Microsoft, Dyack: "Ecstatic" at Too Human Demo Response

TheGameReviews.com got the chance to sit down with Silicon Knights CEO, Denis Dyack, to talk about their upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, Too Human. One of the questions posed by TheGameReviews.com asked how the response has been to the Too Human demo that was released on Xbox Live to the general public this Monday to which he responded, by saying he is "ecstatic" about the response Too Human has had. He didn't give any specific numbers, but did ensure us that the demo has been downloaded "a lot."

for like hour and a half, and now I kinda see what there tyring to do. So if the game is said to last nearly 60hrs, by the way they seemed like they made it, than im buying this game. It seems like the game is pretty epic, and the action is pretty INTENSE for an RPG game. I would rate it 8.0/10

I enjoyed it a lot mroe than i expected. The combat took a lot of getting used to. So did the camera. Once you get used to it, it's actually a lot of fun. I'm probably going to buy this shortly after release.

Just because it was downloaded alot, doesn't mean it's a game that lived up to its hype or was any good for that matter. Going by a myriad of forums, internet previews and demo reviews, the game is a love it or hate it, with the majority of players actually hating it moreso than they loved it. The concept and story however always interested me so who knows.

The game is pretty much a love it OR hate it. I love trying any game, and after playing the demo im willing to buy the game. But the way I see it...it seems most will just kinda past over it. If player are willing to give it time, they will LIKE this game, because of the customization of your armors and powers.

I don't trust what an idividual 'player' post on the web. You never know what their angle is. Most of the people who say they've played the demo have not, and a large portion of those don't even own the system. They just do anything to try to diss that system.
Most of the previews I've read were impressed. Personally I'm gonna buy it because I like to try new IPs and the demo was fun and fresh.

Excitement about a demo does not reflect excitement about a completed game. There has been a lot of interest, and concern, about how the game will look when it's completed especially since the initial previews have not been overly positive. It seems natural therefore that the gaming community would want to see what all the buzz is about.

Like hell. The inital previews have been exceptional. People that have **played** the game in a Preview have been saying very positive things.

Well I thought the demo was pretty fun. It'll probably sell a few hundred thousand copies and get around 7-9 reviews. Besides, even if it bombs MS said they will still support Silicon Knights and the game's sequels.

I'm expecting the full-play through reviews to be about 8.7-9.2

The game is just massive, has many new features/elements that un-settle traditional action/adventure and RPG genre-games.

After playing the demo, and knowing how much **MORE** the game is going to be, I'm pretty confident this game is going to be very well reviewed.

Now, sales may be a different matter. Its a new IP and it is an obscure genre (RPG/Adventure). I expect it to sell moderate-to-good, but it wont be a super-massive seller.

10 - This game is a day one purchase for me.

As soon as I had my 1st battle in the demo I was hooked. I seriously didn't expect to enjoy this game but after actually playing it I must say it is one of those games you just can't miss. I would give the game a 9.2 out of 10 based on the demo alone. This game just has a deep feeling to it that really has caught my attention and changed my opinions of it.

I highly disagree, I know that's your.. opinion. And, this is mine. I thought the demo was fantastic. The controls took a bit getting used to, but once I got it down, it was fun. The story intrigues me. And, yes, the graphics aren't great.. but, I don't care to much.

I thought it was generic and meh TBH.

Controls were a little iffy, the framerate slowed down a lot, linear, and its kinda boring. I can't imagine playing it for more than a hour.

The story and the diabloish loot system isn't gonna save it for me.

In short I didn't like it.

True it is a love or hate game and i loved it. I loved everything they showed me in the demo and i was bummed out when the demo ended when it was getting even better. The story will be an interesting one and i actually liked the controls since they are trying something different and the sound was great. Also, i had fun just trying to get cool loot and customizing my character. Well happy gaming!

Haze was a generic FPS and there are a ton of great FPS's so when an FPS is bad all of its flaws are exagerated two-fold.

