Microsoft NZ predicts Too Human will out-sell Ninja Gaiden 2

Geekpulp writes "Two exclusive titles to be released with in the space of three (possibly two) months of each other, the close timing of each release means that the sale of one can potentially canabilize the market of the other. Product Marketing Manager for Xbox, Tom Hunt, believes that Ninja Gaiden 2 will be out sold by Too Human."

Remember,this game is the first in a planned Trilogy,if the first 1 fails to get overall good scores and sales,then it's highly unlikely that Microsoft will invest much into the marketing of the second,and the same applies to the third.

I'm still playing NG2. I bought MGS4 on launch day. It has not come out of the case yet because I'm not done with NG2 yet. I am sure that I will be amazed with MGS4 but right now I'm still amazed with NG2.

I have NGII and I'm really enjoying it. The combat system is one of the better systems I've toggled with. However the story isn't that amazing. I wouldn't sleep on NGII its a very good game. I can't speak for too human just yet.

NG2 was a fine title, but it didn't make the changes it needed to broaden its appeal to reach beyond the core gamer.

Too Human on the other hand, has the potential to appeal to many more people, so if its as good as we all hope it is, I'm sure it will sell more!

Agreed NG2 is a great game but it has a very narrow niche audience that is firmly hardcore. It also comes from in my opinion a second tier developer.

On the other hand. Too Human appears to cater to a much broader audience, allowing players to use the different classes and skills to focus or mix up different game types such as third person shooting, combo building, hack and slash, RPG, co-op, and collectible hunting. On top of that it actually has a story (as opposed to NG2) that appears to have significant depth and is from in my opinion a top tier developer that's renowned for intricate, branching narratives and deep, innovative gameplay. Whilst they've only had a few years on the engine, they've had near a decade to develop the story, game mechanics and D&D balancing. Add the formidable MS marketing machine and the fact they've already signed off on the trilogy before release, and this has surprise hit written all over it.

12 - Too Human is new..

With Ninja Gaiden you know what you are about to get. The decision comes down to whether or not you want that experience. NG2 is market as a hard serious gamers game. Too Human may be just as hard but we dont know. There are a lot of factors that go into how to make a game sell. If NG2 sells less than they want its because of marketing and promotion, the game is super, it delivers what its suppose to. Too Human is being marketed in a way that makes it stand out, the potential factor plays a big part in what is going to happen. Ninja Gaden 2 is just what I was looking for. I'm thinking Too Human will be the same. So yeah the chances of Too Human outselling NG2 are about 87%.

but that's not microsofts fault.

It's obvious that the game has suffered from the tecmo vs itagaki debacle. However the fighting and gameplay mechanics are still as visceral as ever, I just wish it wasn't so linear.

it's a great game.

As for too human, silicon knights have yet to make a bad game, and this title isn't getting as much notice as it deserves IMO.

I can't wait for too human.

Yeh... no offense but NG2 wasn't a hard one to outsell anyways. It's for a specific audience of people and it wasn't hyped enough at all. I only saw a few commericals and they didn't really show the awesomeness of NG2. Either way, this is an obvious statement because Too Humans fanbase is just higher. NG2 isn't selling very well since it caters to the hardcore-people who can keep themselves from going batsh*t insane from the difficulty. I don't see how they could say that Too Human will sell more than NG2. Too Human depends on what scores it'll receive and how good the game looks/plays.
