me because I didn't preorder :p

I got the hook up at Target though. My friend gets a 10 percent discount and can get the game at midnight of the release date.

lawl

"After the release of the game’s demo a reported 370,000 additional games were preordered, in addition to 495,000 cancellations."

"This means that in total, as of July 31, 2008 852,000 copies of Too Human have been preordered. It is expected that an additional 5% of these will be cancelled and as the release date approaches..."

so, the demo came out and the number of ppl that cancelled their pre-order was higher than those who made one? then u got 852,000 minus 5% of that... 1 million is quite the number lol

wow dude, i must have a different version of the internet.

A mysterious poster over at the Xbox.com forums has posted an excerpt of what he claims is a 300 page report that covers all projected figures for titles shown at E3 ‘08 along with other titles due to be released before Q3 2009. He allegedly obtained the report via a GameStop manager and extracts the following from the report regarding Too Human:

“According to sales reports from Gamestop, EB Games, and Microsoft Co., there were an estimated 1.4 million preorders placed in the contiguous U.S. during the one-year period leading up to E3, 2008. After the release of the game’s demo a reported 370,000 additional games were preordered, in addition to 495,000 cancellations.

During the E3 conferences and in the week after, a mere 45,000 preorders were cancelled while 350,000 more were made. There were only a reported 8,000 cancellations during the year prior to the demo’s release.”

ur 45,000 is during e3 week.
learn how to read articles please.
thank you.

so that is about 100,000 per year of development, pretty good I think

I really hope this game is cool, I have it pre-ordered and am staying away from the demo because I would rather not play it until I can play the whole thing. Sounds like it is about what I expected and should be quite the game

Oh, the old "Too Human has been in development for 1000100101 years! har har!"

You know what? Good ideas stick around. SK had a great idea, and many publishers agreed -- that is why the Too Human idea stuck around.

And, you know what? IM DAMN GLAD they did. Why? Because Too Human is obviously a terrific game, and the Demo shows it.

93/100 and 1,000,000 pre-orders == you owned.

Instead of pulling FUD out of your arse, take your nonsense to the Open Zone.

8 - to be honest im suprised even tho its just a rumor
before the demo came out many people were dissing the game with out them playing it,then the demo came out and it was downloaded alot and some people liked it while some hated it. now it has over a million preorders, looks like too human will be one of those games u either love or hate. i still dont see the game beign an AAA game as of now but the game is set to sell a decent amount.if reviews sites like ign/gamepro gives it 9 then the game will be bigger than i tought it will be.

Really? I think they're just trying to get some hype out there for the game. I still think this is gonna be a repeat of Lair. Just because something sells over a million doesnt mean its any good, look at Kane and Lynch. That game was sold on false hype and controversy, much like Too Human in my eyes.

Oh well, I wish them the best though.

9.2 - the original 50 Cent
game sold over 1 million units. does that mean that game is awesome? no.

as for Too Human, i played the demo, and it wasn't very fun, nor was it complete garbage, but i'm intrigued by the world and story, and i really love Silicon Knights games, so, at the least, i'll rent it, at the most, i'll bite the bullet and buy it.

i don't base my purchasing decisions on other people's opinions (ie, reviews) unless they are someone who's opinion i generally trust (ie, friends). in the end, it's my hard earned money, and only i know what i really like.

some people worry too much about what other people think, instead of simply enjoying the things they enjoy. i happened to enjoy Lair and Haze, even though both games were far from perfect, and they were blasted by "critics" everywhere.

i saw Too Human in person back at E3 a few years ago, and it disappointed me then due to it's horrid framerate making it unplayable on the floor. i still held out hope that Silicon Knights would deliver. the game is average at best on the gameplay end, though i'm sure the story will be top notch.

^ well said, if it's one thing silicon knights are known for, it's good stories, and something tells me too human will deliever that. Interesting point you made about your friends being trusted reviews, I have a feeling this is one of them games where word of mouth will do it more favours than 'credited' previews/reviews.

9.4 - *rolls* eyes at the SDF FUD.
"I still think this is gonna be a repeat of Lair."

Not. Gonna. Happen.

Lair sold 350,000 copies, was DEVESTATED by reviews and sucked very badly.

Too Human has 1,000,000 *pre-orders*, has been getting excellent previews, has a 93/100 review today, and based on the Demo, clearly rocks as a genre-expanding Action/Adventure/RPG.

Too Human is going to be a TERRIFIC game.

If there's one thing that 360 owners are, it's that they're loyal to their system and its (types) of exclusive games, and supporting their favorite console. Most 360 exclusive titles seem to end up doing better than I would personally expect them to.

Not that PS3 owners aren't, to a greater or lesser extent; games such as MGS4 and Uncharted are obviously doing pretty well.

i think it also has to do with the ps3 being a blu-ray player as well where the divide between entertainment unit/games console is within the product population is anyone's guess, however with the xbox being strictly a gaming machine means most buyers are gamers not to forget the attach rate proves xbox owners tend to buy more games more often...
