This is still relevant gaming news. Besides, what about the GTA IV reviews that are still trickling in? You don't see those causing complaints...

1.1 - It`s Natural that....
It would happen.

Anytime anyone "fenes out" on any 360 game, you elevate your chances of RROD. It`s hard for the 360 to handle 6-7 plus, hours a day.

...Too many hours of a Hi-demanding game take the X360 to the limits quickly. Expect more dead X360, and more protests as December get near (when the first batch of consoles lose warranty)

No probs here playing from Friday eve to Sunday, 30+ hours of play with the console staying on for the entire 55+ hours..

But I thought it was a heat buildup with lower voltage countries.. There is a formula somewhere on the net..

My 360 has been on since Sunday, it still is. I'm going out now and have left it downloading The Brave One in HD.

Also the simple fact is, this is nonsense. I know of not one single person that has had problems with GTA4 on the 360.

Forums should be taken with a grain of salt. As I could go to the same forum and start a thread about how Robert Mugabe loves playing Haze Co-op with Phil Harrison. Complete Bullshit yet so many would beleive it.

That`s great, but the point remains....360s overheat and get RROD. That comes w/ the system being on for long hours. So what ever your trying to say is irrelevant.

GeoW did it to ALOT of 360s, HALO3 did it to ALOT of 360s, GeoW2 will do it to ALOt of 360s. Don`t take it personal, that`s what happens when a system has hardware problems.

i know people who've had a few consoles, but then i know plenty who haven't. doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist because it clearly does.

although, my first premium, over two years old and still going strong. has seen more than a few 14+hour gaming sessions without respite! same with the friends who have indulged in those sessions aswell. my elite has done a few 6+ hour gta sessions aswell. and the other day did a 10hour gear day aswell.

RROD and GTA IV have nothing to do with each other. Like the tons of rabid Sony fans have pointed out in this thread playing long sessions on 360 models prone to RROD and you'll get RROD no matter what game you're playing. Everyone knows RROD is a huge problem posting these flamebait "articles" over and over so Sony fans can feel superior is stupid. I'm happy with both my PS3 and 360 because of the games. I'll deal with possible RROD in order to play the games I want to play.

As far software lock ups... we all know the PS3 has far more problems. So you one console Sony zealots need to slow your roll in this department.

GTA IV is by far the best open world game EVER CREATED. There is no question. The haters just let the hype blow their expectations out of proportions. That's their fault. No game walks on water and cures cancer...

"Unlike the issues ALL gamers will experience in MGS4 "

What does that mean? Are you implying that PS3s have some sort of hardware issues? B/c at less than 3% failure rate, you can hardly say there is any issue there. Or are you saying that MGS4 itself has issues? A game that is probably going to be one of the highest scored games in history?

It is a myth that the 360's motherboard and its chips get hotter the longer the system is played continuously. The 360's motherboard and its enclosure should reach its average operating temperature rather quickly, less than 10 minutes after the machine is turned on. This average temperature will be fairly constant for the duration of the game session, spiking occasionally during heavy load scenes.

Think of this as turning on your baking oven. It takes several minutes for a typical oven to reach its intended temperature. Once that temperature is reached, it stays there. The only to increase the oven temperatur is to dial up the knob.

In the case of our videogames system, the most common way sudden heat spike occurs are 1) during heavy-load scenes (like dialing up the knob) 2) hotter room temperature 3) failure of heat dissipation components (fans, heat sinks, etc..). In no way leaving the system on or playing for extended period of time causes the systems to overheat.

got the red ring within the first day of playing (it was on for 13 hours..), so i sent it in the next day and bought the PS3 version. Ill nab the 360 version again when DLC comes out if its any good.

Stop commenting that their is no problems. My frickin PS3 and 360 both broke because of the game and both started right after the first date which is only about ten minutes into the game.

And holy F****** S*** help out your fellow gamers so they can get refunds for the consoles. I have to pay about 300$ to get of my consoles fixed. Stop being selfish 360 and PS3 fanboys and admit their is a problem. Help someone out you D-****!

Lastly your precious rockstar, sony, and microsoft have all admited to me their is a problem after I submitted a complaint to the better business beau or however you spell it. I might even show the prow if you stop being such idiots about this. I hate fanboys!

Is the gaming community that desperate for news that this craps has to be rehashed.

I haven't played it in weeks. A major let down on an epic scale that only saw 1 good come to the world of gaming. That being it showed every hardcore gamer the true face of the review sites and how bias and corrupt they are.

Gta 4 was lavished with 10's and unanimous praise as being the best game ever basically when it was loaded with

Slowdown
Pop up
muddy textures
poor controls
poor online aspects
lack of depth
lack of inovation

Gta4 is actually 2 steps back down from where we were with GTASA and that's sad. The only good that came from gta4 is, again, it showed how broken review sites are and how gamers and consumers need to stop listening to them.

I finished GTAIV with quite the empty feeling because I got both endings and I was let down from what the reviews were touting to say the least. Despite what the reviews would have you believe, achieving that didn't require a complete second playthrough either just utilizing 2 save files. Afterwards I went back and started San Andreas again and DAMN, GTAIV has the feature set of GTAIII in comparison and oddly missing Rampages.

I don't know what happened in their "streamlining" process, but they took all of the mission variety and the fun of the open world with it. A lot of the amusement in SA for me came from the fact that your character was a work in progress, he has stats and over time grows and becomes more effective in all aspects of the game.

