Videogamer: Gears of War 2 First Look Preview

Videogamer writes: "Epic mega dude Cliff Bleszinski has revealed brand new Gears of War 2 multiplayer details to US site 1UP, which aim to address some of players' bug bears with the first game.

However, Epic won't be implementing clan support, a move which will disappoint many fans. The developer is instead concentrating on providing a "rich party system".

Chief among the Gears of War 2 online hit list is eliminating host advantage. To do this Epic will be offloading the voice server from the host to other servers. Bleszinski told 1UP: 'Host advantage is something we're very much concerned about. We want to bring the performance of everybody else across the board that much higher as far as network optimisation so everybody has a far more consistent experience.'"

just keeps lookin better and better....loved all the new vids that came out yesterday....looks like this is going to be a tight GOTY race with mgs4,gears of war 2...and possible gta4...cant wait to get my hands on this one!

by stating: "no clan support", what do they mean? please don't tell me they are going to do like DICE did with Battlefield BC that doesnt support private matches...Gears online is all about clan matches

So they aren't eliminating host advantage? Just making it less prone by moving the chat to another server? How about moving the GAMES to a dedicated server? Sony does this with their top games. Until they move everything to dedicated, there will still be host advantage.

thank you for clarifying what voice server meant i thought it was a technical term not the actual voices being broadcast on live. bubbles

i also agree with you, i think its pretty cheap on their part they know it will sell well why not spring for dedicated servers and reward the fanbase's loyalty?

i was planning on getting this game but if the online continues to have the type of host advantage and for such a small number of players i just wont be able to justify a purchase.
