we know that
what's left now is to find out what it is and how to stop it or maybe even protect ourselves from it
let me take a guess at what they are gonna do, Fifa 09 will have manditory roster updates that require micropayments
Burnout unlocking new cars will cost $5 a piece.
Or maybe even forcing developers to make games every 6 months
those damn EA bastards

4.2 - I'll ignore reality so I can be irrational online
Hey, I know it's cool to bash EA without any facts because it makes you popular online with your "friends" but here's a dose of reality for you.
You say that EA will charge $5 to unlock Burnout Paradise cars. The reality is that Criterion Games has already released the first of four FREE updates (not patches) to Paradise.
In total, the updates will add a new island to drive, more vehicles, motorcycles, new game modes, and night driving. All of this is free.
http://www.criteriongames.c...
This is of course, just good news for gamers and it's from EA, so it's not the type of stuff that makes for sexy comments.
So alright, let the EA bashing continue because let's face it, you want to look cool online.
And no I don't work for Criterion.

you see, Criterion have released free cars not EA, they put their foot down and said we're giving free updates EA. BTW i said next burnout they cant iniate an evil plan yet, you already have all the cars ;)
Now EA is their publisher but losing Criterion would be bad and they know the burnout games are going to go downhill without Criterion.
You should thank the devs for the free updates and DLC because most of the Publishers tell them to charge for it.
If it were a little studio, they would be screwed and would HAVE to listen to their publisher.
If they are worth money and know that they an create great games that the publisher needs then can say something about it.
All in all i agree(rather than just blantly disagreeing with my joke) with you, but past experiences have put me against EA, not necassarily the greed but the crap games i spent my money on only to find out its no different than the last game or they killed a game
EA has some great games, Fifa 08 (PES was better before this game) Burnout, Guitar hero and Rock Band, There are probably way more games i can't think of right now.

or maybe(most probably) EA has invented some evil way to make it seem like something is free and some how rip of our money from it
"your free DLC,
just enter credit card info for confirmation
don't worry, your credit card information is safe
you wont have to spend a cent
because all your money is in our hands now"

2 - It makes sense to have the DLC for free
I really don't think this game has a strong online community. Most people I know who played this game didn't care for it. If you charge for online content only the hardcore fanatics will pay for it. This will create a rift between the few fans of this game and people just picking it up to give it a chance. New players won't want to play a game if they don't have all the content.
On the other hand, free DLC might persuade more people to pick this game up.
And really, people need to stop bashing EA. When you bash EA, you bash Mass Effect, Bioshock, the Orange Box and a dozen other titles you didn't know whos devs were owned by EA. EA is more than the sum of its parts. It's the sum of all the Devs its been snatching up.
