Gears 2 story will be much better than 1

Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda has admitted that Gears of War 1's story "wasn't necessarily as robust as it could have been" but expects the second game to change all that.

There were a lot of loose ends in Gears 1,hopefully they'll tie them up with the Gears 2 storyline.

Yeah I own gears and its a great game but the story sucks. Disagree if you need to, I'm not here to make friends...only to speak my mind as I see fit.

I understand epic was probably under a bit of pressure since the 360 basically had no killer app exclusives before gears (dead rising was OK), but I could have written a better story after hitting the sticky icky bouncing ideas off of just one person for a few hours.

i totally agree with u for gears of war 2 they should really concentrate on both see to be honest with you i only like playing the singleplayer cause i get bored from multiplayer thats why they should work on it more

Personally, I liked the first one's storyline. It was cheesy...but then again...Kingdom Hearts is at parts...and that's one of the greatest storylines ever created!

I mean, they're really going to have to beef it up to beat Resistance 2. Now that Insomniac has all the time they need to create such an epic game...it will be MUCH better than Gears of War 2...which is saying a lot. Epic is one of my favorite developers.

Resistance came out in November 06 which means they have had the same amount of time 2 years, so development time is the same for both titles. But i agree Resistance 2 is lookin good. i liked the story from gears 1 but do hope its a little longer

it's touted to be the best 360 game to date by the graphics and MP! it's good if they can manage to make a better storyline for Gears2 but if not, what do you expect? epic had always been MP-concentrate dev! beside gears, what else are from them? it's the UT series which is another MP - with mods!

thats not exactly true. i have the collectors edition of gears 1 and in the interview cliffy says that multiplayer was a last minute decision. it was something they tried out at e3 and they were surprised at how many people played it and they decided to mix it up a little and work on it some more. but now they know that MP is a key element to the games success and with that in mind i hope they revamp MP and improve SP and make something cooler than the hammer of dawn or something like it because theres supposedly bigger bosses in the game than brumaks

11 - Well it can't get any worse so, this is obvious.
And yup, it's not saying much. Only with the increased focus on a cheesy REALLY TERRIBLE story, it would actually damage Gears 2. Oh well, nobody working with MS seems to know what the f*ck they're doing these days.

What with the MEGA disappointing Banjo Vehicle Romp, Fable 2's AWFUL trailer, Too Human's cuts and it being rushed out the door and Ninja Gaiden 2's idea of launching anywhere near the MGS4 goliath with graphics that are topped by Ninja Gaiden Sigma, it's not looking good for MS.

I think it looks ok for Msoft. Fable will sell well as will Ng and who knows what there announcing at E3 and Gears will no doubt be one of the biggest selling games of the year .
But i agree that the gaming divsion seems a bit all over the place at the moment. Bring back Peter Moore i say, even though he talked rubbish at least it was entertaning, not like this new guy.

I thought the first story was fine, other then the missing cutscene (even an audio one over the radio) explaining how the Loctust captured the train.

I mean the story was 48 hours in the life of Marcus and his squad. Thats what the story was. It wasnt a grand story and it wasnt supposed to explain the world, just show the lives of Marcus, Dom and their other teammates as they tried to survive for 48 hours and complete their assignements. Assignment locate the team, when that failed locate the bomb the team had and return it. The bomb was put on the train where it would be shot into the gully but at some point (and this is not explained in game) the locust take the train over and I assume were trying to stop it when Marcus and the boys jumped on to stop them.

Not the greatest story but not the worst I have ever seen. Simple and made sense to me (until that final mission).
