Greenberg: Wii Customers May 'Graduate' To Xbox 360

Talking to Gamasutra as part of a larger interview to be posted in the near future, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, has been commenting on Microsoft's attempts to attract casual gamers, suggesting that Wii customers are "going to want to graduate to an Xbox 360 experience" over time.

Microsoft is not making the game, Rare is. Also, Nuts and Bolts is a spin off, its not BK3. They are just testing the franchise.

EDIT: All Gears maps are free now so it doesn't matter at this point, but I see what you are trying to say. Still, they aren't going to "mess it up"

No he is the director of product management and directly responsible for making excuses for the 360's still ridiculous failure rate.

Actually he doesn't even excuse it, he pretends it doesn't exist. That part, the relations with the public over this massive problem is his job and he has done nothing about. He spends his time like every loser talking about the competition rather than his own company's product. And there is a reason for that - his company has a product that is very much last generation.

Seriously, other than a new interface and a slightly better video card the 360 is pretty much the Xbox just not as reliable sans the Thompson drive issue.

Well, I've heard differently. I remember reading an article late last year and the majority of video game anaylsts expected that more Wii owners would be more likely to buy Playstation 3's as their next console, but that was just anaylst speculation. But, Sony has always been able to attract Casual gamers pretty naturally without even having to try that hard, and it's very believable that Wii owners might be more likely to buy a PS3 next instead of a 360 because of Sony's history with casual gamers.

The Xbox 360 still has that "hardcore" gamer image written all over it and I don't think that Microsoft can shake that image off with just Banjoe 3, a new Viva Pinata game, and a new motion controller. Microsoft will need a slew of casual games to attract casual gamers.

Plus, it's not like Microsoft is even pushing it's casual games at all. I've seen Sony advertising HOME and LittleBigPlanet in commercials just recently, but I haven't seen Microsoft try to push their casual game titles in commercials. All I see Microsoft pushing is their hardcore game titles. When Fall comes around I can almost guarantee that you'll see Gears of War 2 commercials and Ad's everywhere, but you probably wont see one single Banjoe 3 commercial.

Wii owners aren't going to "graduate" to a Xbox 360 next just because it's the next cheapest console because the 360 is already cheaper than the Wii in some places in Europe, but the Wii still sells like mad and the 360 gets left behind.

Sony has more 1st party publishing power and that's why they actually have a greater ability to come out with more casual games if they want to. Microsoft is pretty much depending on RARE right now for casual games.

This guy is clueless and most of you are i guess as well.The wii caters to hardcore and casual alike.I'm 31 and i enjoy halo and games like metroid, mario even zelda.I have got ever consul that was made from nintendo to the xbox and ps.I can tell you stright out my wii gets way more time then the other too.The games that nintendo makes alone are a hell of alot more fun then half the other two get.Now i know there alot of shovelware on the nintendo just like the ps2 had when i got it.The games that have come out over the past 6 months have inproved alot.The 3rd party companys are getting better, why because they know the wii base is higher.So if the base contines to jump the more hardcore games the wii will see.Take a look at the past the gamecube was better then the ps2 but the ps2 won last gent.I know N4G is pretty much ps3 fanboys and some xbox fanboys. What was it early there was a post that said mgs4 bosted the ps3 in japan alot.....yet on another site it said sales were bad in japan and the wii was still runing away with it....someone lieing.So in truth did the ps3 outsell the wii in japan last month even know the wii had no big titles last month?

by saying Wii customers will graduate to xbox. First why will they choose to go xbox when playstation has motion controller which they are familiar with. Second does it make sense to buy a product that has a failure rate. Third by saying they will go Xbox 360 I'm assuming he is saying they are upgrading there TV to HD if so why not choose the Playstation 3 with a standard Blu-ray disk player. In my opinion Greenberg has some clear issues for denying reality of the problems the 360 is facing which are RROD, Lowering the price constantly which might have the game cube effect. You know what you can tell a person who is loosing when they all ways mention the composition.

They are a upgrade from the Wii i will admit that

We all knew E3 for MS was going to focus on the kiddies! They have one REAL adult game for the rest of the year! They might be shocked at how multi-platform games start 2sell now that the PS3 has a AWARD system of there own that is more focused around what we really want. 2 level UP

its the only thing you can do with it. Make it 50bucks less then the Wii and hope to god it starts to clear out that stock!
