Price not GTA IV to blame for slow PS3, 360 sales, says analyst

Gamepro report's: While interest, investment, and sales of Nintendo Wii are through the roof, outspoken analyst Michael Pachter says traditional games will still grow, though not as fast as mainstream ones.

"The market for next-gen games is not close to exhaustion," says Pachter, when asked how promising of a future the Xbox 360 and PS3 have in a post-Wii world. "As consoles come down in price, the manufacturers will sell more of them, and the market will continue to expand."

Wait! So..the lower the price...the more people will buy it?!
Poppy-c0ck I say. That's nothing short of prepostorous.

I'm going to go take a dump in an outhouse and turn it upside down while inside. That sounds logical enough. Much more logical than Patcher's sentiments.

4.1 - Well..
I can't stand pachter myself, but his comments are aimed towards the people who don't have a clue to what goes on in the gaming industry!

His points are aimed more towards keeping investors interested. No matter how diluted or illogical they may be. The worst part about the whole thing is... some people actually believe him!

Hey, give people free stuff with their purchase, and it'll sell more.

Am I an official analyst now, too? Is common sense the only requirement for the job?

7 - In All Honesty
The price of the consoles does not concern me but the price of the games. They keep becoming more expensive and far surpass the price of the console. Less than 2 years after launch I have at least 10 games for my PS3 meaning I've already surpassed the console price. The games are what hits my wallet hard not the consoles.

8 - well well well... So let me get this straight, you mean...
The fact that it's expensive might cause a lot of people not to buy it... wow, go figure..

So that's why I never bought that Porsche I always wanted...

(it's a good thing this guy came around because I would have never figured this out...So just so where clear, the more something cost the less likely it will be bought by everyone...) -wow amazing in-sight.

This guy is a genius...

I hope his firm is hiring. I think most of us on this site have more accurate predictions than Mikey. Nice avatar.

Blame the slow economy in the U.S. and the rising cost of fuel for the slow sales.

10.1 - In all honesty
The price of fuel is effecting EVERYTHING.

It's causing a serious domino effect all over the country. Airplane tickets are costing more. Daily grocery prices are going up because it costs more to transport them to stores now.

To be honest, our economy might end up being worse than Japan's at the rate we're going.

12 - lol,
and he wasn't even being sarcastic, damm who pays this guy and why do they keep interviewing him?....laugh all you want but I swear I could make better predictions, as a matter of fact I predict that one of the games with a high meta score will be GOTY.
