First Halo 3 Screenshots

You might recognize some of these from the recent EGM cover story, but many of them are brand new. Also these are in hi-res digital format so they give a much better impression than the scans that were posted a few weeks back. The screens were first published (or leaked?) by German game site GameCity but Bungie will probably make these public soon. Untill then you can check them out in the story image section below.

Note: According to Bungie the screens are taken from an early alpha build with lots of placeholder graphics and without all graphical effects turned on. But they should still give a good indication of the graphical style of Halo 3.

I actually agree with you but you have to know that this is alpha. This is just the early build of the game and shouldn't gameplay come before graphics. If they can reach the quality of their initial trailer i'm sure that this game will look incredible. I have heard before that the trailer was also missing some graphical touches that would be implemented in the final game. I'm betting you that killzone doesn't look too hott right now either. Anyways, I can't wait to play that beta.

5.1 - uh xbox police is in full efffect, somebody was busted for having an opinion!

That said I think it looks great so far, especially pics 1,2 & 4. I hope it feels more like Halo:CE than Halo 2 in terms of gameplay.

7 - I think i can see a pic of the new 'nail greanade'!

In the first pic, if you look at the high res version, theres a thing that looks like a bug. But if you look closer, theres like a smokey trail to the right of it, and there are suspicious spikes coming out of it, and a stick at the bottom (which would be held). The red guy on the far right must've thrown it, or else why would he be standin there looking at it mid battle?

It would be difficult to reach the graphic fidelity of Gears in a FPS like Halo. There would be too many trade-offs resource-wise (unless you want to stick to 4v4)

Regardless, Halo 3 is going to be stunning in its own right.

I'm going to agree with the Mart on this one. Have any of the games you mentioned made $125,000,000 in one day? I didn't think so. I'm not saying that those games won't be big sellers, but it will be nowhere close to Halo 3. I'm sure that it will surpass the Halo 2 mark in terms of money and copies.

The fact that A spec outsold the one after it is funny to me A spec was crap and GT4 was amazing. which leads me to say if 45 million idiots buy oceanfront property in Arizona does that mean they are right or that they are still idiots? Quoting sales numbers is the same as saying that since Home Alone 1 made more money that the Godfather 1 or 2 (the movies not the crap EA products) combined it must surely be a finer example of cinematic expression and technical expertise? Remember this no matter what your always looking up at Pokemon and Mario... and I think most people here would rather be playing MGS or Halo not Mario or Pokemon.

also Grand Theft Auto is not a PS exclusive title the xbox has all of them also now. Try reading a newspaper. You should have quoted FF which is like the #3 series seller.

Also... Quoting sales is what big business companies like EA and Square, and Activision do. That is why we have crappy Cabellas Fishing and Hunting version 17, crap games like Godfather, FF MCMXVII, and other such garbage. The fact that they make a million sequeals and they sell leaded to serialization of pulp themes. Just add some new paint, and a altered story and presto the next one is out. I appluad MGS and Halo and companies that try to make something from a series of games that interconnects them. A grander Scheme. I dont applaud the fact that EA puts out minor upgrade after minor upgrade on a yearly basis and sells a new experiance. Hello Need For Speed: Carbon? what will it be next Year Nitrous? then Supercharged? then Exotic then what? Make a game that will last a little longer than the amount of time it takes to beat it. TD: Unlimited is a pretty good example. They can add content to the game world that they created through microtranactions. This is the model I hope that catches on not the you want $50,000 pay us $5 to unlock it in the game. You want to access the 5 courses in Tiger Woods, pay us $10 to unlock them so you dont have to play. That is complete equine defication.

but to me halo was never about the graphics. its all about gameplay, physics, and story. to me thats what made me want to play it over and over. ive played halo ce campaign far more than halo 2 and i would rather play system link on halo ce than live on halo 2. i was excited to hear that they wanted to build this game around gamers feedback. graphically it should be good, but as far as gameplay, multiplayer, etc. it will be perfect.

look amazing. Just like the trailer in my opinion. When these pictures were first released I was disappointed, much like the ps3, that the graphics weren't a hugh leap forward from what's available now. But once it was mentioned that these were only alpha screen shots, basically hi res halo 2 graphics, then I felt alot better. I think bungie released these screens not just to combat the ps3 but to also milk the halo fan boys who simply can't wait till they get further along in its developement. Its good but at the same time haters and even fan boys are left underwhelmed and really to start b!tching about how the graphics suck and how GOW looks better or Killzone will look better. I personally think that GOW like graphics or better can be done in a game like halo. H3ll I hope so.

Halo IS overhyped. Yeah, it's a good fps, but honestly...with good FPS's ACTUALLY coming to the consoles...HALO IS DEAD! We get Unreal, FarCry, Half-Life, Doom, Wolfenstein, AVP, and Counterstrike...

Now...WHO THE FRICK is gonna say Halo is better than Unreal...cuz i'm waiting to PUNCH THAT GUY. It's just that the PC, while not the most popular gaming device anymore, has always had the best FPS's.

Now, the consoles are getting them, cuz PC gaming is dying out. Halo just got out there first. It wasn't that good. No one else actually TRIED to make a good FPS on the freakin' consoles. Don't even say Killzone...cuz guerrilla isn't that good. However, i DO BELIEVE we'll all have played resistance by this time tomorrow...and...believe me...THAT'S THE "halo-killer"...
