Crackdown 2: "The door's not closed," says Realtime Worlds

Speaking to VG247 at Develop, Realtime Worlds has offered a God-sent glimmer of hope that we may yet see a sequel to free-roaming future cop blockbuster Crackdown, one of the most-loved Xbox 360 games. That's the spirit.

I love this game. I remember picking it up primarily for the Halo 3 beta and wound up falling in love. Hours of hilarious entertainment with my roommates over co-op.

This is a much desired sequel.

Someone please explain to me what is good about this game?
To me its awful and if it was multiplatform probably wouldnt get as much attention.
You can jump high, throw things, and you shoot druggies, thats the entire game

1.6 - It had a lot of side gameplay.
If you just play for the story, it was decent. The weapons were creative, but the real juice of the game came from the player development and the side quests and races.

My big hope for the sequel is that they make coop work better and that the figure out a way to make replayability a lot better. Also, a few more weapons couldn't hurt. Something to compete with the homing rapid fire missile launcher would be nice.

imo you should always have a top tier of weapons that are similar power with completely different mechanics. It adds a lot of variety having a few extra things to choose from instead of sitting there spamming missiles at the sky and killing everything.

me too but it didnt have enought missions, and there's only so long you can mess about on it. Hopefully the next one will have more to do built in, instead of creating our own fun.

All in all I enjoyed it far more than the latest Grand Theft Auto. I actually finished Crackdown, more than I can say for GTA4.

same here. I think if they made a multiplayer or bigger co-op would be awesome. Imagine the chaos.

Hopefully the missions are more in depth. They were basically go there and blow ppl up. It was fun, but what about some car chases or bank robberies. It would be fun to bust in on a heist and mess up everything.

That game still has some of the best DLC of any 360 game. That was the one DLC that I felt I really got more than my monies worth.

9 - Meh.
And if that door was closed locked and barred, I wouldn't care. Crackdown wasn't bad, but there are more convincing open world video games on the horizon like, inFAMOUS and Mercenaries 2: World at War (which is coming out soon).

but Crackdown is nothing like Mercs or inFAMOUS, its pretty unique. You're not gonna be throwing cars around, jumping buildings or transforming cars in Mercs or inFAMOUS. Both look great but not a patch on the fun of Crackdown.

would be awesome, I wish there was a little more variety in the missions, and I would give it a multiplayer mode(aside from co-op).

excellent new IP though

Whoo! I loved the first Crackdown. It was quite a short game though, so hopefully this one has more missions. Also, I didn't like the way you could branch off and do your own thing in co-op. It would be good if there was more emphasis on working together.

Great game. And the sequel should be even better. More of everything the original had and some better storyline elements and this game is Gold.

They are finishing up APB right now though, which seems like a spiritual successor to Crackdown. That game looks good too.
