XboxOZ360 reveals the official news update of Epic and Microsoft's Gears of War 2:

What is it with some people in here, do you know what a Press Release IS . . It's a media approved release given to the "Press" to make public facts about the game they (Publishers/Developers) are trying to sell . . .

Hence it being called a "PRESS RELEASE"

It seems one has to make sure one posts things in here when everyone is asleep or when the clowns are asleep at least. We posted two articles under NEWS within the last 18 hours in the exact same Press release format without a single complaint or report, they were approved within a few hours and have gained some favourable (and that's how 'we' spell favourable btw) coverage . . try reading the headings sometimes . . It's the May Update for Gears Of War.

this makes it irrelevant.

companies send out a lot of press releases, most of them totally worthless, that is why N4G is not full of irrelevant press releases.

Perhaps so, but it does have 4 newly release screens that were only released on Friday, and it is marked a May Update, nothing more. It does differ from previous releases, so warranted being posted.

If it fails, fair enough, but there's a distinct difference to the readership in here from day to night readers . . . we also got 2 vids from Epic/MGS THIS Friday, but we have yet to reduce them so they can fit on our servers unfortunately (we can't do HD at the moment), but hopefully they'll be up within the hour . . but I suppose they'll be of no value either . . ?

It's fine for you to put the information on your site, but what you have to understand is the N4G community site is different, it is not for every press release and redundant opinion pieces and the like to get submitted, only the most interesting, new and relevant news.

Those 3 newly released screens aren't new at all, they were submitted before, if those 2 videos are the two already released, then of course it's of no value. If they haven't already been submitted to N4G through gametrailers.com or some other site then it is of value.

It's a thing called DUPLICATE STORY. Just because it's 'sort-of' new does not allow it to be on N4G.

I have honestly taken you valid comments into consideration, but there are times (sorry for the 'but' btw) when we have actually submitted NEW news that NO ONE ELSE had, yet we got a duplicate failure.

I was the only one given approval by MS and the company to cover a Live event, take pics and do an article only hours later, yet we got knocked back because no one bothered to read that it was a Live report and exclusive, and NOT a duplicate, but that it was simply 360 related - unfortunately.

How could it be a duplicate if we were the ONLY ONES covering it.

See the problem . . . some see part of a heading and assume it's a repeat or duplicate without even checking it out properly.

And yes, I do see your point about every press release, we try and get things up as soon as possible, but some within the industry definitely do NOT stick to their NDA's they have signed . . which we refuse to break, simply as a matter of principle.

Gears is sounding pretty great right about now. Even more great if this 4 player co-op talk turns out being true. Halo 3 made me really appreciate 4 player co-op, and i believe any AAA shooter should have it. Maybe by next gen it will become standard.

I am more impressed by the chainsaw duels more then the rest (online multiplayer wise) Its gonna add some fun and serious complication to the online matches. Also using a downed apponent as a human/locust shield is gonna be great online. I think the gameplay will speak for itself one this one comes out.

What A Load Of Garbage. You seem to think that your some kind of super journo offering the big scoop, but this news is OLD.

It's the same stuff that's been all over the net since Cliffy hosted the gameplay trailer. If you're going to regurgitate the MS press release, then at least do it quickly. It might also be a good idea to headline the article more honestly, as in "MS Gears of War Press Release".

I'm sure it was exciting going to the press event, but this is a news site, not 'show and tell'.

And if you READ the item "Redlight" in the other posts 'correctly' and not jump to conclusions, you would see that I was discussing TWO distinct different items.

One was an event held here in Sydney Australia, where MS and Game™ are giving away $AUD80,000 Xbox360 Chopper, where I was asked to do the pics and story to cover the first public showing of the chopper. NOT a press event, there was and in NO MENTION of me attending ANY press event . . .

Game™ gave me permission to take pics in their store and staff (which btw you need permission for over here in Australia, something to do with copyright law I believe) otherwise I could be sued. Which I certainly do not want to be.

And as someone else pointed out, the other is simply showing a press release from MS and Epic handed out to their Media Groups, which our site happens to be part of . . . I received it on Friday late (our time) directly from MS Media Group here in Australia, and posted it yesterday . . . what is so hard to understand there. Perhaps we should always prefix all our Media Press Releases with "This News Press Release JUST in, so we're not so sure how new the new news is . . seeing we only got is moments ago . . ?"