This game is actually something original-- like space marines meets Diablo in a hack n slashing, loot collecting extravaganza. I expect this to get a metascore in the 80's. The combat is entertaining and being able to level up to 50 with scaling loot and enemy strength combined with the ability to co-op and select from 5 different classes makes this game highly replayable. I played through the demo 3 times already and got different gear each time so I know the loot table is really deep.

Lot of people saying good things about this game, well accept Sony fanboys. My first playthrough was rough but my second time I GOT IT! this game goes real deep and the attention to detail will make you smile :) The graphics are not bad, maybe first year 360/PS3 good but they get the job done and the level design is spot on. It's does take a bit to get used to the camera and controls but once you figure out the scheme you will be dicing and shooting everything with ease. The sheer amount of custimation of your character's weapons/armor/skills is endless. That doesn't even count the special items you can invent or add to your armor and weapons to make them unique. Guess you can tell I liked this game, and yes... I pre ordered just on the demo being that freaking good.

My impressions: wasnt sure but i started to get into it and depending on the length this may be a purchase for me. The graphics are subpar, but the areas are vast, the art style is good (very haloesque i think), and the music and dialogue are top notch. Ive never been a huge graphics whore (although i do like it when its shiny) and i think Too Human is a good example of a game that does everythng else well. Im guessing a solid 8 average.

The ones saying its horrible most likely havent played it and just got caught up with everybody hating on it.
Its far from perfect. Camera and Graphics could be a lot better. I actually like that the sword attacks are on the right stick, its just like in metal gear. Although it takes some time getting used to because you want to move the camera with that button but you cant.
The story is interesting enough and if the game is long enough Ill most likely buy it.

Haha. Haze was a flop, but Too Human is right there with that game. The PS3 has exclusives coming (Sony actually has first party developers). The 360 has a whole bunch of multi-plats. Wheres the experience exclusive to the XBox360? Oh yeah thats right, when Xbox360 does have an exclusive outside of Gears and Halo, it turns out like NG2 and Too Human, lol.

I also enjoyed the demo. It's not a game for everybody, but if you're into this type of game, I personally think it's a good demo, and will prob be a good game. Not a great game, but a good game.

But, I jus can't wait for Diablo 3 to come out. That game is the master of this genre. =D

the cutscenes are a tad boring. they tried to go for mass effect camera work with two worlds graphics! terrible story (norse mythology overload!) the gameplay was just above par but nothing special and the RPG elements felt tacked on. the demo was a hype killer it just dragged on and on. demo was pretty long though.

i have both PS3 and 360 so i got a chance to play this demo..tbh it does have a nice story plot but the controls are a bit whack for RPG, i liked the camera idea of looking around but i felt it just wasnt enough. it needed a bit more moves rather than a slow slash and fast combo only when you catch the enem in the air. it was an ok demo but for an xclusive i expected a bit more

yeah, you did not play it enough imho. Give it a rental when it comes out and play one class all the way through. And if you want to, set your 360 clock to 2010 with the Ethernet cable unplugged to try more classes. The game is not for everyone, but it does deserve a fair shake, something not many people seem to be doing for some reason...

Guys, both systems have great exclusive. PS3 and 360 both have great games; Uncharted, Ratchet, MGS4, and Warhawk for ps3; Halo3, Gears1&2, Forza, Ninja Gaiden. Stop arguing because sales figures don't mean much, beyond good and evil was one of the best games last generation and probably didn't sell a million copies. Just because a game sells well doesn't mean that a game is great.

Haze sucked hard, and sadly from what I've seen in the demo, so will Too human.

So about, let me count...about a dozen people here, mostly who have not even played it think this game sucks? After using the glitch to Unlock most classes I have spent as much time playing this Demo as I have watching mission briefings on MGS4 which means a lot. No offense to MGS4 which is a game I love and respect.

And what I have been reading in the Gamespot, Neo gaf, ign and other forums is that at first it is weird but it grows on you. Not everyone is hating it and the game will not be a flop. It is surely not as bad as people who have not played it and want it to fail are making it out to be. sorry. And it is not for everyone, I will be buying this day one, and I am not the only one.
