Sierra says Ghostbusters is not canceled

The internet reacted violently to the news that the new Ghostbusters game was no longer in development, due to its absence on Activision Blizzard's release list. "It is not canceled and it will not be canceled", says Sierra PR.

It was the game i was expecting most this year after Mirrors Edge and LittleBigPlanet. I just really, really, REALLY hope that it's not canceled. Heck i still have a tiny sliver of hope that it might actually come out this year. Santa make it happen!

Think the "Can" article had a bit too much assuming going with it. I don't really care that much about Ghostbusters, looks good and I'll proly rent it, but I really really want Brutal Legend to come out ... sometime.

4 - the part that annoys me
is that the game is definately delayed, the time it will take to find a publisher and choose and accept offers not to mention the contracts being drawn up will take to long and delay the game at least a month or two and may even push it to 2009.

the game is really good looking though, so a publisher may step up to the plate and get a deal drawn up quickly enough.

post, i work at Activision-Blizzard

and Ghostbusters, Riddick, 50 Cent (unfortunately), and Leisure Suit Larry are not cancelled.

in fact, a crapload of new testers were just brought in for Ghostbusters.

i highly doubt that Activision, a company KNOWN to milk popular licenses (Marvel superheroes, Shrek, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk) for massive amounts of cash would pass up on an opportunity to milk, at the least, Ghostbusters. that game will sell a million or two simply from NAME alone, regardless of quality (ie, like the Spider-Man games).

on a related note, i see Ghostbusters every day i come to work, and it's looking GREAT. just based off of the quality of the game alone, it makes no sense that A-B would cancel it. i've yet to play it myself, however. maybe after i'm done with Riddick, i'll be able to get my hands no it.

Thanks for the update! I just can't see Activision-Blizzard not capatilizing on potential franchises in Brutal Legend and existing franchises like GhostBusters (game capatilizing on PS3 technology).

6.2 - no problem
i hate disinformation and FUD, so i try to clear it up to the best of my knowledge and abilities.

considering that i'm currently playing Riddick multi-player right now, and we just got a new build of the game yesterday, i'm thinking production is moving forward. Ghostbusters is looking damn fine also.

Activision sucks, but making poor business decisions isn't really in their repetoire (ie, buying Bond, Guitar Hero, and merging with Blizzard, the WoW masters, was a masterstroke on Activision's part, i hate to admit).
