Devil May Cry Creator Doesn't See 3D Action Game Evolution - Kotaku

Kotaku reports:

3D action games haven't evolved? Hideki Kamiya, the brains behind defining 3D action game Devil May Cry doesn't really seem to think so! Over on the official Bayonetta site, Kamiya blogs:

"How have 3D action games evolved since we blazed a new trail with DMC? Can you even go so far as to say they've evolved?

Seven years ago, we put everything we had into Devil May Cry. But since then, like the hands of time for the 3D action genre were frozen at that moment, it seems like the drive to push users further has stopped. There is so much more that should be done now. And we are the only ones who seem up to the task. This is the spark that has lit the fire within me."

Ah, don't you love it when game creators have fires in their bellies? Way more uplifting than when they're burnt out and crazy. Also in his post, Kamiya says to believe him and Platinum Games that the upcoming Bayonetta "will be worth the wait". Alrighty, then.

1.1 - God Of War 3

Will destroy everything.

IMO, GOW has completely taken over the 3D action genre, and will most likely continue to do so w/ God Of War 3. It`s more INTENSE than any other game. It will be hard for devs to match/exceed the "FEELING" God Of War gives off every second.

can he say this when, DMC4 was underwhelming (to say the least) how creative lets make a sequel with a star character, that isnt our last games star character, but looks,dresses,and fights just like him...

5 - That's Exactly why the Castlevania Series has done Poorly with the 3-D

I wish they could make a 2-D version, maybe with some 3-D elements and bring it back to the Symphony of The Night Days...

2-D game still rock, but are now seen as a risk because developers are suppose to be taking advantage of these technological 3-D platforms, when all that should matter is playing a fun game, not so much it's technical feats.

I actually thought DMC was an extension of the CS series where it failed to deliver.

9 - How!?

How is DMC4 disappointing? Everything about that game was polished and amazing. I guess you guys must be UBER DMC FANS who finished DMC3 on all difficulties and got 99999 orbs, and unlocked every single possible thing. DMC4 was a ridiculously cool game with high production values and it was the next gen DMC game that most people were expecting. Capcom tried to make it more interesting by putting the DB and IR system, and giving you 2 VERY DIFFERENT characters to play as. What the hell else do you want, Dante to come out of your TV and say something stupid like "JACKPOT" or shake your hand. IMO DMC4 blows away any game I've ever played. God of War 1/2 is a great series, but during my playthrough of GoW2 i was getting bored, because the combat was really boring, it's just a button masher, say what you will, but it is. I really hope they make the combat system more like DMC4 for god of war 3. Also, Ninja Gaiden Sigma has to be my next favourite game. As far as bayonetta goes, I don't see how anyone can say it will be good, we haven't seen anything resembling gameplay, but hopefully it has gunplay + hand to hand combat + some special element to revolutionize the 3D action genre.

DMC4 was a solid title. Nothing amazing. They continued where they left off in DMC3. DMC4 is just missing the "wow" factor.

So far from Bayonetta I've deduced that you'll be able to shoot people from the guns attached to your heels. If they remain attached or if you can detach them I don't know but all sorts of awesome acrobatic combat techniques are flowing through my head.

11 - God of War & Too Human

I honestly think this little battle will be between God of War and Too Human. I cant even imagine what GOW3 will be like. That game has some of the highest production values i have ever seen. Enen as a PS2 game. And Too Human is looking to be a pretty good game also. I wanna see how those will turn out.
