Any Joe soap can bring a spurious case against a company claiming they've being ripped off. Most cases don't even make it as far as court and are thrown out. It is the cases that are upheld that count.

I've been in the games and PC trade since 1990. Microsoft are in a league of their own when it come to multinationals being fined and SUCCESSFULLY sued.

BTW Did you check to see how many hits you got for "Microsoft sued" when you put it in google?

How many times have they settled out of court?

More than anyone else.

And it's not just their gaming division.

Also the only spurious case I can think of involving £ony is when they sued Lik-Sang.

while I do not care for the Halo franchise you CAN NOT deny it's MASSIVE success, and just because there are people who do not think it deserves the success you must realize that millions of people do and they bought the game and are still playing it today.

Haze on the other hand was a massive disappointment, I am sure that there are way more people who were disappointed by Haze than that of whom were totally satisfied.

@7.1 - But Microsoft did hype Halo, and it didn't meet a lot of peoples expectations. It's true that it sold like hotcakes, but single player wasn't what a lot of people were hoping.

Haze is a retarded example of Sony "lying." I don't think Sony really hyped the game at all. It certainly wasn't as extensive as Halo 3's marketing campaign. All console makers over hype their games (or as he calls it "lie").

This article is fudging stupid. The entire website should be wiped off the face of the internet.

What is half life's multiplayer though? counter strike? tf2? (if you ask me tf2 is a lot more "kiddy" than halo) you would have been closer in comparing halo to the unreal tournament series in style of gameplay, even then there's the separation between the pc and console markets. halo is a massive success, it set quite a few records upon its debut, walked away with an impressive 9.5/10, and at this point it is the most played game on xbl (recently surpassing cod4, which you would be more accurate in comparing to counter strike), and comparing it to half life (just because the two have aliens in them/they're both fps's) is pretty lame (even though half life is an extremely solid series, it just isn't very comparable to halo as far as style of gameplay goes, they're just too different)

sure i think this article is bs, every company makes hype (hell look at kane and lynch...now that was lying!), but a lot of times it just comes down to looking at reviews/videos for yourself rather than listening to what marketing teams have to say about their own game.

btw...i did see a ton of haze commercials (nearly as many as i saw halo commercials) sponsored by sony, so saying they didn't spend money hyping haze is false.

Half life has its own independent online and those are all source engine based online games. The Source engine is Half-Life engine it is not the game. what you just said makes zero sense. compile your sentences better before you start talking. i am not gloating, i am saying that halo was very successful, it is not a kiddy half life appetizer game (it's rated M! and it is in fact the most played game on xbl), and that while all things related to valve and their source engine (be more specific!) are extremely good and very successful, as far as i know, there are not any games that massively available on the console market that are very similar in style of gameplay to halo 3. Even if there was half life multiplayer on the 360, it would be more comparable in style of gameplay to cod4 (which is also very successful) unless you are talking about tf2, which is a complete style of its own (and the fact that the last time i checked there were only a few hundred people playing it vs a few thousand on halo says something too).

Halo's success is it's multiplayer which is still the most played on xbl.

It's the £ony fans who don't like it and thats out of jealousy.
I guarantee if it was announced for ps3 you would all be singing it's praises (bioshock anyone)

The single player was great.
A lot of fun and the last level really got the adrenaline pumping. Might be generic but sometimes when you buy a sequel you buy it because you liked the first one and want more of the same. The single player in co-op was so much fun as well.

I know you can say well cod4 was better. Thats your opinion not fact, but I played both in single, multiplayer and co-op over xbl and do you know what that means.
I had the choice to play both. You don't. You're stuck with haze. A bland, even more generic, delayed, hyped, last gen shooter.

If you can't play games don't hate them for that. Halo 3 was a success and the vast majority of people that actually bought it enjoyed it than didn't. The only people you hear hating it are those from the £ony end who didn't buy (though i'm sure they will all be on here saying the did and still didn't like it but i thought no ps3 owner would ever buy a 360?) the ninty lot don't seem to hate it.

Know why, it's not a threat to their machine.

If Halo 3 had come out for PS3, I wouldn't have bought it. Halo 1 on the other hand, I would have bought. Having online doesn't make a game. The game being fun, fresh, and well made, makes a good game. Saying that a lot of people bought something isn't a real sign of it being good. It could still be crap.

i never knew it was sony who made this game i was under the impression it was from ubisoft, maybe its just me or maybe its because i would use facts when i write an article. If sony wanted to generate hype they would have marketed MGS4 a lot more.

the following is opinion but i didnt write an article about it:
its also laughable that he said gears 2 looks better than killzone 2, killzone 2 currently looks better and is almost garunteed to since it comes out a month or two later than gears.