What is it that is SO hard for some to fathom, that people outside 'certain' countries or platforms supporters can also be gamers to, that they also have the ability to acquire news items, be they late or early, and have the ability and right to post on the "public" news portal such as N4G.

I got a great deal of help from the previous poster on here (xhi4) prior to this item being approved, and he was of great value, and he took the time and effort "READ" my posts and and understood where I was coming from, offered constructive criticism, and we both have walked away learning something of each other.

Which ultimately, is what a "community" is supposed to do . . . unfortunately, some see it the other way, and must tear down anything that they believe stands in their way.

6 - I think the game looks gorgeous but ive seen better.

Killzone 2 still looks better graphically and uncharted. Heck even lair dragon looks better in detail then the first shot on that site. I know its still an early build and the game will kick a$$ but in this article it says that this game has taken graphics to the next level, when in reality what we seen so far isnt all that impressive from what we all were expecting. I am not trying to down gears of war graphically because the game does look gorgeous and will be awesome but im not gonna sit here and lie to myself and say what we seen so far has surpassed anything ive seen capable on any console.

First off
Killzone 2 IS probably the greatest looking game this generation in MY eyes on a graphics level. So you are completely right about that in my opinion. BUT this is not a Killzone 2 Press Release.....

SO back to gears we go.
the game is just an early build and im sure when the game gets to your HD TV other then your comp screen, it will look much MUCH better. Gears of war ONE looks much better then these gears 2 videos because the game is actually FINISHED and on my HD TV. So i will come back later and judge gears 2 when its done. I advise you and many others do the same.

I know this is a gears thread but those other games wasnt mentioned just for a random reason, they were mentioned comparing them to those gears 2 screens which I pointed out because that source said that gears 2 has set the bar again for visuals and made it sound like its the best looking game we seen thus far for any system, which isnt true at all.

I also pointed out that I know its an early build of the game and I know it will look alot better when the final game is released, but that doesnt make it a fact that killzone 2 already looks better then gears 2 and killzone 2 will only look ever better with 8 more months of polishing and all to make the game look even better.
Edit: Like I said before I was only stating a fact that killzone 2 looks better then gears 2, and yes it may be my opinion but most of the user on here will agree with me, only people who wont agree with me are those who only own a 360. I own every system but like I said before, I aint going to sit here and lie to myself that gears 2 looks better then every other game out there.

Personally it's not a game I'm overly keen on, while I will get it, that's a given, basically for the Single Player rather than the MP side of it. It certainly looks a great deal different than the first one, much more believable scenes and the country shots have a certain deeper depth of field or something ?

But it is an early build, and still 6 months of being released. And I'd put money on it being around the 9th - 11th of November (US)

is sounding better and better with every new piece of info given out. I loved part one and can't wait for part two.

I loved the cover system and pop and shoot mechanics. I can't wait to see how the improvements have benefited this game. Gears might not have been the first to bring about these cover mechanics, but they sure improved it and brought it about to the mainstream games. Many games have been enhanced because of Gears inspiration. I hate it when people try to take anything from this game.

Originality takes forever to come about, copying runs rampant in everything done today. All you can do is improve on what's available, and maybe, just maybe, inspiration from what's old my give way to new original ideas. But improvements to something old is not a bad thing.

Now is a great time to be a gamer, can't wait for November, and I'm also scared..... It looks like MS is looking to create another blockbuster "End Year". My wallet still hasn't recovered from the last August to "End Year" onslaught of great games.

As a completely addicted Gears of War fan, I have to say that the one thing i'm concerned about most is lag in online gameplay. Doesn't seem nearly as bad when i play halo, but thats probably because they have a different hosting system

and I'm looking forward to GeOW2 very much but I disagree with this little snipet i yanked directly from the article at hand and i quote- Gears of War 2″ raises the graphics bar for next-generation games. NOT! Its just a notch or two improved over GeOW1. Not that- thats bad but Uncharted is the game to beat now as far as visuals go. Now bring on the the disagrees, I been at work all day and N4G is my home. I need those to get comfortable. ;D

Of course it's looks like and sounds like an ad, they (Epic/MGS) ARE trying to sell their game, that being Epic Studios and MGS . .
