Look the same, except Ridge Racer and Blazing Angels. To me RR6 looks better, but blazing angels looks a little better on the ps3 with the extra polish time.

Can't judge from these videos, they all look the same. COD 3 on the Ps3 is supposed to run in 30 fps and 360 60, but I can't see any difference between the versions. Bad videos I guess considering reviewers say the Ps3 version is'nt as good.

6 - OK I watched them all

and here is my breakdown:

Call Of Duty and Ridge Racer + PS3

Tiger Woods,Madden and Full Auto + 360

Fight Night, NBA 2K7, Need for Speed so close it doesn't matter which system you play them on

Tony Hawk, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, absolutely the same, no differences at all.

Blazing Angels, couldn't really judge it accurately since two different planes and two different environments were used.

I'm being as fair as I can here. PS3 is stronger in a couple of the games, 360 is also stronger in some and many of them are so similar or identical that it doesn't matter. You still have to factor the price into the equation, though. For the money Sony is asking, they better damn well knock my socks off in every single game, and they haven't done that with these games. Even in the games where PS3 looked noticeably better, the 360 versions were still more than acceptable.

I thought the 360 version looked dark and murky compared to the PS3. In a game where you are sometimes called on to shoot targets from a distance, I prefer the scenery to be bright and clear so I can pick off that sniper up in the tree from the glint off his scope before he parts my hair with a bullet.

8 - These videos...

aren't of the best quality to really compare, IMO. I'm defending both sides here. You need to play the same game for both systems on the same TV to really compare. However, if you go by the reviewers, nearly all major muliplatform gaming sites say the 360 versions of games like COD3, Ridge Racer, Tony Hawk, etc. all look and play better on the 360. At this point, I have to go by what they say, as its not just one or two sites, but nearly all of them.

Looking at videos from sites like gametrailers.com, I personally think the 360 overall looks as good (and a lot of times better). However, the only completely accurate way to judge is to see them on the same TV, as I don't know for sure where the online videos come from.

How can you even compare graphics with such a little video(s). It's like 300 x 200 pixel. But check the Need for Speed: Carbon video, PS3 has better graphics. The ground, car and envirioments are way better.

I have not even read the article. Why? It compares a launch console like a PS3 which is harder to develop for too. Wait a minute or a year at least before doing things like this. If the PS3 would make the XBox look bad as of now, I would see the PS3 as a way more muscular console I ever thought, or kick-ass developers not seen on the XBox scene...

But now that's not gonna happen, right? Exceptions do exist of course, but summing it up, comparing the consoles now can, with my eyes, only be seen as just a MS PR stunt (or a fan of the XBox).

Still - If these kind of tests continue it will be intresting to follow.

I get home and download these videos to my Media Player 11 library.

Then I will be able to pull them through my 360 and watch them in 720p rather than my crappy PC monitor.

I tried to make a comparison but you just can't unless you see it in high def IMO.

The true textures and graphics can't be seen on a standard 4:3 computer monitor.

yes I am saying that. I've streamed videos to my 360 and if the resolution of the video is as low as these are, there isn't much discernible differences. you're going to see a lot of video artifacts and you won't be able to make out many textures. I'll move along when I damn well please.

I have the VGA cable for my 360 and using an ancient 1280x1024 capable monitor and it does do 720p in native mode on that and looks great. You don't need an expensive HDTV to get 720p output. If you have an old PC monitor laying around, all you need is a $40 cable, less if you go with a generic one on ebay.

16 - Being a launch console that has been delayed by 8 months

from its previous date in NO EXCUSE....Sony hyped up their machine. And now fanboys are making excuses for its shortcomings. Look at the original xbox. Halo and other launch games set the standard for that generation. Halo blew away anything that the ps2 had out for the previous year and a half. And it was the new console...it was the console that didn't have over a year of games under its belt. So, bottom line is the ps3 should have had a few titles that did what halo did to the ps2 last gen. But nope. All their first party games have recieved "F's" and "D's"...with Resistance getting an average of 8 ish. Stop making excuses. Sony isn't a new video game company. And they made all the bold outlandish claims. Now they have to face the music. Its over. Thanks Microsoft.

P.S. Yes. That means that they had been developing games prior to Spring 2006. They wouldn't have said the system would launch in Spring if games wern't in developement. There is no excuse for Sony not having a Halo ish type of blockbuster game at launch. Its SONY folks. Once again...its never ever ever about first gen vs second gen. Its games vs games. Will ps3 games get better? Yes of course. Will 360 games get better? yes of course. If you take what Cliffy said about Gears of war only scratching the surface....its obvious that the best is yet to come. Will sony fans constantly live in the past? Will they constantly make excuses for games not comparing to the 360? All you have to do is reflect on the ps2 vs the xbox. The ps2 came out first. When the xbox launched a year and a half later...its first gen games spanked ps2's games in every way. WHY? How could MS do it as a new company against the biggest video game company of the last 11 years? HOW? That should tell you that there are no excuses to be made. Put up or shut up. Like Jay Z says..."show me what you got". So, yes...ps3 games will improve...but so will the 360 games. And right now...there is absolutely nothing that the ps3 has that even shows glimpses of what Gears of War shows. Gears of War doesn't kill another game for the ps3...it kills the system itself. It sets the bar so high...that I don't believe sony will ever catch up now. Thats my opinion from me playing every single ps3 launch game.