All this did was open up more fanboyism if msoft saying they had a 3% failure rate isnt lies to keep up the hype i dont know what is, point is all sides are at fault for something, nintendo in the early days of the wii tried to act like it could do awesome graphics and keep up with the ps3/360

I don't really recall all that much hype around Haze. Near the beginning of its existence I remember there being a little, but for the most part the game spent most of its time under the hype radar. Also, saying that Killzone2 looks equal to Gears2 I could handle, but its my personal opinion that this guy is batsh!t crazy if he thinks Killzone looks like trash. The animation is solid, graphics are solid, and the multiplayer looks like I finally will have a reason to drop CoD4 for a while. Just another one-sided editorial from someone trying to sell opinions as facts.

The media feeds and generates hype just as much as Sony, MS, or Nintendo does. And the fans feed into it, and help it grow. We are ALL to blame. But to single out Sony just reeks of typical Sony Hatorade that the media loves to spew. I could at the same time bash MS's lack of originality, Nintendo's turning its back on its fanbase, and more.

Another Xbox 360 fanboy article.

That Killzone 2 trailer was a "target video", it was never meant to be perceived as actual in-game footage. Basically Guerrilla Games set the bar very high and they wanted to show people what they wanted to achieve in Killzone 2 in terms of graphics.

As far as Gears 2 looking better than Killzone 2, that's a joke. Killzone 2 is still far off from being released, and since Killzone 2 got pushed to Feb. 2009, Guerrilla has more time to polish the HELL out of the game.

And if you want to talk about hype, Microsoft is the king of hyping up game titles, just look at what they did for Halo 3.... Halo 3 on Mountain Dew cans?!

When it comes to Sony's games, I think that the media tends to hype up the games more than Sony themselves.

Waaaaaaa? Was Haze even hyped much? I don't remember hearing much about it until it got a 4.5 from IGN. and wasn't Ubisoft the publisher? How is that Sony's marketing department.

Not only that but Gears graphics makes Killzone graphics look like school fete? I mean Gears looks great but Killzone looks pretty great too. The graphics actually looks better than the original trailer in many regards.

And didn't Microsoft play a CG trailer to announce Halo 3.

Yeh you have to admit. Haze REALLY SUCKED. Before it came out everyone was talking about how it "couldn't lose!" and listing it as a reason to buy the PS3.

KZ2 might be good, just not as impressive as GEARS2.

Xbots are totally in denial.
MS lies way more than Sony.
MS lied about fixing the hardware issues w/ the 360's RROD.
MS lied about the fake advertising of 1080P games played on the 360.
MS lied about being long term w/ the 1st Xbox and was discontinued after 4 years and 1 year after that in 2005 the 360 was released.
MS lied about Vista claiming it can do all these features and it didn't deliver.
MS promised to show Halo, Alan Wake, and Splinter Cell Conviction at E3 2008 but didn't deliver and all those titles got pushed back until 2009.
MS promised to support all their old products and failed on their promise.
Where's the 1st Xbox?
Where's Windows XP?
Where's anymore commercials of the Zune?
Where's any new Microsoft products for that matter?
Instead of getting on Sony's ass why don't you look at the big picture with what Microsoft is doing to this gaming and electronics industry.
I can understand Haze and Lair didn't live up to the hype but what about Too Human, Crack Down, Hour of Victory.
Come on now Silicon Knights spent 10 years developing this Too Human game and now they couldn't live up to the hype after a decade of making this game.
I thought Crack Down was going to be ground breaking for the 360.
What happened there?
People complain too much to Sony about losing exclusives what about the 360.
Remember Bioshock?
Remember Mass Effect?
Remember GRAW 2?
Remember Elder Scrolls Oblivion?
Remember Eterna Sonata?
I can go on all day.
Sony may have lost FFXIII as an exclusive but Microsoft lost a lot more than Sony did for that one game stolen from the PS3.
Let's not forget FFXIII Versus and FFVII Remake are still PS3 Exclusive.
Also FFXIII doesn't come out until 1 year after the PS3 Version does.
PS3 FFXIII comes out 2009 so that means the 360 FFXIII comes out in 2010.
All you guys need to stop sucking Microsoft's d*** and actually think like a human being instead of a fan boy for once in your life.
I'll admit I like Gears of War, Banjo Kazooie and so forth but I know treachery and lies when I see it.
