Play Mag UK reviews SC4 - 9.4/10. " Better looking than the 360 version"

If you've had a favourite character in the past, then the alterations will be pretty easy to notice. It's more of an overhaul than Soul Calibur III was over its predecessor, and it does genuinely feel new and fresh. And the stunning visuals don't hurt either. Soul Calibur IV is absolutely gorgeous.

The animation has always been superb, but now the detail and solidity of the character models match it. Mitsurugi's scars, Vader's shiny armour, Taki's… assets, they've all been crafted with such care and attention, each pixel has been given some sort of flair or purpose. On a decent 720p TV Soul Calibur IV is one of the best looking games on the PS3, and for once better looking than the 360 version, and is the ideal thing to put on when a mate pops round.

MS is going to find out that the price cut did not help them. People are at 360 saturation here in the US. They are going to have some serious egg on their face and we'll hear a lot of excuses about shortages when the July figures are released. I can't wait to hear how MS tries to weasel out of this one.

Not a peep. They knew that "low stock" excuse was being used too much and decided to save it so when the price cut fails to ignite they have some reasoning, though flawed as a backup. Seriously though, when the July figures come out and the 360 couldn't take the PS3, the industry is going to push a wheel chair over to the 360 and say, "Here old man. You look worn out. Have a rest."

I remember when I got my PS3 60Gb I had already been through 3 Xbox 360s at that time - I am on my 4th now and it is on the fritz. When I fired up the PS3 it just felt completely different. Like a true next generation machine rather than some noisy carnival ride. And it provides that capability not just as a gaming rig but as a true media hub. That is what people are moving toward this fall. Bluray and next gen media. But they also get gaming on top of that.

I don't know what Cahill has as an affiliation but he is correct. Amazon's top seller list is all about PS3 and Wii. It is kicking some butt over there.

I already have SC4 and I am playing it on my modded 360 elite! Now as far as the PS3 and Wii outselling the 360 in the past months....who cares if they have sold more than the 360. The Wii outsells everything we all know that, but now all the people that wanted a PS3, but were waiting for some games and a lower price are now getting them. Personally I love my 360 and yes my first one died, but since I have a slick scheme to get a new one whenever they RRoD (it is as simple as buying a new one then switching the tops and returning the broken one with the new top for your money back) I worry not. I plan on getting a PS3 when it has more to offer, but since I have my 360 and TONS of games to play who needs a PS3 right now.

People should pay attention to the source. Play mag is a ps only site so that's as bad as the official ps mag saying it's better looking. Another thing is how would they know if it looked better when Namco wouldn't give them a 360 review copy being a PS ONLY SITE!! Lets wait till more credible reviewers comment about it and we see it for ourselves. Don't want to rush to judgement and this thing totally backfire.

Controller was my deciding factor, 360 D-Pad is useless. I'm not really concerned which has better toe nail graphics. But good to see the PS3 is pulling it's weight now on the multiplatforms.

Fishy I agree with u I prefer the ps3 controllers on fighting games I am still an old school gamer in which uses D-pad every once in a while especially on fighting games. Oh ya another game I am excited for was Street Fighter IV I have a ps3 and 360 but I will also prefer to buy both fighting games on a ps3. Don't care about the graphics its all about the controls. Oh ya the upcoming trophies is just an icing on the cake. :).

HOWEVER, some reviews could be helpful to flush out those crappy games that are obviously crappy.

Usually a Demo tells us what we want to know about a game a lot better though.

8 - PS3 controller > Xbox 360 controller, Xbox 360 online > PS3 online

I've played both versions of this game for many hours in the last 2 months at our office and both look stunning. There are absolutely no big differences in the graphics between the two versions. The PS3 controller has a better DPAD, the Xbox 360 version will have better online play. It's up to you to decide which version you're going to buy. Don't forget to buy the Hori SCIV fighting stick if you're really serious about these kind of games. With this fighting stick, you will also have great controls on the X360, plus the better online mode.

Hell,if we're going to believe what a Playstation exclusive website tells us then Official Xbox Magazine says that Ps3 is a paperweight and all the games suck including resistance.....what?!....its a reliable source...

Publish news, not hype. Find an article on a neutral site like egm, gameinformer, next-gen,penny arcade anything but these lame hype machines.

Oh also Nintendo Power says its graphics are 77 times better than killzone 2. And nintendo's new game is a pre-pre-pre-pre alpha which has been in development for 25 years(only the true hardcore will get that joke).

13.2 - I did the same thing with Oblivion...

My 360 was having a hard time running this game and had alot of loading times. Sent it back and got the ps3 version and the game just looked better and was running smoother then the 360 version. Even though they came out with a patch later for the 360 version, the ps3 version still ran smoother and looked better.

I was wondering about the 360 Oblivion "visual boost" patch. I started playing it again about a month ago and it looked better than ever. I didn't know if it was a visual update or if I forgot what it originally looked like.

It sucks that Kratos isn't in SC4. The Star Wars tie-in is somewhat upsetting to me. SC2 exclusive characters was quite fitting, well except for Spawn (Microsoft needs another mascot besides Master Chief)

Watch man. 1up would have been quik to mention this, which makes me think out of the recent fear they have of PS3 fanboys they said they were visually the same. I bet you the 360 version is superior. Just from the pics the 360 version is more vibrant and has better textures 1up and others" mix the pics but you can still point out the PS3 pics.

PS3 games are alway suppose to be better.

14 - Generally, when a game starts on a PS3 and leverages the PS3's power, the game will look better...

...but often times, many developers in the past did not do that... that's why Virtua fighter was only the slightest bit better on the 360 (Started on the PS3, but did not leverage it's power), yet DMC4 was the superior version on the PS3. Furthermore, when it comes to a game that pushes a little more, the look will become more obvious; if you ever had the luxury of seeing the PS3/360 versions of UTII, you will agree, even if grudgingly, that the PS3 version is noticeably better graphically.

I think personally that the more the developers get into the PS3, the better PS3 games will get. But the question begs, is the up and coming Gears of War merely pushing the boundaries of past 360 games or pushing the limits of the hardware's architecture?
