Orange Box petition: EA replies and says NO to a patch

With nearly 2000 signatures and over 15000 visits, the Orange Box petition seems to be coming to an end. Mike Seedon, the guy handling the petition, knows something for sure: EA will never ever bring a patch.

At EA support, employee John D has replied:

"Honestly, EA will not create the patches. EA did not engineer/program the game. Valve did."

Interesting that Valve claimed that EA did the port and now EA are blaming Valve. Either way, PS3 owners got a raw deal and someone isn't coming clean.

Those who spent their money or were looking forward to this care. Just because you dont doesnt mean somebody else isnt effected. EA should be forced to patch this since they weren't shy on releasing it for money. EA have become such a joke. If something you purchased is broken by law it has to be replaced refunded. This case should be no different. This shouldnt have been released if this was going to be the result.

I realize that people paid money. I feel really bad for them... seriously. This was a good game and ps3 owners should have had an equal opportunity to play this game properly....

But the fact remains, Valve hates the ps3... They are lazy and its a shame cause I really used to like them. Maybe when Gabe explodes, they will show PS3 some love. But instead they passed it to EA, which was probably the WORST choice at the time.

BUYER BEWARE ---- Do some educated shopping on your consumer needs before you spend money. This game was labeled a turd and all red flags were flying high. People still bought it in hopes of a patch or PS Bias... but now they have an unpatched turd. Valve sucks and EA does too. Both these companies need to snap out of it.

This is one more reason why people should buy multi plat games on the 360 instead of the PS3 if they have both consoles.. If this was the case on the 360, this would've been fixed a long time ago! EA is M$ biatch!

2 - yeah i sold my orange box about a week after i bought it..
i bought it to play episode 1 and 2 since i really enjoyed the half life franchise, but if i died it would take about 45 seconds for me to respawn, and it just got extremely aggravating.. at some points it would freeze my ps3 completely so yeah that's too bad.

calm down. its disappointing that both companies keep passing the buck and neither of them are willing to do anything for the consumer.

i have sold my copy of OB back to my local gamestation and will pick up again for PC if i miss it, but to be honest i'm not really a huge fan of TFC.

i'm pretty disgusted with both EA and valve though and after dropping close to 300 quid on the HL series alone (mainly for pc) i feel pretty hard done by. EA dont seem to get that PC gamers are often console gamers and vice versa.

Well that was easy. When you think about it, why would EA want to, in their eyes, waist time on a version of a game that they didn't want to waist there time with in the first place?

EA most likely would have said no even if all Ps3 users signed that potition.

What people should do is go to EA and say we are willing to pay for the patch. That will get their attention.

Dont know what all the fuss is about,it's not that bad of a port ive only had a bit of slow down in episodes 1 and 2.I do agree that if EA ports a game there responsible to fix it.You dont release an half ass game and expect people to lay down there hard earned cash for it and not fix any problems that suffice,there quick enough to release there games in the state there in so they should fix them.One last thing EA are a money grabbing whores who can occasionaly release a gem of a game and I mean occasional.

its EA, they are involved in some way with the game and this is their standard MO. you buy game, find out of game majorly buggy, EA doesn't care they already have your money, rinse lather repeat. they do this with nearly every game their involved in as the developer or publisher so this shouldn't surprise anybody.

funny, im sure most of the gaming community has been saying the exact same thing for years, yet people insist on buying their crap, then comlaining that it isnt good. If a game is broke, you dont play it. you dont call up the publisher, crying because it sucks. The mentality amazes me. Your effectively saying "your product is crap, but i am a very sad and lonely individual and the only thing i have in my life is your crappy game so please make it better".

You want a chunky over rated 1st person shooter with lousy graphics and animations and squarer environments than anything running UE3??? Go and play timeshift. Atleast it tries to do something new.

EA is just playing the blame game. Obviously EA ported it and they should be patching it. I don't see a "developer please create a patch for my game" for the 360 or PC vesion of the game.

Overall, I think the PC and the 360 version don't have nearly as many issues. I say we boycott EA games. Badly managed and greedy companies like EA only listens to money. Hit them were it hurts!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong about the PC/360 version though....

Mine seems to work okay.

I'm not saying there isn't the odd slowdown or drop in framerate, and I fully realize the other versions run smoother, but people talk about this game as if its completely broken or unplayable, which isn't the case with my copy.

Regardless, both Valve and EA are rubbish arrogant companies, and I'm starting to hate them both. The fact that EA now controlls BioWare has me completely worried....