You could play SA for hours before actually doing the first mission just for raising CJ's stats and money for properties alone. Part of that was me breaking off from the main storyline to do any of the countless activities that would have a positive effect somehow.

It appeared as if they took a large amount of that away in GTAIV and replaced it with the TV and the Internet. Deep as they are, I grew tired of them quickly as the shows started to repeat sometimes constantly back to back and the stuff I actually wanted to watch (did America's Next Top Hooker EVER come on?) didn't show that I was aware of.

Let's not forget the mission variety, I was still in my "OMG GTA4!!" haze until I got off of the first island, then everything started to seem more and more familiar. Then it was to the point that every mission that happened, had already occurred in the game somehow or in the past games but better.

An example would be arguably the most memorable mission of the game, the bank robbery. It was pretty cool on its own until I remembered "uh I did a heist in San Andreas didn't I?" Then I started to think "wait, the heist in SA was way more involved and detailed than this". It was actually around 5 missions that were integral in pulling off the heist.

Grabbing the blueprints, tailing that BDSM freak chick for the card, knocking out the city's power source, grabbing an armored truck, getting a sky crane for the armored truck, and finally the heist. I wouldn't have even had to think about it if the hype wasn't built up so much that had me expecting more.

I mean I read some things saying the game was the pinnacle of the open world genre, how so when they cut things out from the prior games? I knew they were trying to streamline some things from their last game, but I thought they would take a page from Rockstar Vancouver and go the Bully route. That was another beast that in a lot of ways in enjoyed more than SA, and the world was still a bit more compelling than the new Liberty City.

A game that got as many perfect scores as it did, I was expecting more than the 30 something "go here, kill this guy, call me when you're done" missions. IV was a step back to me, so I guess here's looking to whatever GTA4 sub game they come out with next that puts everything back to where it should be.

3.6 - WAAAAAH!
You're obviously totally biased. You mention game reviews so you're obviously somehow hurt that your master MGS4 has gotten worse reviews that GTA IV.

Also you obviously didn't play very far into GTA IV or you would know a lot of your complains are baseless regurgitated talking points put out by GTA IV haters that also never played the game.

You're a bandwagon hater nothing more. You never were a GTA fan or you wouldn't continue to spread FUD about the best open world game ever created. You're probably one of those delusional whiners that thinks open world GTA IV should look better than close linear COD4.

He's right dude, it was lavished with 10s which would make one think that this game is going to be the best GTA ever. Then when you play it, it's a stripped down version of the games before it and that's a damn fact that can't be disputed. Seriously go pair it up with the past games and outside of the requisite graphical upgrade (which I'm not counting), the television, internet, and the cell phone, the other games have more gameplay mechanics in place.

After you get to the halfway point in Algonquin it just becomes Mafia Errand Auto, which is something I thought they'd have gotten away from already seeing as how EVERY GTA after III somehow takes a turn that way (except I haven't finished Vice City Stories yet).

The first 3rd of the game is stellar, until you realize that the emperor's clothes are fading quickly.

@ Jack-You seriously need to calm down. For one thing this is not about MGS4, this is about GTA so there is no reason to flame a completely different game in an entirely different genre. If you were comparing lets say Saints Row or any other sand box game then you could have some merit in your post.

@ Xakep- I completely agree with you regarding the lackluster mission structure and complete lack of things to do. Every mission on foot can be done with a well placed sniper rifle or grenade. Every car chase mission is incredibly easy once you have free aim down, shoot the tires then the gas tank, repeat, rinse. Even the horrible London:1969 version seems to have more variety. Yes the bowling, darts, TV, ect.. are a fun distraction but one can only take so many pigeons and unique jumps. I miss the rampages, house purchases, planes, the army. I still don't understand why they kept planes out, it seems to me that the area was plenty big enough for at least a single propeller, but i digress. Also, to me the humor seems to have gone away in my opinion, except for Brucie :). Now i know i am going to get disagrees for this statement but oh well. I do think the city itself is graphically impressive, the immersion is incredible, but I sure do miss the old color palette. It seemed more cheerful for all the horrible things you do. I will leave you all on a final note: R* can we please get some seat belts!!!

Edit: Just to let you know I am no hater in any way shape or form. I love GTA. I have completed everyone created to 100% and this is the first one that I really dont feel the need to finish all the way. Also this is the only GTA I have not been arrested once in, the cops are way to easy. To me SA takes the cake on gameplay, and Vice City takes the story line.

But don't take this as me saying the game is any good. It's great. While I was playing I kept wanting it to be GTASA with better graphics. But after beating it I finally have a hole lot of respect for the game. The ending of this game was one of the most emotional videogame endings I've seen. I was totally immersed in everything that was going, and I was completely satisfied with the ending. But Rockstar has yet to top the awesomeness that is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

4 - The numerous problems on BOTH systems shows that it's Rockstar's fault that this is happening
It's not just the architecture of the PS3 or the 360, but it's the game programming itself that is conflicting with the console's cache. All individual system complaints/flaming aside, this is a rather unfortunate epidemic that gamers are having to deal with.

This is what sucks about consoles becoming more and more similar to the PC environment they are mimicing.

I haven't run into one issue with my 60g PS3 but a friend of mine had issues with his 60g PS3 version of GTAIV. The irony is he got his 60g from the same exact batch that I got mine from. He was behind me in line when we picked them both up.

The absolute only differences is we got the game at different locations (different states) and he is using wifi and I am wired to PSN. So it is either the copy of the game (a bad batch) or it has something to do with online (maybe a router issue or something). Who knows. I am just speculating of course.
