Nintendo and Sony get caught in Microsoft's Xbox360 Mousetrap

Some good old-fashioned marketing and one heck of a bundle deal could prove to be the shot of adrenaline that the Xbox 360 needed to boost its system sales here in North America.

Bill Gates told the world about six months ago that Halo 3 would be released day and date with the PlayStation 3, but that proved to be more of a smoke screen than a promise.

Retailers and analysts across North America confirm that the hottest selling gaming console this past weekend was the Xbox 360.

Its almost a half million 360's sold on nextgenwars.

But, that site is not completely accurate by their own admission.

Todd Mowatt, the writer of the article, has written other articles about the PS3, and I believe Wii, that really arent Pro-MS.

Im a gamer, I dont care who 'wins' this fictional war. I just thought it was interesting that - even with year old tech and going against all the glitter that is a console launch - MS's 360 did well more then hold its own.

i do admit i'm biased to 360 (gears of war is eating up too much of my time) but i'll wait for microsoft's fiscal report before jumping to any conclusions...

their walkmans suck too! They are actually good tech but the software for them is HORRIBLE plus they are all about the DRM protection which means lots of songs you pull off the internet won't play on them.

12 - Look its a very simple thing...

X-mas is coming. Mom & Dad are shopping for the kids game consoles and are looking to get the most bang for their buck for a great Christmas gift. They are not going to stand in line for a Wii or a PS3. They come into the store..see a kiosk running a great looking game for the 360, then see they actually have 360's in stock, and then they see a great bundle and compare the price to those other consoles. Side by side...the 360 is a really impressive bundle right now. Think it through...even comparing the Wii...$259 you get the Wii with ok graphics and some preloaded games that dont wow you when you look at it. Then you look at 360 and its core at $299 and its hard to not think the extra $50 is worth it. Now I know its apples to oranges...but in the minds of mom & dad...MS just might be winning them over against the Wii. I won't even talk about the PS3 comparison because well..there are no PS3's in sight. And Mom & Dad are not going to take a rain check slip to put under the tree since its very likely they won't get one in 2006.

14 - I'll never buy a 360

I don't need to my PC offers the same games with mod-ability and better performance. The PS3 is the only real choice for me. I'll just wait for all the bugs to be worked out. Plus I enjoy the Sony exclusives like MGS, FF, and Killzone. Whe cares if they are sequels. People buy those games because they love the established characters and stories. Like people aren't going to buy Halo3 and HaloWars...etc.

15.1 - Actualy, I'll bet money that MGS4 and DMC4 will both come to the Xbox 360.

The FF games are burn't out, nothing new. Halo 3 and Halo Wars will break new records in gaming sales. Mod ability on your PC cost big money, which most don't have and better performance, I think not, not even close unless you plan on buying a $3,000.00 PC.