P.S.S The 1up comparissons prove that 85 to 90 percent of the people polled on each game believe that either A. the ps3 games don't look as good as the 360 games...thus the "what the cell is going on" statement. But, this is something I already knew with me having both systems.

Another thing...this is a News4gamers site. There is no rules saying that any gamer can't contribute to discussions on one side or another. Most people who own a 360 used to be a Nintendo fanboy or a Sony fanboy. So we are gamers who have grown up and evolved. We have opinions and views that should be heard. Me personally, I play the ps3 and the 360. I enjoy them both. When there are topics on comparissons I contribute what I know from my gameplay experience. That is what the site is about. Gamers will disagree...but I would rather disagree with someone on my level than a fanboy who has never tried a 360 or a ps3. Looking at screen shots and video's on the computer isn't the same as playing both systems. And I have to agree with MOST reviews. The 360 right now is clearly outperforming the ps3...Graphics and Frame rates are clearly better on the 360. Does that bother some of you? It shouldn't. Be a gamer and play games.

The PS3 is a monster to master (so it says). So was the PS2, am I right? Now we can see FFXII running on a 6(soon 7) year old hardware. Have you seen what that old fart can do now? Where the PS3 will shine is physics and number of objects displayed at once (with smooth framerates). That when they can utilize at least 3-4 of the six cores possible.

You doom the PS3 too soon. I cant believe we have seen the end, and I swear on that the PS3 will accelerate faster (since it's so new) than the XBox and eat its distance closer to the XB360 performance (UT2007 may top Gears?).

Let the baby learn how to walk and it will pass by the running 360. (fanboy comment of course).

FNR3 was a launch game for the 360, blazing angels is old, all the rest are multi-platform with the pos3 having extra dev time, if anything all should look better for the PS3 but only 1 does. You are the fanboy bud, you should be crying because your PS3 isn't ahead of the 360 at all, and in most games it is behind it in FRAMERATE, the most important part of the game FRAMERATE, the ps3 versions may look the same but believe me they don't RUN nearly as good as on the 360. Go read all of the gaming sites, the reviews are higher on the 360 because of higher framerate and online capabilities.

1. Pretty much all the games look better on the 360 version, this has been seen in person and as well in side by side screenshots, such as ridge racer, where it was blatantly obvious that many textures were lower quality, as well as many things like buildings had alot less shaders dedicatd to them and looked like ps2 versions.

2. Why is it people are saying "the ps3 just launched you cant compare that to the 360 thats been out a year"

Umm last i checked, most of these games were 360 launch titles, or early release titles, and the ps3 got an extra year of development time so they should be way better than the 360 counterparts but arent.

COD3 you cant say the team had more experience on the 360 becasue cod2 wasnt made by the same team as cod3... and guess what... beyond the fact that the game looks better on the 360, the framerate on the ps3 is ABYSMAL! Not to mention on the 360 version i can bring friends into online matches locally via splitscreen, not so with the ps3 its 1 local player only and it still hsa framerate issues.

3. Yes HD resolution videos let you nitpick the comparisons better but the fact is if 2 videos at the same resolution even if its low quality, show the ps3 severly trailing the 360, its kinda blatant that higher quality videos will just accentuate that issue.

4. People seem to keep making excuses that the ps3 is just a launch console... no it was supposed to be out a YEAR ago... so these games coming out now should have been on the market a YEAR AGO... The console was delayed yes... but what do you think the developers scrapped all their work and started over on the games ??? no the games got extra development time... much more than their 360 counterparts.

5. Brightness does not = better... yes a few of the ps3 games are brighter, the issue is that brightness shows off some nasty things, such as in a few games the ps3 not using full scale textures and using repeated crosshatch textures which are really obvious with the high brightness.

6. Resistence was supposed to be the big go-to game for the ps3, and with places rating it a 7-8 (except for ps and sony magz) the fact is resistence looks about on par with .... cod2 maybe cod3 and thats the extent of it.

7. Why is it gamers are ok with paying more for less???? Tony hawk and VirtuaTennis lost multiplayer (2 games that really really benefit from it), launch titles that cant compete with its competitors titles, a slow pc-ified store (come on a mouse for the store wtf)..

THE FACT: Sony claimed the world, just as they did with the ps2, they said it would wipe the floor with the 360 and be 2x as fast, yet general games like cod3 are lacking features and running like crap. People need to stop making excuses for sony, they once agian arent delivering on their promises, Fanboyism is just stupid and people need to stop it.

The 360 is more maturely developed, its cheaper, it has games that are equal or better than the ps3 version, and sorry to break it to you, their are more 360 exclusives people are really looking forward to than ps3 exclusives, i mean the ps3 was basically, FFXIII and MGS4 and maybe GT (then again if gt ends up like gt-hd i'd pass) now, there are some others but they arent really big name exclusives people are dieing for.

Microsofts has, Gears, Halo, Forza, alan wake, bioshock, mass effect just to name a few....

Then theirs Tony hawk and cod3 and virtuatennis and hell even assassin's creed that are all better on the 360, whether it be multiplayer at all, multiplayer features, or in AC's case better ai....

Why do people want a ps3 again besides "its sony"?? (btw forgot to mention, fatal inertia and battlestorm: hundred year war both jumped ship on the ps3... not to mention konami is pressuring mgs to go to the 360 as well LOL)
