E3: Sony Soars To New Heights

Endsights writes:

"Even though they lost another exclusive in Final Fantasy XIII, Sony had a strong yet somber showing at E3. They made it loud and clear, on several occasions, that this was the year of the PlayStation 3, and I couldn't agree more. After bringing up the rear in the "next-gen console war" ever since its launch, the PS3 is showing its teeth for the first time ever since the battle for supremacy began. After a stellar month of June, where the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 by a healthy margin, and where Metal Gear Solid 4 stealthily sneaked atop the sales charts for the month, Sony showed off its full arsenal for this year and beyond and proved that they can compete with Nintendo & Microsoft."

Two weeks time, a square enix surprise for PS3 owners involing Advent children, aparently it's going to swing the pendulum back into the PS3s favor, so says Shane bettenhausen on 1up lol

Sony has done quite a respectable of reaching what they promised. The issue isn't Sony, it is people like you that misunderstood Sony thinking that they were going to deliver everything on Day 1. That is your fault, not Sony's. They could do a better job in some areas but they are moving every day toward delivering on their vision.

For me the PS3 is exactly what they planned on delivering and is far more than a gaming machine. It is the next generation entertainment hub in my home.

Of course there are bitter people like you that wouldn't be satisfied with anything. Guess what? I could care less. I and what is easily the vast majority of owners - which you likely are not - are satisfied with Sony, their offerings, their vision, and most importantly their movement toward that vision.

People that expect a company to deliver everything right now and it will be perfect are the same people that will believe anything. And when they can't get the impossible the reaction is more than predictable. But gamers that understand how progression has to occur not only get what they want but they also enjoy it.

1.2 New Heights for who, Sony? You mean two consecutive 100M console selling Sony?

People just need to open their eyes. I actually bashed the PS3 when I first heard about it and its controller. They have made a fan out of me and I am one of their biggest supporters now. This is because of the quality that is coming from the Sony camp, and I believe it will continue through the whole generation.

4 - if it is a ff7 remake
How much would you pay for it? If it is a full on remake, meaning same plot and battles but with a graphics overhaul, I would pay hundreds for it.

6 - i think they've been showing their teeth since they lauched at 600 bucks
LOL!!! they sold well at 600 bucks for half of 2007, and then sold more than MS that whole year. kept up quite well for that hefty price with Ninty and MS having a hugely better price. It's their year, and their generation i believe. by the end of this year, alot of people will have nothing better than to buy one and shut up. the bashing is over, no more people can deny it. KZ and resistance are speaking and they've got exclusives to back it all up. they are showing off the small guns. The big ones come next year. Infamous, heavy rain, KZ2, God of War 3, and insomniacs next ps3 title. i cant wait. it's going to be amazing. naughty Dog is about to show it's face as well.

this year is theirs but after this year, it's time for them to take back what they lost. and i'm confident they will

6.1 - MS step slowy and ....
They are going to surpass MS. A year head start and their lead has been cut to roughly 5.5 million. I have both consoles. Yet, the PS3 gets more work. The PS3 is more bang for the buck.

i have both ps3 and 360 too. Actually 2 ps3 and a 360. My 360 broke twice on me already. I just don't use it anymore 'coz i want to use it last time for gears 2 then i am gonna have my dog chew on it. Ps3 is way more value for money. Its not even comparable.

8 - True article ...
... I was impressed by the determination that Sony is putting into releasing good and "exclusive" games. It's only a matter of time before the PS3 surpasses the 360 in sales and other functions.

MS had a nice introduction of the dashboard but it seems like too much of what they had to offer has been seen before (ala avatars and ps store looking dashboard). Not bad, but be more innovative (That goes out to Sony as well for directly copying and pasting Achievements).

By the way, when people say Xbox 360 has games, what do they mean?
Halo 3, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Mass Effect ... is that all?
